@@venmis137 how do you become both loved and feared?
@venmis137 Жыл бұрын
@@mr.e2962 idk I've never tried to inspire those emotions myself. But it's definitely possible. The love could perhaps come from a respect of the person, or an appreciation of all the good things they have done and their good nature. The fear could come from a knowledge of that person's authority, and their willingness to use it to harsh effect if you disrespect, disobey, or step out of line in any way. The Church does it with God I think, where you're supposed to be both "god-fearing" and loving of god simultaneously. It's a dynamic in traditional father-son relationships from what I've heard. I'm not sure which is better to cultivate first, personally I lean more towards fear. Fear is safer on its own than love, then once you're secure in that you can use a softer hand, and the subject will be grateful and adoring to you for the relief. By contrast cultivating love first is a more insecure position, and once you have to instil fear it is probably much more likely to instil resentment in the subject, who will probably feel a sense of betrayal.

Same here. I too have read the Prince and excerpts of the 48 Laws of Power. I’m an INFJ and when I took the Dark Triad test, I scored extremely low for Psychopathy and Narcissism but scored higher on Machiavelianism with a 62%. It’s interesting because I don’t think the suggestions in this video really fit me. I don’t go about gossiping about other people, I’m not that competitive to point where I hurt other relationships, I don’t use insincere flattery (I try to be irrevocable with my word most of the time), and I’m not regularly manipulative. Could I do those things? Sure but there’s no value to it. All of those characteristics listed in video sound more indicative to Narcism rather than Machiavelianism. For me, Machiavellian strategy isn’t really about being villainous or grabbing power but rather using survival strategies, understanding circumstances, and being street smart.
@Why-nv2js Жыл бұрын
@@Jackal_El_Lobo34 I agree with you, after all why use every force you have when your only getting a little portion of it. At first I thought having a Machiavellian personality is a bad thing but you shed a little light that it may not be the case. If we are talking to mbti is it common for infj? Because I’m intj and I’m not well informed about Mbti right now.
@Jackal_El_Lobo34 Жыл бұрын
@@Why-nv2js Probably not. I don’t thinks it’s innate for INFJ’s to be Machiavelianian. I think Machiavelianism is actually a learned trait and that any personality is capable of it. For me, it started as a child. I came from divorced parents and lived most of my formative years with my mom who was an abusive Narcissist. Thankfully, I had an intervention as my dad got me out of that environment but when I went to live with him, I came with cluster B traits. While most of them have gone away through counseling, my parents noticed that I was capable of being opportunistic during my teens. I think it really came from watching my moms behavior. While she didn’t directly sit me down and tell me “okay son this is how you can be manipulative. Now go and do it like a good doggy”. It was more like she was regularly exploitative and that I picked up on those cues regarding its effects on specific circumstances. I don’t know how other people became Machiavellian.
@Why-nv2js Жыл бұрын
@@Jackal_El_Lobo34 well in my case, when I was elementary grade 2 where I transferred school to private school. It was my first time meeting them and I was happy to meet my classmates family even the other teacher. My mom said that I was bright emphatic kid. But it all went down. The first time I was accused of touching her pp, mind you at that time I don’t know what they were talking about. And my mother interrogated me for a week, it felt torture as no one is coming to comfort me, even my father is busy at his stocks. Because of it I felt despair as no one is here to comfort me. And later on I was mentally drained and I comply everything they accused me of. After that one of my teacher used this opportunity to alienate me and hove more nice view on himself, but I didn’t think it was bad, because it helps them to have more connections to the classmates. But he is a good teacher as he is the only teacher I could play and have fun, rather than the other teacher using there harsh words and their disgusted view. Thanks to this I’ve been alone for a decade, right now I’m trying to fix myself, but it’s hard to change your habit that’s been with you for a decade. Because of this I’m only good at math, science and civic because this teacher are really nice, but the rest I suck because of there treatments on me. Basically I’m afraid of people who are easily misinformed or manipulated, as they will cut ties with you without a warning, maybe that’s the reason why I’m afraid of having a real friend, when you’re surrounded with people who are easily manipulated. As it could damage me and my other connections. I guess I felt relief that there are Machiavellian out there, so that I could understand if I did wrong to other people. When I was a kid they have a negative point of me because of my race, I guess that time they were racist, but I didn’t believe that they were racist, because I had a classmates of multiracial people, it made me have a good view on humanity, and I didn’t believe about racism at that time, I don’t see different about there face and race, but until I went to the private school it felt I was the different it felt as if there league is different from me. Even to this day I’m afraid of people.

