Suzeam’s entire gimmick is what made the AI professors so creepy. The AI professors are legitimately caring, but they are basically possessed by the drive of Arven’s remaining dead parent to battle with Paradox Pokémon and then you see the fact that the AI Professor does not want to battle. God, is that a very effective line to bring out.

Hearing Suzeam's story makes me wonder if there is split evolution for the people who respect the Pokemon's wishes or help it overcome it's hesitance to battle. I think, ideally, Suzeam would just be free to choose what they are interested in. The boy forced it to battle and made the overly obedient Effijack. The girl had it behave as a pet, and it would become the more animalistic Chimerionett. Suzeam just wants to be recognized as more than a pet or a tool for battle. It's not a hesitance to battle. It's the knowledge that this is something beneath them, with them being the closest Pokemon relative to humans. We don't personally take part in the battle, and neither should they.

Effijack and Chimerionett both look enough like Suzeam to show that there’s no doubt that you're looking at your little buddy but mangled enough that you know the damage has been done. Suzeam's ability reminds me of one of these classic Gen 1 Creepypastas. Imagine it, you get this weird Pokémon Red cartridge and see that it already has a save file. You decide to check it. You're at the very beginning, after getting your starter. You check what is your starter and it's a Pokémon you've never heard of : Suzeam. It's level 5. You go into the first rival fight with it, but everytime you press FIGHT, it always displays the same message : SUZEAM does not want to FIGHT. So you lose, but as usual when you lose in that fight, the game continues as expected. But after that, you don't encounter any wild Pokémon, and trainers don't fight you, as if they've already been defeated. And the scripted battles like the other rival fights, Gym Leaders, or the Giovanni fights don't happen at all. These characters are nowhere to be found. That is until you reach the Pokémon League, with just Suzeam, still level 5. The Elite 4 members are not here either, so you pass through their rooms until you reach Blue. He is there and you start the final battle as normal, but the same message appears, "SUZEAM does not want to FIGHT", and Blue's Pokémon don't attack either. Maybe they don't want to hurt this poor little Pokémon that doesn't even want to be here. You keep pressing FIGHT, and this time the message changes. Stop. No. I don't want to. Stop insisting ! I said... NO ! Then the Game Boy produces a loud continuous sound, as if it's a scream, and crashes with the sound still playing. You turn off the console and then back on. When you reach the save file screen, the save file is gone. You start a new game and this time, the starters are once again Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander. It's as if Suzeam never existed. What do you think ? It's the kind of vibe that I get from Suzeam's ability, and honestly, it fits with the Halloween theme very well.
@msf239925 күн бұрын
Good creepypasta writing, btw. The concept was there, but you pulled it together. I’d throw in that you ought to encounter Effijack at some point in the second playthrough, but I don’t know how to integrate that.
@Oceane180325 күн бұрын
@@msf2399 Thank you that means a lot ^-^ And I dunno, I feel like the creepypasta works just fine with Suzeam alone. Besides, what happens with Effijack isn't that far from what happens in the actual Pokémon games, you know ? Like, you have these Pokémon that try to attack you, and try to escape the Poké Balls you throw at them. But as soon as that Poké Balls locks, they're your friends now, and they obey your every word. However, if you don't have enough badges, they literally try to not fight for you. They're fighting for control, sometimes succeeding and doing nothing, sometimes failing and doing what you asked, and sometimes hurting themselves as they try to resist (when they "hurt themselves in confusion"). Pokémon are turned docile by Poké Balls. That's the truth, and even the strongest Pokémon have a hard time resisting the effects Poké Balls have on them. With that plus Poké Balls being pretty much confirmed to be powered by Pokémon Life Force, it's pretty bad. In OrAs' Delta Episode, Mr. Stone confirms that the Devon Corp. drains Pokémon Life Force. It's horribly painful for the Pokémon, and has been shown in X and Y to kill them if they're drained of all their Life Force. And Devon uses it to power basically everything that they create. And guess what are one of the things they created ? All the Poké Balls besides the Poké, Super, Hyper and Master ones. These 4 were created by the Silph Corp., but they probably use Pokémon Life Force too. Pokémon Life Force is the energy source of the Poké Balls, but maybe that's also how they make Pokémon docile and obedient. By making a connection between the Life Force inside the Ball and inside the Pokémon, allowing the Ball to regulate the Pokémon's Life Force. After all, Mega Evolution gives the Pokémon huge amounts of Life Force and makes them uncontrollable. So maybe Poké Balls regulate their Life Force to do the opposite of Mega Evolution : making them more controllable and obedient. The fact that Mega Evolved Pokémon become uncontrollable despite being in a Poké Ball adds to my point. They have so much Life Force in them that the Poké Balls can't regulate it and control them. But regardless of how they do it, the truth of the matter is that Poké Balls force Pokémon to be obedient to their trainers. The harmony between humans and Pokémon is a hypocritical lie. I analyze the lore and themes of Pokémon a lot, so you can trust me on that.
@Oceane180325 күн бұрын
@@msf2399 If you're interested, you can check my comment again. I changed the creepypasta just a tiny bit, removing the Elite 4 members just like the other scripted fights so that only Champion Blue is left. That way, this story starts with fighting Blue and ends with fighting Blue as the only two fights of the game. I think it works well narratively.
@AdamWielgosz24 күн бұрын
@@msf2399During the second playthrough, something stands out. Blue is written as notably more of a jerk. Most of his lines towards the player feel meaner then they are in base Red/Blue, he’s a lot more prone to calling his Pokemon weak, and he constantly brags about boxing his old weaker teams for stronger new ones. Aside from that, it’s all just normal Pokemon Red and Blue… until the penultimate rival battle. In this second-to-last battle before Victory Road, Blue actually has a familiar face in rotation: Suzeam. Same weak stats, same message about not wanting to fight, and everything. It’s a bit weird to see it this far, especially on Blue’s team, but you defeat it. You don’t exactly have much of a choice in the matter, seeing as you can’t run from Trainer Battles. Blue’s lines after the battle are somehow even harsher then the usual ones he has in this altered save, with a lot of his ire being directed towards Suzeam, with him mentioning that he’ll train it until it’s the ultimate fighting machine. Eventually, you make it to the League, but again, something’s not right. You go into Lorelei’s chamber, and battle her, but over half of her team is already fainted, with her two remaining Pokemon not even being at full health. The rest of the League isn’t faring much better, with Lance not even bothering to fight you as his entire team was decimated by what he calls “an utter monster of a POKEMON”. Eventually, all that’s left is Blue. His dialogue seems mostly the same, but instead of mentioning that he has teams to counter any type of Pokemon, he mentions that he has the perfect Pokemon to counter any type of Pokemon. The battle starts, and, unlike most of his other fights, Blue only has one Pokemon. “BLUE sent out EFFIJACK!”

