I was always told not to judge ripeness by color but by touch and that the more firm a mango is the less ripe it is. Also since there are many different types of mangoes the coloring can be different for some. I do know some are raw when green and turn to yellow when they ripen and I think the redness in some tells how much sun it got and how much vitamin A it has but theres so many different mangoes that color is usually not a very good indicator for ripeness. I go by touch usually and I usually smell the stem to see if it has a sweet aroma.

Thanks for this video. Recently I had several fresh mangoes I had to cut up somehow. One for a smoothie and the rest just to eat. Well, it was a struggle and I made a big juicy mess on the cutting board. I've found that watching how someone actually cuts a mango (in this video for example), my brain picks up a lot of information that written instructions and photos can't effectively cover. Seeing the color differences to tell if they're ripe makes a huge difference too.

I either peel the skin with my fingers and eat it whole(the most enjoyable way) or if its grown organically without use of pesticides/herbicides i eat it with the skin.
@KiwiGran17 жыл бұрын
I use a soup spoon to separate the skin from the fruit. It leaves less fruit attached to the skin than using a knife does.

At one point I was enjoying the sound of the knife cutting the mango, the instruction, and The peace that comes with preparing and eating fresh produce, when the drums came back on and prevented me from giving a thumbs up via irritation. The video was useful enough to just barely avoid an auto-thumbs down. Why is this cacophony trying to prevent me from absorbing your instruction?
