Have you ever heard of a dark empath? I’m sure you’ve probably heard of the empath. But dark empaths, on the other hand, don’t necessarily rank high in affective empathy, but cognitive empathy, while also displaying dark triad traits. The dark triad comprises the traits of Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. Those who are part of the Dark Triad personality type rank low in empathy and high in the three dark traits. Dark empaths can often use cognitive empathy to their advantage due to their dark traits. Want to learn more about dark empaths? Here are a few secrets they don't want you to know.

I started as an empath, and being taken advantage of over and over again during my formative years turned me into a dark empath. Abusive personality types feed off insecurity which I had a lot of growing up. Somehow this developed into narcissism as I got older (because I felt like I had something to prove, I guess). I used to really feel what people felt and connect with them, but now I can rationalize to myself how they probably feel but keep emotionally distant - I no longer wrap up my own emotions with theirs. Having been a victim I know the exact ways in which to hurt someone if I wanted to, which makes me a dark empath. I also think dark empath is just an edgy new age term for emotional manipulator; no one should romanticize this kind of behavior because it is extremely toxic and hurtful and will end up hurting yourself as well. If you identify as a dark empath please seek therapy so you can understand and control your behavior and spread positivity versus toxicity. It’s never too late to make a change.

@@crisnellyblossoms28 somewhat, I at least have more insight into when it is happening and can be more conscious of my actions. I try and understand where my emotions are coming from and get to the root of them. e.g. what makes me want to hurt them emotionally? Usually it is because I am hurting and feel like I’ve been wronged by them in some way. I try and put myself in their shoes and see things from another perspective completely different from my own. It is really hard to do in moments you’re emotional, so writing down thoughts like this and coming back to them later when you can go over them logically is usually best.

Just remember that "Dark is not evil", just as "Light is not good". "Light" empaths can do all the things in the video, too; they'll just have less reasons to do it and find it a little more morally difficult to do so. Likewise, Dark empaths don't need to do any of those things, even if they easily can. They will cheer you up and support you if it doesn't go directly against their own well being (which to be honest isn't the most inmoral mindset).

Dark empath story: I always did the bare minimum in school like literally just to pass, but I remember my last trimester of 8th grade it was a couple weeks before promotion and I was in this advanced math class but I was failing cause I was never one to study I always went off memory and hoped for the best.. didn’t get me far in advanced, I had an F.. my teacher was pregnant tho so the last few months we had a substitute.. now at this point I wanted to walk with my friends so I had to do something, I feel like my regular teacher ain’t really fw me like that but the sub was cool, so I went to talk to her about possibly making up assignments, before I knew it I was crying to her telling her about how both my parents worked and sometimes I didn’t have time to do hw and study cause I had to watch my younger siblings (which was true to some degree) and she said she’d see what she could do. I thanked her and walked out the classroom. In the hallway all I remember is beginning to smile and as I got further from the classroom giggling like some mini villain.. talking bout some “And scene” head ass.. She raised my F to a D and honestly the whole ceremony wasn’t worth it.. it felt kinda wack.. anyway I’m 22 now and I don’t regret it at all.. although I try not to put myself in situations where I have to manipulate people like that cause I do believe in karma, and I’d rather put smiles on peoples faces cause it makes me feel good.. but it’s important to acknowledge these things about yourself so you can decide if you want to use these things to help or hurt others.. but if you choose to hurt, just know as clever as you think you are there’s always someone more clever than you

@@delighteddino9363 the fact that all this did was make me laugh too?? Oh the horror! But you should look up the Dark Empath.. it’s a double edged sword really.. the fact that there are people who don’t feel empathy at all for anything or anyone? We’re the ones who outsmart and outplay them when it’s that time.. a perfect example is the black girl who pretended to be a young Republican who got kicked out, started a gofundme, and hella people donated to her.. she was smart because she didn’t use her tactics to hurt people she saw as “good” or liberals and they praised her.. a story like #FindSai is a poor use of manipulation where she used the empathy of the people who support her and were in her community, essentially fucking up the trust for others like her.. thanks for commenting 🤠

I think all kinds of defensive mechanisms are pretty normal but it depends on the degree and effect. I personally think it's ok as long as the other party or some other party is not hurt. I'm an empath so I can emphasize with you guys' situations, although I'm not up to tricking other people. Everyone's has their own experiences and it shapes their personality, so it's ok to be who you are unless someone gets gravely hurt by your actions.