For me, Reoma's Fakemon illustrate the fear of breaking something beyond repair. And then it's _our fault forever._ I had this mental image of a Trainer with an Effijack -- maybe its theirs that they regret forcing to evolve, maybe they got it from somebody else -- but they're sitting somewhere warm and safe and bright, holding its hand, just trying to show it some comfort or fellow feeling or _something_. But no mattter how long they sit there, the Effijack never moves until commanded to.

The story behind it is different, but Linkite is essentially a pokemon that was abandoned in its pokeball and died there. Because it was abandoned it forgot its true shape and thus the pokemon appears as a substitute doll tethered to a pokeball by a chain. (it also acts as a mimic, like Voltorb does, looking like an overworld item but being a pokemon encounter) The evolution just goes completely mad with dark energy seeping out from everywhere. Substitute dolls are very interesting, they definitely have some really cool potential for ideas and theories.

The cognitive dissonance doesn’t let me enjoy it otherwise 😱 TL;DR Reoma did a great job with Suzeam
@FrozenFennekin25 күн бұрын
Lore wise, Pokémon do actually battle with you by their own will. If a wild Pokémon challenges you to a battle, it’s specifically because it wants to be your friend, the battle is it testing you to see if you’re a good enough trainer for it to want to battle alongside you (that’s also why traded Pokémon check for badges, they didn’t get to gauge your skill by battling you themselves). If a Pokémon doesn’t want to be caught, it Can’t Be unless you use a master ball on it (and in the more recent games, it’s often specified that legendary Pokémon want you to catch them and are just testing your skills first). Nuzlockes are kind of sad though, it might help to think about it as a game you’re Pokémon and you are playing together to see how far you could go together without them fainting instead of them actually dying? After they faint, they’re out of the game (put in the pc) until your whole party faints or you beat the champion. After the game is over, you can imagine taking them all out and them talking to each other about their coolest battles. You don’t have to do nuzlockes but if you want to without getting sad then this could be a good way of thinking about it.

