Always interesting to see how wilderness riders in other regions roll. And for those of you that don't live in the wilderness on horses, while it surely is easier than walking when you are on the horse, it's takes a lot more work than non horse people realize. And ya can't just plop down wherever you want like a hiker and you can't throw the horse in the corner like a mountain bike when you get home. Need water and feed for horses, place to tie and you need to take care of your stock before yourself. that said, nothing else I'd rather do. good video, i liked it.

Great trip! Thanks for the ride. Me and a few buddies just got done with a 3 day 26 mile pack trip scouting for deer and camping! A lot of hot work in the summer time but we made the best of it! Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I'm from Brazil and I just discovered your channel. You need to make more videos like this, it's great to see the freedom you have in the USA to walk around with a holster and carry your own weapon calmly, your horses are very beautiful. You need to know the Mangalarga Marchador horses from Brazil. He's the most comfortable horse there is, my friend. A big hug!

Damn challenging trails! Horses did great! Nice weather = leave the tents at home and bring some extra beer ;). Too bad you had to cut the trip short. Hope your horse heals up quick, looking forward to seeing her on your next pack trip!

Glad to see another video from you all. Good content. Should new guys getting into packing go to a wrangler/pack school?

You can definitely learn a lot from a pack school but I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary.

Awesome content! My two horses are almost ready for the backcountry. Any chance you can let myself and others know what's inside your horse first aid kit? Thank You

That would be a long winded answer so I’ll look at making a video on it

Why is it important to keep the tail up on the rope when connection two horses together ?
@MatherOutdoors
@MatherOutdoors 4 ай бұрын
My experience has been that if the tail is down it will knot when the twine breaks however if the tail is up it will come out freely. Not really sure why that is but it’s been my experience. The outfitter I learned to pack from also told me the same thing, tail up.

How many miles did you ride also what state were your at?

I think we ended up around 35 miles. The plan was to do around 50 over 5 days but as you saw we ended it early due to my Senna horse getting injured. The cut was showing signs of infection when I got back but she is currently healing up well and on antibiotics. We were in my home state of ID
