Kate, for a long time I thought I didn't want to learn about selling digital products ... talk about God's timing! I sing with a community chorale and am friends with the director and president. They were at a loss about who do get to create concert posters. When I said I have a Canva account and could play around with designs, they said go for it! It's been SOOOO much fun and they love the designs, saying I've made it hard for them to decide 😊 and then this video comes along and you showed me what I've been doing already! So, now you have me thinking I COULD make and sell digital templates!!

If you're not going to utilize any of the same elements when adding a new page, you don't need to duplicate and delete. Instead, you can simply click the new page button which is all the way to the right with the plus sign. Just for a bit more efficiency.
@hils1015 Жыл бұрын
I came to the comments just write this very comment. Duplicating when you're just going to delete everything unfortunately wastes time as it adds an unnecessary step to your design process.

Hi mam, How do you drive traffic to your store after listing these templates? Do you do paid ads or go organic? How much time can we expect to get a first sale?
@KateHayes Жыл бұрын
The amount of time to get your first sale varies for everyone! I’m personally a big fan of using social media, an email list, and collabs with influencers to drive traffic to your shop. Make sure to watch the next video in the series for more on this!

I'm really considering this, but I just have one little question that might be super silly but, when someone buys a template from me and they wanna edit it, do they need to have Canva Pro as well to access everything? (fonts used, graphics, etc) thanks!
@KateHayes Жыл бұрын
As long as you use free elements in your template, your buyer will be able to access everything from a free account. However, if you use Canva Pro elements, they will have to pay to remove the watermark from each pro element. It’s best to only use free elements for templates!

Thanks so much for your tutorials. Super helpful... but as a total newbie to Canva, some of the "simple" things are so elusive. Question: How do you quickly move from one file to the other file when copying and pasting pieces from one file to the other?
@KateHayes Жыл бұрын
No worries, friend! You can have them open in two different browser tabs and go back and forth. If you use the pro resize feature, it will automatically copy and open the new size on a new tab. If you’re doing it manually, you’ll just need to open Canva in an additional tab, crate the right size project, then copy and paste over to new tab.

I actually do have a video on this on the channel- digital products for beginners :) They are different types of images- raster is pixel-based and will lose quality as its scaled larger. Vector is point-based and can scale larger without losing any quality.

Hi Kate, so if i create any digital template, i need to use the free elements or else my buyers wont be able to edit right? As I have the pro account, i wanted to have nicer designs, any advices? Thank you
@KateHayes Жыл бұрын
Hi Sherin, yes you’re correct! If you use pro elements in your designs and it is a product that the buyer needs to edit in Canva - they would need to either have pro or pay to have the watermarks removed. However if they are only downloading and printing your designs, for example, you could potentially use Pro elements for that.
@sherin1195 Жыл бұрын
@@KateHayes alright thank you

Great info thanks! I'm wondering about the colors you were using for the Instagram bundle. I noticed a crown. If you use those in a template do the buyers have to pay extra? Thanks
@KateHayes Жыл бұрын
The crown is there because the colors I’m choosing from are within my brand pallet, which is only available with the Pro plan. The colors themselves though are fine to use. And yes, if you use any pro elements in your designs and your customer has a free plan, they would have to pay to remove the watermark on each pro element
@erinzaffini590 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kate, for these ideas! Do you also have to choose fonts that are already included in the free version of Canva as well?
@KateHayes Жыл бұрын
Hi Erin! Yes you should only use free elements or fonts if you’re planning to design and sell templates - otherwise if you’re customer doesn’t have Canva Pro they will have to pay to remove the watermarks