Of all the designs, I feel that Suzeam works best due to it being scary *because* it's a Pokemon. It takes full advantage of the culture of the Pokemon world we tend to take for granted. It uses game mechanics to spin a narrative with its evolutions, so even without its supporting lore, you can piece together just how messed up this Pokemon is just from the ability it gains. It even plays with the expectations of similarly weak Pokemon evolving into massive powerhouses (ie Magikarp -> Gyarados), making veteran trainers patiently raise one with the expectation that it grows strong, but only realizing in the end the cost of that strength. It's incredibly unnerving because in a blind playthrough, I'm pretty sure I would just behave like the older brother and end up with an Effijack. I would like to see an evolution of Suzeam where it gains enough EXP/friendship without engaging in a battle at all. It's certainly possible, especially with EXP candies.

The effect and fear you were describing when talking about Gaunteater is called the "Uncanny Valley" Ron. It's the instinctual fear/revulsion of something that looks *almost* normal but just has one or 2 subtle things off: Scientists believe that the Uncanny Valley was actually an evolutionary adaptation to help ancient humans distinguish illness at a distance (I.E. if you see someone at a distance who looks unusually gaunt or pale (Often the most clear visual signs of illness), the instinctual response is to keep your distance.

God damn Effijack is genuinely scary looking lol if I saw that as a kid I’d be scared of that pokemon. Great job on that one and the story showed behind how Suzeam becomes that. It’s genuinely kind of sad how a pokemon that doesn’t want to fight when pushed can only respond to a command upon evolution. I know it’s a pokemon but if this pokemon was in the game I wouldn’t make it battle. The result screams that this should not be as it’s overtaken by the strings that knot in it whenever it’s told to attack. Both Effijack and Chimerionett have tragedy behind them those poor Suzeam’s man I feel so bad for them and that girl. Reoma did great with these. I can imagine if there was a trainer who helped work through it not wanting to battle there can be like a good, neutral and bad ending. Chimerionett can be neutral since you can still treat it with kindness and understanding about it fearing you will force it to battle even when it doesn’t want to battle and not force it to battle but slowly try to see if you can work through its fears but it already destroyed and rebuilt its form because of it fearing that you will force it to battle. Then Effijack can be the bad ending where by forcing it enough to battle it becomes that and only responds to command.

I can imagine there being benefits for your other pokemon if you have this evolution in your party once evolved? Maybe a chance that your 'mon will be cured of a status condition upon switching out or gain some HP randomly, the caveat being that you can only actually battle with your 5 other pokemon. The Suzeam evo straight up just won't enter the field at all. If the other 5 faint, the battle is over.

Excerpts from interviews by investigative journalism podcast ‘Behind the Ball’: “Yeah, no one knows why you can’t battle with Suzeams. But it’s not like anyone cares; The stats are garbage and they don't even wanna fight anyway. Don’t get why it’s illegal, though. What’s the point?” “Uh, it’s been illegal to use Suzeam in battle-pro or casual-for like a century. Like, jail-time level illegal. Heck, you need special permission to even own one-the rest are kept on some reservation somewhere. It’s because they’re too gentle. For battle, I mean. Making them fight would just be cruel. And it wouldn’t even be worth it if you wanted to; weak stats, weak typing, no evolutions. So no, no one cares enough to want to use a Suzeam even if they could.” “They just aren’t built for combat. Forcing them into such an uncomfortable position would be cruel and inhumane. It’s believed that they’re the closest relative of our species in the pokemon world, you know. It’s not too surprising that they don’t function like normal pokemon.” “Many have stated that their uselessness in battle leads people to agree with the laws surrounding them-with them having weak stats and no evolutions.” “Correct. A sign that they simply can’t function in a combat environment. Thankfully, they respond well to domestic environments, so-” “But doesn't Suzeam have an evolution?” “Nope. It’s a single form pokemon for it’s entire lifespan-” “What about the 1908 Galar Champion? Didn’t he use an evolved Suzeam? “...Where in the world did you get that idea?” “I’ve been researching Suzeam’s history from before it was banned from participating in battles. It’s uselessness means there was little documentation of its use, but there was an article about the Galar Champion of that year-who’s name was expunged from the record-who claimed the previously unidentified pokemon he battled with was an ‘Effijack’, the evolved form of his Suzeam.” “Oh! Oh, no-no that claim was proven incorrect. You see, it was discovered soon after his ‘victory’ that the man in question had cheated in the tournament, and he was subsequently removed from the champion position and stricken from the halls’ records in shame. That ‘pokemon’ was part of his ruse; it wasn’t actually present at any of the battles.” “So Effijack does not exist.” “No, it does not” “And the illegalization of Suzeam’s use in battle had nothing to do with it or its user. “Exactly.” “The same user whose entire property was found utterly annihilated not long after his return home?” “A tragedy, but not one connected to this discussion.” “What did happen at that mansion, anyway?” “Unfortunately, there was nothing left behind to gather evidence from. But given that the man in question was a liar and a charlatan with eyes bigger than his stomach, he probably tried doing something he shouldn't have.”