So for the longest, I often feel like an outsider because my personality traits didn't line up on any personality tests my psychologist put me through when I was a teenager. Fast forward to me being 28 now and a first responder and trying again. I learned I'm a Dark Empath. However, my psychologist said I sought the most productive field because I understood it's the most moral and beneficial as a Dark Empath. I'm a Firefighter/EMT. I'm able to understand patient needs but not be affect if a patient doesn't make it. I understand if I recover a body from a house fire but still capable of preforming my duties. I'm able to make that disconnect and function. As I watch these videos to understand more, these videos are true. I hate manipulating people. I prefer a genuine response than a desired outcome. However, I have manipulated people, friends, family, patients, coworkers ,etc... when a desired outcome was needed or demanded. As it was put me, I am needed societally do the hard things other people can't to lead them through dark times.

If by "like this" you mean a "Dark Empath" as in the vid'... No. There's NOTHING wrong with you. Obviously having the gifts of reading people emotionally and then being able to decide what to say for the emotional response you want has advantages... You get to think on terms of "What do I really want of this conversation with that person" BEFORE you've let your foot fly right down your throat. It's tempting to use it purely to indulge yourself, and worry about hating yourself later... Until you've done something actually harmful in the fallout. Then it's harder to follow through and manipulate someone without worrying about them suffering fallout like before. Most people DO NOT THINK... They like to think they do, but quite obviously, they emote first. Thinking... REALLY thinking... takes time and energy. Most people decide whatever they were going to do on an emotional level even seconds before the circumstance to choose to do it came up. JUST like most people have their idealized impression of you within 5 seconds of laying eyes on you, whether or NOT you step up, greet them, say anything at all, or just turn and walk away. They've made several key judgments about you with just the most casual few seconds' worth of examination, even at a distance. You (however) are consciously aware of emotions and impressions and thoughts as they come and go. You can tell someone is less than trustworthy when they glance around the coffee table for less than 5 seconds and then erupt at the top of their voice, "Okay! Who STOLE MY PHONE!?! Why is today sh*t on ME day?!!" AND nobody had to explain it. If there wasn't theft in their heart, they wouldn't immediately assume someone stealing instead of them misplacing it, or it getting knocked off the table or under the couch on accident... Other people immediately KNOW their phone was stolen, because on instinct, that's what they've wanted to do... if not what they've done repeatedly. They look around and see plots and pranks and ball-busting... because that's how they conduct themselves in the world. Other people are afraid of you, because they haven't figured that out yet. Some of them never will. They don't realize that when they call you a self-centered and arrogant prick, they're decrying their OWN inequities and insecurities. You make them nervous because somehow, often without even really trying, you see right through their masks and charades and antics because you GET IT... It bothers them all the more they keep flailing to obfuscate their intentions and inner thoughts, but the more they keep trying (the louder they deny being a whatever) the more you see them as exactly they are. The punchline is, that it would be hilarious if it wasn't actually so sad. BUT this peculiar ability is NOTHING WRONG... ALL that can be wrong is what you actively do with it. ;o)

My psychologist actually told me just a few weeks ago that I'm a dark empath who is pretty close to being a sociopath. It is really fascinating to me because I don't plan on doing the things I do just because there "bad" and I mostly don't even have a bad intention. It is more like you know an easy and a hard way of achieving your goals. The hard one is to actually make compromises and build up healthy relationships with people. The easy one is indeed just manipulating the people to your will without them knowing. I usually don't cause harm to the people I do it on, but I wouldn't say that I never have. So I just wrote this to let the people know that we - meaning dark empaths - are not as evil as you might think. Of course there are acceptions but these are really just that.

I see ur point. Maybe or not it all were label bad guys as being dark emphat. Most guys with emphaty can progress to sincerely or dark. Maybe the ways can be so dark full, but it really depends to the person how things person react and to have emphaty to the others. But most professional said, if u are be careful there must be dangers not just for others but to ourselves. Mental health always can be affected in most good or bad ways.

After some time I started feeling guilty and stopped it, but when I try and achieve my goals it feels like its worth argueing cause its much easier. I dont have any bad intensions and try to be very legit around people I like, cause I know that something like that can destroy actual friendships. That does not make people bad people, you just need to find how you can help people with that ability.

So many doctors are dark empaths, I can attest to that. It’s not a bad thing though: you know exactly how a person will react, what they will think, because you understand their emotions. Sometimes we know patients better than they know themselves. It’s a trait that allows us to help people in a better way. And it helps us too, cause we don’t have to carry the emotional load of every single patient. Cognitive empathy can help a person as much as affective empathy. You can name their emotions, which causes them to open up and let everything out. After a talk like that they feel better and are thankful, even if you didn’t feel or cared about everything they said. It’s the conversation and the intent that counts, not whether you’re an affective empath or not.

