On a high-fat diet of 30-35% of calories coming from fats as mentioned in this video, it's necessary to state: - Where the other 65-70% of calories are coming from - What types of fats we are talking about - The amount of sugars (of any type) being consumed, in what proportion relative to each meal. Regarding HFD not being "common everyday diet", perhaps this video should look into what is a "natural" diet for humans, rather than "common" these days. For over 2 million years, humans evolved eating a diet very high in natural animal fats and protein, without agriculture, eating only the occasional seasonal fruit to help with fat storage before harsh winters. Could it be that it's actually the high processed fats and excessive carbohydrates/sugars which are not mentioned in the studies, that are at the root of the health problems we see in today's society?

I think you are on to something here. Thank you for doing this video. I am 80 and I have something beyond what you said, that's important to share with you. I read a lot of MD written health books. In one there was a footnote referencing a single study that concluded that most enzymes in our body require an alkaline environment. A year ago I was having a hard time getting my NO numbers into the normal healthy range. None of the usual things worked. The NO conversion in the blood is accomplished by an enzyme in the blood. I started eating a strongly alkaline diet. It only took a day and a half and my numbers shot right up into the extremely healthy range, and they have been staying up as I continue to eat alkaline foods. My blood pressure went down, my insulin resistance subsided. At night I add 1/8 t cyanne to applesause, and also 1 T of xylatol. This stimulates the saliva flow in the mouth. And I can feel the parthenogenesis in my mitochondria going strong all night, and I have lost 40 lbs of fat. That's it. Thanks again. Over and out.

It was difficult for me at first but I've learnt to make it palatable. I fry a few eggs in EVOO but only briefly, so that there is a good amount of raw egg that will slowly cook from residual heat. Then I add the natto and mix it thoroughly with the partially cooked egg. Add whatever you wish. I add kimchi and Greek yogurt. That's a power meal by itself. While that might seem like a quick fix, it's actually a pretty extreme way of eating that cuts out a ton of healthy foods like fruits, veggies, whole grains, and legumes. These foods are packed with important nutrients that our bodies need to thrive. Here's the thing - eating nothing but animal products for a long time can really up your chances of getting heart disease, some types of cancer, and other serious health problems. Not cool! Instead of going all-in on the carnivore trend, why not try adding more plant-based foods to your meals? They're loaded with fiber, vitamins, and minerals that can help keep your blood sugar in check and support your overall health. Plus, they're delicious and don't come with all the potential risks of a meat-only diet. It's a win-win!

Awfully hard to judge a high fat (35%) diet without knowing what the other 65% is. I imagine if it's lean meats and veggies you'd have a very different result than if it was beer and Cheetos. Sounds to me like this "science" (unfortunately like most "science" these days) produced the results the funder wanted.

The balance between antinutriments like oxalates or phytates and the advantages of polyphenols is never discussed a pity
@MasteringDiabetes7 ай бұрын
While the concept of antinutrients like oxalates and phytates and their potential impact on nutrient absorption has been a topic of discussion, current scientific evidence suggests that the term "antinutrients" may be a bit of a misnomer. The notion that these compounds are inherently harmful or that they negate the benefits of other beneficial compounds like polyphenols is not supported by research. In reality, the relationship between various plant compounds and their effects on human health is complex and multifaceted. Many of the so-called antinutrients have been found to offer potential health benefits when consumed as part of a balanced diet. For example, phytates and oxalates have demonstrated antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which may contribute to the prevention of certain chronic diseases.

Hi Cyrus, question about chia & flax seeds. Dr Brooke Goldner is having huge success with her clients who have auto immune diseases, arthritis & several other diseases using cruciferous vegetables, water, & 1/2 cup chia or flax seeds. You can also have Avocados if you get the correct amount of cruciferous vegetables in your daily diet. Do you think healing these diseases might not just be avoiding fats but also something else? How to explain her success with so much fat 🤷🏻♀️
@dustinbarrington66457 ай бұрын
I’ve wondered the exact same thing.
@MasteringDiabetes7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. While I respect Dr. Goldner's work and the success she's had with her clients, I want to emphasize the importance of a truly low-fat, plant-based, whole-food diet for optimal health outcomes. I believe that even small increases in dietary fat intake can lead to reduced mitochondrial function, increased inflammation, and insulin resistance. These factors can contribute to the development and progression of chronic diseases, including diabetes. While the success of Dr. Goldner's approach may be attributed to factors such as the nutrient density of cruciferous vegetables, the elimination of trigger foods, and the overall dietary pattern, I maintain that a truly low-fat, plant-based, whole-food diet is the most effective way to promote insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and optimize health outcomes. In my experience, focusing on minimally processed, whole plant foods while keeping fat intake low has been the key to achieving optimal results for those looking to manage diabetes and improve their overall health.

Great video! When discussing high-fat diets and their effects on mitochondria, it's worth noting that the combination of fats and carbs, not fat alone, often causes the negative effects. Additionally, the type of fat matters-unsaturated fats generally support mitochondrial function, while saturated fats can be problematic when combined with carbs. Clarifying this could help the audience better understand the distinction. Keep up the excellent work!