What I find curious is the fact that we haven’t seen it in the games beyond Sword/Shield. After Sw/Sh are PLA and S/V, both of which have same-species size variations. If the “average” size remains what is already stated, then what would the size-rater in Mesagoza consider to be max size/humungo before granting the Jumbo mark? And let’s not forget that Jumbo-sized Pokémon in S/V aren’t remotely similar to the sizes of Alpha Pokémon. (I’ve tested this with H. Samurott. Its height is approx. the same as your trainer’s in S/V at max size. In PLA, its Alpha size is 2.55m/8’04”. That’s bigger than the average Scolipede, for context.) Out of curiosity, I just went ahead and calculated the Alpha variances for any Pokémon in PLA of similar average height to Scolipede. An Alpha would be roughly 3.66m/12’00” in height alone, not including the rest of its body that extends back. That’s a BIG bug.

This is probably one of my favorites 4 artists videos by far, not only the designs are super interesting and definitely different then what we are used to see. But the storytelling, the amount of effort you guys put into creating these stories to why these pokemon are scary or how they became scary - absolutely beautiful Reomas ability to make such incredible tales and top it off with as incredible designs is so cool, like not just scary but also they made me feel sad and angry in behalf of all 3 forms. Love it

Despite what Jack said about it looking silly, out of all fakemon displayed in this video, Glutdemer is the closest to what personally would terrify me to death. I'm super scared of the deep water in general, and especially of giant unknown abyss dwellers. Although I'd make it a lot bigger. bigger than Eternatus, just to maximize the fear factor

I love how Gaunteater's tail is facing upwards, looking like a giant maw in the thumbnail.

Wait, Effijack could also be the old Creepypasta "Laughing Jack" because that was my first thought when I saw the name and concept.

Next idea, definitely. I recently took the African Painted Dog and made it literal. Normal/Fairy Painted Dogs.

unravenge reminds me of ursula le guin's short story "the ones who walk away from omelas" but darker. one suffers through all so everyone else never feels pain. so freaking cool.

Tinvader & Glutdemer are absoluuutely perfect!!!! Wonderful pokemon! And wow the Suzeam line is legitimately unsettling, to kill your own humanity to not feel as enslaved....

Effijack and its prevo are my peak fears.... Beyond perfect! It's the best fakemon I've ever seen from design, lore, and creep factor perspective.

I really resonate with Glutdemer. As I have fears of what lurks deep underwater as well as a crippling fear of the dark. To add ontop of this with my own imagination during the entirety of this video I had envisioned something terrifyingly similar that lurked in dark caves, sewer pipes and abandoned building/basements. Think of it as a warning to bring a light with you into the dark, or a Pokemon with the ability of Flash for the older generations, Where you walk inside blindly stumbling around and then feel the chilling wind down your neck but only now realizing you're far too late as you walked deep into the maw of a creature awaiting deep inside. I imagined something along the lines of a large malleable Ice/Ghost type, kinda like the scene from Spongebob with the Alaskan bull worm or the use of something like a Bobbitt worm. Anyways this was a great video, alot of really good Fakemon that gave me some weird feelings for the spooky season~