I mean I feel like anybody could be a “dark” or a “light” empath depending on the social situations and their overall emotions tied to a particular person. Life is so gray, I don’t think anyone can really be so self righteous to think that they’ve never shited on anybody’s day, or manipulated somebody even if you manipulated them for your own good manipulation is manipulation... 🤷🏾‍♀️
@KxNOxUTA
@KxNOxUTA 3 жыл бұрын
I think there's a misunderstanding here. It's not about a person's moods. It's about the range on which a person is capable of acting. And talking about high values in dark traits is likely to be about the incapability to e.g. relate to others. As mentioned it's possible certain brain regions show no (regular) response. Hence, there's a physical aspect to it. So: It's not about "having a choice". It's about conditions where the choices are limited from the start. As far as I understand: The dark empaths pick up signals. They can anticipate the effect of these signals. But they do not relate to the other person. They relate to whatever the appearance of the signal means for themselves or if it's something they can make use of. It surely depends on how strongly they score on the dark traits or if they get therapeutic support etc.

@@KxNOxUTA I understand what you’re saying and the video, and I’m definitely not trying to imply that people can choose to be sociopaths or anything along those lines. However I definitely feel like people can choose to display dark empathic traits. I guess I can really only use myself as a reference but I tend to be a very deeply empathetic person I am really good at picking up other peoples emotions and reading them and for the most part I use this gift to help people and bring them a sense of comfort however if I feel like somebody has pushed me to the edge in a negative way I will turn this gift on them and quite frankly WILL display some dark empathic traits As a means to protect myself. I was also referring to some of the comments down below where people are kind of trying to figure out if they were in face a dark empath, or a sociopath or something along those lines and yes some people might be borderline sociopathic, or borderline dark empathic, but i’m also taking into consideration some people might have just learned to use these traits to protect them selves depending on what type of social situations they’ve had to deal with in their life I’m just kind of thinking out loud here. Using this theory of thinking excluding that some people really do have this type of mental issue people can use these “skills” these aspects of the darker parts of themselves they choose to display as a means of mental protection, Or in some cases some people might display these personality traits when they are going through a difficult emotional time. Using myself as a reference again I also have done this. Looking back at situations sometimes it has me thinking like wow am I really a bad person or a shitty person and it’s like no you just going through something or it was just that situation for that particular person etc.... A lot of these videos are generalizations so I can really be hard for people to tell on what aspect do they fall into this categories.
@KxNOxUTA
@KxNOxUTA 3 жыл бұрын
@@SweetBratz22 Oh, I agree. And the video actually addressed that! :D They mentioned that Empaths score low of the dark traits. Low is not "there are none" :'D. But the main difference is really between "feeling" the other person and "understanding with your mind how human reactions work". As you mentioned you do use it for others. For a dark empath, the motivation is mostly "themselves". That should simplify finding the answer. At the same time, it's clearly stated this is not for (self)diagnosis. Rather than that: the moment people are in doubt should be the moment they get encouraged in seeking professional advice even if just to settle their concerns. To read more if the topic even is a good start. Since it's a brief introduction. After all, there's so many reasons that can affect a person's behaviour. There's a difference between "who" and "how" we are and "how we act". People and their environment are complex. We love to create "shelves" and generalise to speed up the handling of information. But at the end of the day even on a scale between Empath and Dark Empath you'll have many many many variations and degrees.

I met Psych2Go during a time of depression. I was extremely sad because my 5 year friendship ended due to one argument. I was honestly crying everyday, just depressed, to the point where I just broke down after a few days. My sister told me to just forget about him and my friends told me he just didn’t know how to deal with this argument because he was tired. But I just couldn’t talk the words of any of them because it was our first argument that he just didn’t bother to fix with me and it’s extremely hard for me to just “forget” about him. I lost a dear friend in a similar way. I made mistakes and he told me about them and helped me to fix them, I felt really bad when he mentioned I may need mental help but I still went to mental health people and it ended really bad for me. But he was kind until he talked with one person. Then suddenly he became really bad to me even if I tried to be better. In the end both of them blocked me but he said he will unblock me if I will change and he could observe it on one server. I was told I'm bringing up too much problems so I started being more positive and got banned for "pushing positivity". Recently I was told that someone told him and this other person lies about me. But not sure who did it. It looked like one person who was my friend before did it or some her friend did it and also told her something bad. But it would be then someone I don't know. So even if I tried my best and went through the worst humiliation in the world for my friend he blocked me but probably not because of my real mistakes I really did and I did my best to fix them, but because of something I didn't do and I even don't know what it is. I was told that making new friends and forgetting can help. But I feel I can't do it. Because just "moving on" means "giving up" for me, and even if I will find new friends (I have cute people, friends and one totally important person) but I'm scared that this will happen again. That there are things I may accidentally do and hurt people, or there are people who want to hurt me or just both. But if having new friends can help, can I be your friend? Even if there is no hope for me, I want to take care of you and make you happy. You deserve more happiness that I can imagine there can exist. But I want to do my best to make you as much happy as I can.

