Great video explaining how to use a clicker if you want to use one. I, personally, like using my voice because I don't have to have something extra to hold/keep track of. Sometimes, when working with animals my hands are full enough! :)

I inherited a 3 year old dog with very little training. He's a good boy but I think clicking will help. I just got my clicker today. I'll be getting small treats for training real soon and begin we will. Wish me luck.

Sure thing. You can use whatever you like as the “marker.” Honestly, you could say “cheeseburger” every time. Words have no meaning to our pups until we give them meaning. Of course. However, anything you do with a clicker you can do with your voice. It adds a level of consistency to your training as your pup develops a positive association with the sound and anticipates a reward, whether that be verbal praise, physical touch, or a treat. As long as your timing is good, though, you can use your voice. It’s also great to get your pup used to multiple signals. The thumbnail says you don't need a clicker. So I clicked to find out why clickers are useless junk, only to see that I still "need" the clicker. And the videos about clickers. Idk. I'll see my way out.

@@elysola-hernandez7525 it seems like you may have missed the narrative of the video. I say within the first few seconds of the video that you can do all the same commands “with your voice.” The only advantage to a clicker is “consistency.” If you get your timing down with the voice commands, you don’t need a clicker at all. I don’t walk around with a clicker when giving commands with my voice, nor do most trainers. One of the things that many of have with us at all times is our voices. You can “charge” any marker…by working on your timing and associating it with some kind of reward. So, no clickbait. Sorry if that was not clear for you. Good luck in your training journey.
