I love that Aloe and Apollo both have moth Pokemon. Moths have historically been associated with death, so their motivations are directly in their teams: death and rebirth. It also shows that the memory of their lost family stays with them.

After all if humans are known for something, it's their adaptability. But humans have grown to consider themselves separate from and even superior to Pokémon. The average human nowadays probably doesn't know they have a type the way Pokémon do, and most of are Normal since they live in urban areas.

@@elo2coon434 Yes Coco. And I love this because Coco is one of the few humans who's still close to his nature as a Pokémon, and to Nature in general. And by being this way, he manages to uncover the true potential of humans. I mean think about it, he managed to use another Pokémon's signature ability, something that only this Pokémon is supposed to be able to use. This shows that the humans' ability to adapt to their surroundings is really impressive, but by living in the human society (which is controlled by horrible hypocrites, may I add), they stay unaware of their incredible potential during their entire lives.

My idea for a gym leader would be a fairy type who's kinda a ditz. The puzzles before you challenge him are super easy to get through, and once you challenge him, his team is super unbalanced and his pokemon drop like flies. But then weird things start to happen during the battle. Your pokemon dont faint when their HP reaches zero, attacks that shouldn't be effective are now super effective. If you win, you get a badge, but later down the line, you're told that its actually a fake badge, and you have to go through the gym all over again. The correct option is to surrender during the fake battle, and once you do, the gym leader congratulates you for seeing through the illusion, explaining that everything up until now was just a facade. Your real gym battle starts, and he's much smarter and a much more formidable opponent. This embodies one of my favorite tropes, where characters obfuscate their competance and break it out when you least expect it, and fits my favorite type, Fairy, since fairies are known tricksters.

Really like Clowndle and Fierrot! Juggler does have an equivalent ability in-game already, called Skill Link - the Cloyster, Ambipom, Cinccino and Toucannon lines get it, as well as Mega Heracross - but I think this is one of the cases where making a new ability that's just renaming an existing ability works brilliantly. Juggler doesn't have an active detriment, so Mycelium Might is overall still worse, but they share the same core problem of being worse versions of generic abilities. Juggler is, at best, sometimes on par with Skill Link

I think using skill link is less flavorful though, as it ensures 5 hits. Conversely, a Loaded dice effect’s inherent RNG means it is more chaotic and therefore more fitting for his fakemon’s design. As for balance, I would make it ensure 3-5 hits instead of 4-5; that would make it worth using, assuming you even choose to run multihit moves at all

When I think pokemon based on a trope my brain put together "the grouchy old man and the sweet child", "the knower of all things" and "the bookworm" So I drew out Scolarpede, an old man centipede psychic/electric type with a monitor on its hind end so it can look up anything but is sick of helping others. In recent years I started to admire the design of the human characters more the the Pokemon, cause I often felt like they had so much more to give. I started brainstorming a gym leader during this video. You walk into the gym and are greeted by the 12-year-old Johnny. He has an upbeat demeanor and seems excited as he watches the challenger complete the puzzle. When the puzzle is completed, he flaps his hands and battles the challenger. He… isn’t the best at battling. Upon his defeat, he doesn’t give the challenger a badge; Johnny isn’t the gym leader, not really. He then throws up his arms and says, “Doe! Doe! We have a challenger!” Johnny falls backwards, twitches for a moment, and rises, visibly paler than he was a second ago. Turns out, Johnny is a conduit for the ghost type gym leader, Doe, who is ironically a ghost. Doe explains as much, along with the fact they both like doing the whole possession routine; Johnny thinks it’s fun and Doe doesn’t mind too much. Upon his defeat, Doe give the challenger the Phantom Badge. It’s based on the creepy kid, benevolent abomination, and child befriending a monster tropes.

Hands down, the best collab ever. Honestly, loved all the designs, especially Okapypaste (my favorite). But in ragrds to Minie - Okapypaste's trainer - I am contemplating between Okapie and Absol as the one to mega evolve. This has gotta be my newest favorite video you’ve done. Making new Pokémon is unique but it can be easy to make repeating concepts.. but the trainers make Pokémon what it is and it’s so fun to listen to this especially as someone who loves making characters myself

Trugreen7, this was a wonderful video. All these new ideas were one of the best things I've seen today and I have to say out of all of them, Vergolophus' gym leader and ace is my favorite. 1, because dark types are my favorite kind of Pokémon (tied with psychic). And 2 is because the origin of the Pokémon, the designs of the gym leader and her art, and all the Kalos aspects of it all (being one of my favorite regions and mega evolution) made me fall in love with it. Plus, there should have been a dark type gym leader in the Kalos region.

I love this! You're pokemon and 4 artist videos have been really inspiring me for a while now, but character design is where my heart is at, and as someone trying to design Gym Leaders of my own, this was REALLY COOL, and as an avid @actuallyrea watcher, I'm spoiled for more of her designs. Everyone's stuff was so amazing and I love the shape language! Samson and Apollo are probably my favorite designs from this video!
