Both Ricoh Theta S and Samsung Gear 360 are selling in my country for way less than a grand. For the latter, I found an ad selling the set for < 200. It's even cheaper and higher quality than all the cameras in this video. A caveat: Samsung's camera completely fails in low light condition. That's why I bought the Theta S instead.

There are many PC users reporting a problem with Gear 360 ActionDirector software. The videos and images from the camera are not being stitched. The software just produces a black screen image with sound. And Samsung continue selling these cameras with a known fault! I have been informed by Samsung to wait for a software update but they can't say when. Not good Samsung! :-(

My 360 cam from giroptic came out of the box with faults and errors and wouldn't take pictures , sent back under warranty only to have them return it with the same faults and errors and still wouldn't upgrade the new firmware and dealing with their support is impossible and frustrating , don't waste your money as I and many others have buying this camera you will regret it , it is only good as a expensive paper weight .

These cameras are NOT available now.. people who pre-ordered the 360Cam YEARS ago are STILL waiting. the manufacturers stole money on kickstarter. The technology does not exist to instantly render 360 video. It takesa very powerful computer and some tedious editing to stitch the video together

#1 failed for video. 1080p at 15fps for VR is aweful. The math has been done, and a 4K 360 video would be about the same as 360p normal video. In other words, 1080p is aweful.

some of these are still just prototypes... that don't work at all ! we've spent 1500€ in a giroptic 360 dev kit and this thing never worked, the support feedback is just bad and i doubt it will ever be out on the market ! These kickstarter projects are great ideas... that don't always come to life in the end, don't forget it.
