4. ETS2 v1.45 - Adjusting the Traffic Density and Spawn Rates

Hello everyone… Migs here again with another video tutorial…
Finally, we’re going to look at adjusting the game’s traffic density… and this is to improve the way the AI traffic spawn, merge, overtake and generally behave in a high-density environment.
You can currently see that the differences are quite dramatic when applying the g_traffic modifier… these views are values 1… 3… and 5…. Obviously the higher you go… the higher the impact on your frames will be…. But you can easily mitigate these issues by following my instructions in the tutorial.
It must be said that this mod is designed around version 1.43 of the game… and anyone using the latest version 1.45… will have to wait for the tutorial for that version as SCS has made significant changes to the relevant files that will impact the results.

There is another issue where traffic behind me keeps switching to and from lanes unnecessarily with this traffic_data file

Hi. I have done what you advised on here with Version 1.49 def files but it appears that SCS has altered the coding (Lanes x.x.x) etc and this setup now crashes the game. Any possibility you could revise for 1.49 please?

you're very welcome... because there are so many variables that affect the way AI behave, you will unfortunately have to spend time going through your mod and changing the parameters until you get the desired effect. Your pc has different performance to mine so it's impossible for you to get the exact result as I do and vice versa. Best is to keep altering the values and making notes of the changes you experience. I also suggest downloading my video and watching it slowly in your own time, you will definitely pick up things you missed the 1st time. If this is the only video you've watched, then I strongly suggest all my videos in this series as it was designed to be a flow work progress to achieve the mod to your requirements. The 3 main files that impact on lane attributes are traffic_lane.sii, traffic_rules.sii and road_look.template.sii Once you've figured these out, then traffic_rules_spawn.sui becomes relevant, so I really suggest you go through the whole series to get the right understanding towards AI behavior. At least by then you'll know how to mod effectively. Hope you get your results 😉

@@ZarkiGaming brilliant... talk me through what parameters you changed in which files? I ask because everyone has an different way of interpreting this and your method could help someone else too. I'm glad you learnt to solve your issue 👏