Feels like especially during my younger years, I fit the dark empath persona perfectly. I was very calculated but not as devious, meant to manipulate others although that did occur sometimes, I was mostly aware of the dark triads and kept them in check. For a little while I had the perspective that there's four type of people, sheep, herders, wolves, and farmers. The sheep who are happy to graze on the land of the farmer protected from danger, the herders who work together with keeping the sheep in check as it's mutually benificial, the wolves who are in direct competition with the herders and farmers for the sheep, and the land owner who keeps the herders and sheep around as long as they benefit from it. Feeling like I had no other choice, the wolf looked like a better option, even if it was just to flash my fangs and claws when needed. The older I grew, the more I felt a responsibility towards protecting those who are being taken advantage of, and realized that it was one big lesson on what matters in life, which is that there is no virtue in being defenceless in the face of highly intelligent and manipulative people, but rather learn from those experiences to do good.

I wasn’t born an empath. But the series of my life made become one after all the incidents that happened and growing up around a certain environment I became one. Its so crazy I was put in the hands of a narcissist at a point in my life I felt like I just wanted to disappear from the face of the earth. After all of it I learned how different and dangerous people can be. It’s dark. I just completely shut off and was scared to make new friends and meet new people. I also used to have depression, that’s what escalated the psychological abuse but even before the rough time I used to be an empath I think it was after an accident I experienced of an accident I was involved in in first grade. and since the days the person who hurt me after they clashed with me made became even wiser. But I was a regular empathetic and high sensing person. I could feel the slightest difference in ones presence. I think it was by the way my mother has raised me. I really am not sure. But this made me learn so much. Along time ago I used to think that a narcissist is just a person who loves themselves and think about just themselves but didn’t know the damage they could do and the harm ..the extent of it and its effects on a person. Made me a lot more wiser.

To be a dark empath I feel you must play judge, jury and executioner. You judge people around you, size them up so to speak. You decide whether the person you've got your eye on should be messed with or not. Then, you decide (based on their character) if the person should be messed with playfully or maliciously. Finally you execute your plan with no regret. All at the expense of others for your own benefit or amusement. People are intoxicating and fiercely interesting. Be warned, you never know when someone will screw you over. So be sure your inner circle is truly tightly knit with no wolf in sheep's clothing.

I have friend just like this well I don't actually consider them friends anymore because for me friends wouldn't do something that will hurt you. After I went through something like that I can quickly spot if someone is trying to manipulate me, but I don't do anything about it because I hate conflicts but sometimes if they'll ask me for a favor that doesn't involve hurting someone such as helping them to study and things like that I help them. And right now some of my former friends (even though I no longer consider them as friends I did consider them to be my friends) stills try to manipulate me and won't leave me be maybe because they think that I can still be used in the future and even if they'll leave me because they'll consider me useless in the future I'm fine with that I try to be useless for them and don't help them when they try to manipulate other people and sometimes I protect those people that they're trying to manipulate (unless they're going to manipulate another manipulators)

Shadow Work is important, more empaths need to investigate their shadow. Insistence on positivity and Love and Light 100% of the time is actually pretty toxic. Theres yin AND yang in here. If we ignore our shadows they dont go away, they only gain more power over your life. To control your dark side you MUST accept that it is there. If you dont, it will be pulling your strings in secret.

I've made a conscious decision not to care much about narcissists, and it seemed kind of easy to do. smh I'm thinking positive these days. I think this has been very insightful honestly. I watched another video on dark empathy (from this channel) and am starting to wonder if that is in fact what i am. If that the case though, i have to say the last line in this video is much appreciated, as, while its very true, manipulation is one of the easiest things in the world for me to do, its something i do my very best to not do. Its also worth noting that sometimes i don't even know that im doing it until im at the end and have exactly what i desired. Its almost second nature at this point, and can be quite a struggle to hold it at bay. But its this bit that makes me wonder if this qualifies * technically * as dark empathy, as im very aware of my own wishes and desires, as well as the great temptations that follow, yet choose to suppress the abilities i have so that it doesn't hinder or harm others, regardless of how badly i may sometimes wish to do otherwise.. I like to imagine a careful giant in a glass house when thinking about this P: Though whether its ego, or fact still remains untested, and i.. genuinely don't want to try and push it to the limits. Ive seen what its like to be on the other end of that kind of wrath...

