Does a “Clean” bottom have those white circles on it ? You leave the foundation and they will grow quickly . And if you are ok with white circles , don’t expect that prop to not vibrate or cavitate when running. You needed a haul out and a proper wash , scrape and sanding. Your diver can extend the time between haul out but isn’t going to prevent it . It does look like they skipped scraping the lower side of keel .

You should have your tanks cleaned if there is access.

The way I'm lookin at it is there is clean spots and Barnacle spots. Why is their not a even layer all over. Barnacles will grow on the entire bottom surface. The clean area is what has been scraped clean. The Props and shafts lower keel was not touched. Lazy workers , they only did half a job so that they didn't feel bad about charging you. Its a way of getting out and staying im sorry my guy did a bad job or I fired that guy.

The "sludge" in your tanks may very well be mold. It grows in the interface between the fuel, and any water that was in the tank. It remains even after the water is removed. You can buy diesel mold killer to take care of the problem. But, be sure to have plenty spare filters on board first. You will go through several before the treatment is complete.

I have 6V92 Detroits in my boats. I had an "algae" problem in my tanks a few years ago. I assume you know you have to treat your fuel or the problem will get continuously worse, because it's actually growing in your tanks. I used Killem and it works well. Since then, I use it whether I'm having a problem or not.

You are smart enough to know that your bottom cleaner must be fired. Absolutely no way it was cleaned 3weeks ago. Haul out and do bottom job. Anti foul is not working. Good luck

It's hard to believe your hull has been cleaned as you think. However, it's not obvious to me that the hull is contributing to your 1000 RPM and vibration issue. Did you get it resolved?

Exactly the same for us, hull was "cleaned" three weeks before departure, Vibration and low revs, bought in another dive company and found growth up to two inches in places. The original guys charge by the foot so go figure...... This was in the Palm Beach area as well.

The Indian River can be crazy for barnacles (I'm in Brevard county). I left my center console a week in the Indian River and had plenty of growth on the hull and outboard. From my experience, it's not unexpected to see that growth in a few weeks.

I had the same bad divers. Also I felt that in 1.5 years my paint had failed and diver could not keep up. Just went to a non ablative hard paint to handle the high water temps. The barnicles died the water was so hot here in Largo Fl. So far new paint works and self cleans at 18 mph.

and that's why I do my own bottem cleaning. Have had this happen to me in south Florida paid a guy for 7 months all he did is cash the checks. went to move the boat and had the same problem on my 52 hat cockpit. took me 10 hours and 3 dive tanks to clean the boat.

It's a pain, but just filter your fuel from the filling nozzle. Unless there is water in the fuel, there will be no more fuel issues. Speaking from experience.
@joelbowie35022 күн бұрын
Love your You Tube. I had a 45' Hatteras in south Florida for 25 years and had the same fuel issues you're having when I got below 1/2 a tank. I had the tanks cleaned and the fuel polished several times but that didn't solve the problem, so I just never went below 1/2 a tank. I didn't think of your pre filter idea but I think it's a good one. Your diver is lying to you, a common problem in that industry.

That’s a lot of growth in 3 weeks, I would speak to the cleaning co. And ask them to provide a video or picture when complete. Also next season try adding some cayenne pepper to the bottom paint, it helps. 🍻
@smcgee32362 күн бұрын
Haven’t heard that before, how much do you add what’s the ratio?
@larrys41092 күн бұрын
@@smcgee3236 I’m not sure of the ratio, a buddy of mine used to do it all the time and swore by it, I added about a quarter of a little container per gallon of ablative paint and it helped, I’m sure it will depend on where you do your boating. I boat in salt water.
@rawcadoКүн бұрын
@@smcgee3236 Just keep adding the cayenne until it tastes as hot as you can stand it.
