4-9-15 Tornado near Rockford, IL - Belvidere, IL *HD*

I don't think I ever heard tornadoes taking shape close to my residence (Rockford), nor did I know that I was actually under a mesocyclone. COOL. I do remember that stormy night, with the winds, rains, pounding hail and rapid lightning, just like in the video. I still remember the MASSIVE supercell storm that dropped a major tornado at Plainfield in the late summer of 1990.

I was about 5 or 6 when this happened I was at my aunt's house and since I was scared I threw up💀

I was about 12 when this happened. I wasn't in belvedere, but i wasn't too far from there. I remember being terrified because It was just me, my younger brother, my older sister and our cats home since our parents had gone away, can't entirely remember where they went. But i remember my 14 year old sister rushing us downstairs once we heard the sirens go off. This was the first time i experienced a tornado without my parents around, it's really scary stuff.

I live in Rockford and this was SCARY! My brother brought us downstairs because my mom was at a hair appt and my dad was at work in Chicago and my brother (Simon) was watching me, my sister (stella), and my other brother (Oliver) and I had my blankey and I was so scared. Simon was brave enough to run upstairs and grab the pretzels! 😂 My dad used to be president of the GRBL baseball league in Rockford and there were so many times when I was playing and the tornado sirens went of and we had to go back into the cars and stop the game... GRBL is shutdown now and I miss the days when I got to play. I would join boys and girls club but they take it way too seriously there. I was always playing in the all star games and I really miss having the all star patch on my jerseys. :(

we drove to DeKalb after this had dissipated. The flattened Grubstakers had search lights going, in fact there were lots of searchlights everywhere. I saw a tree against the sky and panicked there was another tornado.

I remember this day I was just playing with dolls then my mom comes into my room ruined my vibe 😭 nah just playing but she said we had to go downstairs she did not tell me why so I wouldn’t get scared but when she did I screamed my head off but I have a fricking fear of tornadoes like I can’t stand just hearing the warning alarm that scared the shit out of me