Your intentions are in a loving place Milly. Your awareness of your capacity to manipulate and how you've actively suppressed the thoughts and behaviors associated with manipulating others I feel is telling that you do care and have a big heart. This is just my two cents, I wonder and feel that you are very introspective and maybe often analyze and critique yourself. I think you clearly value other's thoughts and feelings since you put in the effort to listen to others while putting down your own capabilities to do harm. If you were truly a full blown dark empath, I feel that you wouldn't consistently put effort into being empathetic. Even though the traits of dark empaths suggest that they only use empathy as a tool for selfish gain, you seem to hold genuine awareness and concern for how you experience empathy. After watching some videos on this subject I feel that I am a dark empath. Right now I'm trying to figure out if I can change and if so how to do it... I fear for my loved ones. As for you Milly you're doing great work with yourself, keep it up!

There's this history, of a person trying to help a butterfly by cutting it's cocoon. They must have the best of intensions, but we all know that this is not how things work To be happy, every human must live for itself in self-love terms, and beeing dependeble about something or someone won't help, becausa this way you can't stand by alone, something that will surely happen sometimes, and that's normal. Does it make sense? I assume you're not a psychologist, and even if you were, you must not give them a solution, just support. You can't help them by cutting it's cocoon. The only way for them to 'get better', is by exiting this unhealthy cycle, with a help of a expert It's better if you talk to a psychologist, I'm not one and all that I said is my personal experience, please keep that in mind. Still, I hope I helped

Perhaps express emotional boundaries. If they don't already, ask them to start asking you if you feel mentally up to them venting and coming to you. You should also not be the only one supporting them all. Don't they have each other as well? Also encourage mental health treatment. There's only so much many of us can do for each other. At some point a mental health professional needs to be utilized. Good luck!

@@NotAppIicabIe I agree! Many people just vent but do not ask the other person if they are able to give support. As for the Manic Pixie Dream Girl situation, tell them that they need to stop this co-dependent behaviour. You are your own person. Not their saviour. I think this may sound harsh but once you have problems they probably won't be there for you and lose interest as they view you as someone who is unproblematic and bubbly.

probably some sort of a dark empath, although i tend to do things the "correct" way, i would always have a backup move with some "manipulation" of sorts in order to secure my goal. As much as possible i would like to avoid the second option but at the same time i do not really feel remorse, and at some i do feel ecstatic really. It alsa have always worked as i've built my persona as an innocent "younger brother" in every classroom setting, even my classmates who are just a bit older than me see me as a "child" which at first was very insulting but actually had many benefits. This was greatly effective among teachers as well especially those with children as i observed they get "parental mode" with me

A weird thing happened lately. I was picking up a book about manipulation. The reason for that was I wanted to protect myself emotionally from a certain someone. Reading through the first pages made me realize that these skills are more or less second nature to me - I was just unable to identify them. As a kid I was having trouble being empathetic towards my peers. It took me many years of practice and I do remember that I used to copy the behavior of fictional characters because it gave me an idea how a strong person would be. Needless to say, this sometimes irritated people. Is this considered normal behavior?

it is normal for people who need it to be normal. I could have some socio or psychopathic tendencies but I know that because of my autism I had to see very strong emotional reactions throughout my life to be able to get normal ones. I usually find traits of characters I like whether I created them or not and apply them to myself or attempt to to give myself character. and yet at the same time I have barely changed at all. so that is that.

It described my past self to the letter. The difference is I recognized these qualities of myself long before I became too toxic to stand. It isnt a curse or quite as nefarious as some would think. The advantages work well for leadership roles when you are in charge of taking care of others. Oftentimes, you can subtly use the manipulation methods to give an individual a push in the morally and ethically right direction when guiding their decision making, like giving occupational advice that could better that person's future. Ive intervened on friends behalfs many times when they were about to make a huge mistake, like marrying the wrong person or maybe they were planning a particular action without weighing the consequences. Ultimately, I recognize that in the end I can only control myself and they make their own decisions. I just hope that I helped make their lives just a tad bit easier.
