The really funny thing is I think the design would look just fine without it and I could see it being a feature that certain Pokémon fans say ruin the design which makes it's inclusion that much more appropriate based on it's dex entry and inspiration. I could totally see it in one of those "fixed" design videos I randomly see in my feed, where they just cut the cape out of the key art in photoshop. I love the inclusion and didn't even realize it's very close to basically a flowy appendage. I immediately thought of Space Dandy as well upon seeing it and hearing the name because I love that anime. This would definitely be my starter replacement/Lucario of the team. I think if I were to "fix" it in my own way, and this is only based on my own preference for character design, it would be to somehow do the long flowing scarf trope. Of course Greninja already does that and I'm not sure what part of a bug you could use to justify it's inclusion. Maybe tinier wings/cape as an in-between because I like those too, but really I do love the big wings/cape. I can really see Pompodon utilizing it in their grand entrances

Idea for a four artists: Each person gets to draw a three stage BUT each stage is rotated with another artist, with knowledge only based on the previous stage. What I like the most about Kabukid is how it looks like a wannabe Scizor sidekick! He wants to be his own Shonen hero character, but hasn't developped yet the emotional maturity to have his own style, he's still copying the coolest example around (within the Bug type), and expecting it to be considered an awesome OC concept! Pompadon is a great follow up on that! The Scizor inspiration is still easy to find, but it's become that: an inspiration. The Pokémon has understood why it's cool, has retained the idea, but applies it on concepts that Scizor don't use: a horn and facial features, overemphasis on shoulder pads, and a strong contrast with another vibrant predominant color! Not to mention the ton of subtext implying at the character depth just by giving it Kamina glasses!

This makes me think that one of these in the future should be designing based on the conventions of the other artists. So each person is assigned another and they have to draw a Pokémon the way their person would. So let’s says Moxie we’re assigned Vergo, he’d have to follow the prompt by designing a feminine, flowy, dragon/dinosaur. Something like that

Moxie's powerpoint and final pokémon were absolutely hilarious and amazing. I think Nebuleye embodies more than social anxiety, namely, the anxiety brought up as an instinctual reaction to "existentialism", which was jokingly mentioned as one of Moxie's inspirations. The reaction people, especially younger people, have to existentialism, is very severe. Due to the ground-breaking nature of existentialism, it literally takes away all meaning from life, people obsess over existentialist ideas. Just like Nebuleye, existentialism often scares people and brings out people's deepest anxieties about the world. It would have been fun to see a third stage of this evolution, where Nebuleye grows to embody the idea that existentialism is not only a force for fear, but also for hope. Existentialism does not just mean that there is no meaning to life. It also means that individuals can ascribe their own meaning to it.

I love Tardemoto! When I saw the height comparison my first thought was that it might be hard to see in battles- but then I thought that maybe a way it could draw the player’s eye is if it had some sort of subtle animation, maybe one in which it sort of. Rotated in place where it floats? Like a constant looping animation of it spinning all curled into a little ball. And then the sketches with the different poses solidified the idea in my head, I think it would look adorable

Here's a fun concept for a possible prompt for this series (possibly for the first episode of Season 3?) The main prompt is "The most YOU Pokémon", so the artist makes the most generic Pokémon that would be so easily recognizably their fakemon; Vergo makes a generic flowy dinosaur, Moxie makes a generic hot furry, etc. But the Pokémon is only a one/two stager. As a twist/extra challenge to the episode though, the artists get assigned another artist in the episode, and they make another design with the assigned artist's mindset. So now let's say Vergo is trying to make a "Moxie Pokémon" she's trying to predict what type of Pokémon Moxie would've made with the "the most YOU Pokémon" prompt. Let's say Vergo makes a furry for Moxie, Moxie makes a complicated design for Jack, etc.

CIRKATE: Seemingly simple, but has a surprising amount of depth to the design, very fun. CIRKAVASS: Don't like the mechanic, but love the lore of it. Another super fun design. "Can't be an animal" and "can't be inspired by myth" are tough challenges to combine! First off, even with official Pokémon designs, it cancels out most of Gen 1, if not its almost entirety! Cirkate turned out to be great, I love it! For some reason I assume Cirkavass can still shift its part around to change shape and "roll out", as it were! In other word, I can't imagine the wheels in its design aren't usable as transportation anymore.

With that description all I could think about is kids catching tadpoles...and the advise that was stressed again in 2018 that Tidepods are not edible... Merge it and you get...Tidepole, the dishwash pokemon, Water/poison Tidepole are a popular pokemon with children. Their colorful swirling pattern reminds them of candy, these pokemon however, hold several toxins within their swirling paterns. Tidepole's acids that are also great degreasers and are used in almost every brand of dishwasher soap.

I loved seeing everyone challenging themselves this way and making stuff outside their comfort zones. Its a great chance for people who normally dont click as much with one artist as much as another to see something they love in a totally unexpected way, or to see a kind of design they normally wouldnt like in a way that makes them like it more. Hearing the description for kabukid before seeing its design my brain thought lokix 2 since it sounded kamen rider-isqe, but the whole line definitely approaches its concept differently, and is fun as heck. I could see a trainer using Lokix and Pompadon in a double battle though, they match lowkey. Edit: then I get to the end of the video, and there’s a Sentai inspired Pokémon lmao, ironic

41:31 I'm autistic and socially anxious, and I can relate to this a ton (except I worry about making too much eye contact, which fuels my social anxiety) As for this prompt, I've designed very few Pokémon, but I've drawn nothing but eels, fish, and marine life. When looking at my entire region's dex, bioluminescence, food Pokémon, drug references, Ultra Beasts/aliens, musical Pokémon, and anything modern or futuristic would also be off the table lmao. Ron would probably force me to draw something ancient, since that's not a strong suit of mine (unless it's super mysterious like Cirkavass, Claydol, Sigilyph, etc), which is why I wouldn't be allowed to draw a psychic type either.

Kodswollop is 10000% on my team, I love it so much, no notes. Genuenly would be a top pokemon of a generation if it were real. I think Katscrap's head looks more dog to me than cat, but I love the fish bone framing the eye.

Context wise I don't usually like bipedal pokemon which are particularly humanoid and such, but Kodswollop hits the balance of kooky lil guy and animal that it hits my aesthetic perfectly.

Cirkavass makes me think of the teacup/strawberry ride at fairs, where you and your friends sit inside and then can spin it around super fast by spinning a wheel in the middle. I keep imagining four trainers piling into the top of Cirkavass and spinning like a centrifuge while traveling across the region.

Goddamn Pompadon is so freaking cool. I love how the artist combined so many different inspirations with actual biological phenomena (such as the bombardier beetle's combustions), while simultaneously sticking to the theme and limitations, without any of it feeling out of place. I would absolutely love to see him fighting against Lokix, or given what you were going for, serving as Lokix's goofy wingman. Good job, Vergolophus!
