2:16 my grandpa built that one! He probably got the instructions from a magazine or a kit. The sound it makes is great nostalgia.

It takes a special kind of person to appreciate these simple devices, but It takes an even more special person to create them.👍🏻

Cascade. The initial energy is of course in the placement of ALL the balls/& any beyond fulcrum weight of yet to be released levers . The initiating finger action releases that potential by maintaining just enough momentum to deposit ALL the balls- via gravity against friction of the balls & lever spindles & any air pressure on any upwardly moving wood 'planes'. I think 🤔.

I don't think these assemblies qualify as true escapements. They do not have the self regulating and energy limiting properties required to control a timepiece. They are closer to hourglasses with marbles instead of sand.

Very interesting I have made a lot of mechanisms but never have found a use for an escapement mechanism, but neither did Leonardo Da Vinci so I suppose these devices are purely toys.

What kid didn't like to play with marbles? I had 2 10 feet long rails for curtains. Placing them next to each other having the balls running down one rail and then changing to the other rail, coming back to me.....