The ironic sad part of "Machiavellianism", is that Machiavelli was demonized for his observations and recording them down. The common interpretation of his work is basically, "This is how to be the villain." However, rephrase this interpretation to, "Dear reader, if you see these traits, this is someone who is acting villainously!", then you get something very different. His work comes across more as a warning and a 'red flag' system for anyone to look for, kind of like a 'training manual for whistleblowers' in some ways. I'm more inclines to describe someone who has a 'Machiavelli' personality type as one that is extremely observant and analytical, rather than manipulative and villainous. How would you confront, or help someone who is going through 'Machiavellianism', or is doing it, but unaware of it?

Bipolar, ADHD and alcholism have to be ruled out or comorbid to be diagnosed with it. It's not determined by how toxic or crappy of a partner they are. What if I am this person... I try to learn more about myself and be better. I'm tired and trying my best to live well and be authentic. In my opinion, I will attempt to resort to this sort of behavior when there are perceived inadequacies in myself. I guess what I'm hoping to find is info that'll help me fight against this behavior within me and what personal care could be used to subvert my own behavior if I recognize I'm currently behaving in such a manner. The answer seems clear to me, but like I've said, I'm tired ( also fighting off situational depression at the moment) and would like to know more about this sort of behavior. I'm working on being more grateful and trying to make happiness within myself for myself, one step at a time. Knowing the right information can make a big difference.

i always thought the term for the friend i had that secretly saw me as a competition and ruined my reputation through rumors, was just narcissistic, turns out he was a very manipulative machiavellian person i hate the fact that i already knew what he was doing, noticed all of his manipulations on other people to go against me yet i ignored it all and considered him because i believe he could learn, regret these wrong actions and someday mature into a better person thinking back, all of the consideration and understanding i gave probably meant nothing for that friend of mine, which sucks a lot

I've scored 99 out of 100 in machiavellianism. As for excessive gossipping, I don't ever do that, simply because it would be stupid. I don't want that gossip to get back to me ever. Highly competitive? Absolutely 100%. And I'm interestingly enough not motivated by money at all. However, I am motivated by influence, because I believe myself more capable of making the world a better place for our species than 99% of people.

Normal people are annoyed by narcissists. Psychopaths' charm is shallow and their struggle to even start a close relationship. Machiavellians, on the other hand, can be the most likeable, funny, cool and interesting people around, and they are often good at starting relationships and winning people over. Moreover, our political and economic structure not only welcomes such individuals but also highly appreciates them. It makes them the worst of all.
@williammiller6940 Жыл бұрын
Machiavelli gets a bad rap. He was a realistic man who tried to teach leaders that sometimes the leader has to be able to make hard decisions so thier citizens can sleep with clear consciences AND not conquered by their neighbors. To put it in gaming terms, the leader should choose to be Lawful Evil so his citizens can remain free and Neutral Good.

Walter White isn't Machiavellian. He has narcissistic traits which exagerate over time. He is too impulsive to be a Machiavellian. Gus Fring is more of a Machiavellian though I don't think he is sneaky enough to be one.

I already knew that i am Machiavellism personality , i use everyone around me. I have manipulated my friends so many times to get what i want , i try my best to get every information about my friends . But the difference is whenever i manipulate the specific person that person also gets benefitted from my manipulation . I have never told any information of mine which can exploited in the future by my friends. So, basically i have manipulated everyone one who even likes me a little bit.

I'm a bit confused. So is it imperative that we avoid contact with machiavellians at all cost? Are we supposed to socially isolate them? Are we not supposed to treat them humanely? Is being machiavellian a part of their nature, is it learned? I like that the video is communicating information to us that can limit the hostile effectiveness of a machiavellian, but it also feels like the video is implying that a machiavellian is 100% socially hostile under all circumstances. Like... do machiavellians have a healthy, functional place in society, or is machiavellianism a negative trait or dysfunction created from other traits and functions that are healthy in nature. Let me put this another way... if a human is born -- knowing nothing at all, with no drive or impulse to do much of anything outside basic manipulation and interaction with its environment -- how does it become this... thing... with no interest but to cripple social environments for personal gain, even if such actions could destroy the infrastructure that is keeping it comfortable, safe and alive? Do we just not yet understand what a machavellian is, other than the social traits it seems to present? Are we avoiding contact with it, so we can isolate and safely study it, like a virus? Maybe I answered my own question? If a machavellian were to be isolated from the environment within which it flourishes (as far as we know), perhaps then we would have the opportunity to further study how it adapts, and -- hopefully -- how it manages to reintegrate itself back into society in a healthy, symbiotic manner. But I'm still confused because I don't know if that is what the video is telling us. Maybe I figured it out, but did everyone else?