This video reminded me that I still have to design this one Pokemon idea I got from a dream I had. The actual dream didn't feature a Pokemon (well, outside of a Tentacruel and Pikachu, but their roles were pretty minor in the story), but the story of the dream made for a really cool Pokemon concept. Sorry if this comment is long, but I figured I'd tell the whole story since people are going ask to hear it anyways. The story is that four Pokemon trainers had recently gotten their 8 gym badges, and decided to hold a little celebration before entering the Pokemon league. They rented out a nice boat and went out on a lake to celebrate. The party started off pretty tame: the trainers were just hanging out and talking, playing games, taking photos, and just having fun with each other. At some point, one of the four trainers just wanders off and disappears. Just doesn't come back to where they are hanging out inside the boat. But despite their friend going missing, none of the others seem to have noticed. In fact, they seemed to be having even more fun now; dancing and stumbling around, cheering loudly, teasing each other. The energy on the boat seems to get even more manic, and nobody notices when the second trainer disappears. By the time the mania has reached it's peak, the final trainer doesn't realize they are alone on the boat. They're Pikachu, which was out of their Pokeball, was nuzzling them with worry as they just sat in a chair laughing and just generally acting like the other three were still there. Eventually, they stumble to their feet and walk out to the deck for fresh air and bask in the sun. As they approach the edge of the railing, they are hit with the strong desire to just jump in. And they do. They just jump into the lake and let themselves sink. The mania they had seem to be suffering is just gone, and they are just staring blankly up at the surface of the water. While they are sinking, a hungry Tentacruel tries to grab them, thinking they're just an easy meal. The sensation of being stung by Tentacruel's poison is enough to shock the trainer out of their hypnosis. They realize they are drowning and start struggling and panicking. They end up fainting as they attempt to break the surface of the water; both from drowning, and the poison from the Tentacruel. The fourth trainer ended up surviving: their unconscious body was found along the shore when some local fisherman called the police about an abandoned boat on the waters. They were the only survivor of that boat party; even their Pikachu ended up disappearing not long after they blacked out. Their friends were never found, not even remains. The trainer doesn't even remember the events of that day, so the police never really figured out what happen, just that clearly everyone went overboard at some point. And this inspired two things for my own personal Pokemon region: 1 - The Pokemon which is currently known as Callure (Callous + Lure, also kinda sounds like Killer), a Psychic/Dark type Pokemon inspired by Kelpie. 2 - A "Ghost" Gym Leader: who is the trainer that survived that incident, and is unknowingly using the same Pokemon that killed his friends and tried to kill him as his Ace Pokemon.

As a mini idea to add, can the Pikachu come back as a ghost? And when the Ghost Trainer sees it, they remember what happened to them and Callare can get its comeuppance?

@@Drawing-Roses I actually have the "Ghost" gym leader's whole thing planned out, and I don't really want there to be a moment like that. While it was certainly a tragedy, Callure was just doing what it does in order to survive; and the trainer himself in current day is not exactly that great of a person himself. Plus, I kinda like the tragic horror, almost creepypasta nature, of the gym leader's story: it really brings home the horror vibes for there to be no happy ending. Plus, the Pikachu is mostly just there to emphasize that this character was once more of a protagonist figure like Red or Ash; a trainer who has a deep bond with Pokemon and loves everything about them. Now he despises Pokemon, and the few Pokemon he does keep with him now have a bad relationship with him. He's even a sort of "admin" figure for the evil "team" of the region; the Pokemon Hunters; though his motive for hunting Pokemon is pretty different from the majority of Pokemon Hunters. Although he does have a Pokemon that kinda fills the role your thinking of for the Pikachu. Another Pokemon on his team is Feral form Umbreon (which is ghost type), and when/if the regional protagonists reopen his heart to Pokemon, that Pokemon sort of replaces Pikachu as his partner.

@@bluejay43 while I say awww for my idea, I say I like the Umbreon and I think a cool name for them would be Pic for the lost Pikachu and what the Umbreon will be to the trainer farther down the line.

Tinvader reminds me of the Peahats from The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. I could see it planting itself in a field and then suddenly emerging from the ground to chase you.
