Spent a lot of time in Annapolis in the mid 90s. Did a lot of pub hopping. Ego Alley was always fun. Once, I took my 1929 Chris Craft 24' triple cockpit runabout through Ego Alley and we got more whistles and thumbs up than any of the guys in the go fast boats. Some retired Navy guys hailed us over to Fleet Reserve Club and bought us drinks. Good times!

I have been following your travels as a kind of guide to our new life aboard our 50 ft. CHB. We are into our second week of living aboard! So day one we lost out electrical supply plug on the panel. So had to get a new panel an supply cord, then the copper water supply line blew so no water (garden hose draped over rail) then our AC pump tanked and had to fixed in 85 deg heat in humid Michigan! Then one of our bilge sumps stuck open and fried….I think once we finish replacing everything it will be time again for the winter hard 😂 lol you make it look easy…it can be so hard at time when your sweating and tired and nothing seems to want to work…but eventually we got everything back to right and now we are enjoying our boat and our retirement! Cheers

When you live aboard things breakdown quickly. Once you do the urgent repair work put together a replacement and maintenance schedule. You will get ahead of it but you will never be done.

My Dad had a cruiser and we kept it at Worton Creek Marina in the early 1960s. Nice to see little has changed. They used to pull larger boats on a marine railway since replaced ty the larger of the two travelifts. Things at Worton Creek used to pick up in June, you were obviouslly there before 'high season.' After retiring, my Mom and Dad bought a home on Still Pond Creek just north of Worton Creek. I love that part of the Chesapeake Bay.

Sounds just like our yacht when we took it out. It always needed zinkes. The zink helps keep the metal parts, like the props, from being eaten away. The packing of the screws is important.

As you probably know by now the dings in port prop should be dressed (filled smooth to relieve any stress ) the good news they were minor dings perhaps a crab pot strike! The zinks looked pretty rough, I hauled my boat every two years back in the 90’s due to the bottom paint that was being used (EPA wossses) bottom paint prior to that worked very well typically about three years. I forget the compound that was band I am thinking a copper sulfide. 😁🛫

Morning guys, Thanks for the new video yesterday. I think it's testament to you both that I need to watch at least two videos' to get my quota. I watch the new video then rewatch the previous video that was put out (this being the latter). You guys are one of the inspirations for our choice of craft. My GF and I are 50 somethings that in two years will be taking to the waters in a H58MY or LRC (as our first choice) and we always look forward to your content. We live in ATL but would love to drive down to meet you guys at one of your haunts (Florida will be our home state/marina). We owe you much thanks and booze, you have helped to inspire us to follow our dream. Bahamas awaits as do we on your new videos. I've been to Annapolis several times right where you dock the boat lots of good restaurants there. And, if you belong to a yacht club that has reciprocity with Annapolis Yacht Club you need to go there for lunch or dinner. And check out Faucet s marine supplies they have everything for a boat.

@@bertram46 I have a part-time interest in boats/yachts in different parts of the world. Europe seems to have some wonderful boat/yacht builders. The options seem endless depending on your location and the depths of your pockets. However, with the global increase in fuel prices I fear the overall boating industry will take a big hit except for the extremely wealthy. I fall into the group where fuel prices have an unfortunate dramatic impact on my boating enjoyment as I suspect it does others like me.
@bertram46
@bertram46 2 жыл бұрын
@@bobcathey8903 the prices of fuel are rising in different parts of the country for different reasons. In the last Administration we were actually for the first time in American history exporting fuel from our country. The policies of the current Administration has close to two operating pipelines and one or two future Pipelines they have also stopped current leases on Federal Land for exploration this is why in the United States we are paying what we are paying. In Europe and other parts of the world one of the primary sources of income for Russia is oil and that is why they are paying more along with the unrest which affects them much more than us from a psychological standpoint. ours is much more self-inflicted. Personally I think but you know what has not hit the fan yet in this country with all of the political decisions that have been made in the recent months. The stock market is wobbly at best very inconsistent all over the board and down significantly The Best Is Yet To Come in my opinion. Inflation of course as you know is out of hand and it's going to get worse before it gets better we are not seeing all the repercussions on fuel costs especially diesel in shipping. This Administration is still not doing what they should be doing to streamline the district distribution system getting Goods out to the consumer. And then we have that baby food shortage which is critical when you shutdown a plant that produces 43% of baby formula and you don't have the Forsythe to predict there's going to be a shortage that means somebody is out to lunch. And if China starts messing with Taiwan we will have even more unrest and possibly World War 3. I find it interesting a year-and-a-half ago we did not have any of this nothing and it was even better before the pandemic we had inflation of 1.2% before this

“On the hard” is boater lingo for the boat on stands on the hard concrete of a boatyard. I’ve also believed that it’s HARD work on the hard. Hard to climb into the boat, no air conditioning on the hard. And all the work is generally harder than you hope it will be and takes longer.It’s a noisy & filthy hard environment to be in.
