True Story: I was almost kidnapped by my own Dad. He was trying to take me and my sister to California, but I resisted until a security guard by the taco time or wherever saw a grown man trying to push and 7-8 year old into his car, and arrested him. He hadn't gotten too far, so we were both reunited with our Mom shortly.

As a mom, that first story makes my blood run cold. I have a very friendly son. No matter how much we teach stranger danger, he still is very trusting of people and naïve. We have a safe word/phrase too. As adults, especially if you work with kids, it's important to make sure that you do more than ask if the kid knows the adult. Just because the child recognizes the child doesn't mean that they are safe for that child to be with.

For the first story, I worked at summer camp in highschool and we always had to ID someone who wanted to pick up the child. They also had to be on the list. Parents get annoyed sometimes but it’s for the safety of these kids who are too trust worthy

I remember when I was like 15 or 16, we were living in Mexico at that time. My sister, our best friend and I were going back home because we went to the store, we were walking back and it was really dark, we were walking at the opposite side of the road so we can see the cars pass in front of us, so this car from the other side started driving really slow, we turned and there were 3 guys in the car, one of them called us and told us if we wanted a ride, I told him no in a firm voice, but he kept asking us, we got scared and my sister and friend wanted to start running off the road, I told them not to, we picked up some big rocks ready to throw them, at that point I wasn’t afraid because I feared for my sister( my dad had us go to karate for self defense) I saw that they were getting closer to us so I told them to throw the rocks to their heads if they got out. Luckily they left because another car was passing by. When they left we ran to my friend’s house. That was a scary scary experience. We lived in Mexico so I have many more stories lol

I remember that as soon as I could comprehend words and phrases, my dad was making sure I knew the stuff about "Don't let anyone other than me and your mom pick you up from anywhere," and "if anyone trys to touch you, run away." I can say for a fact that that information would have helped me in the situations in the video. Additionally, as soon as I was old enough to use social media, I could apply everything from the previous years and the new stuff my dad was instilling upon me to know to stay safe on the internet, which has saved me from someone on Instagram once already.

Just earlier today, I had an odd encouter that makes me kind of relate to this. I was standing across from the apt complex I live in with my boyfriend. It was hot outside so there was shade across the street and I was waiting for an Uber to pick me up. Driver was 5 mins away. I was glancing back and forth from the phone to the road. Seems most pple would assume I'm waiting for someone. A random guy I've never seen in my life walked over to a parked car with a woman and 2 young girls. (Summer event going on near by) he asked me if I was stranded and needed a ride. Lol I'm thinking. Like seriously do I look like a hitch hiker or something?! I just dont have a habit of getting in cars with strangers. Uber drivers being the only exception. Seemed innocent enough but still I wont ever do that. You just never know. I'm not going to risk being another missing person. I just said no thanx and that was it.
