The images are taken by freelance photographers who have been given press clearance and can get at relatively close distance to the idols. That is why they can use lenses 35 - 105mm f/1.2 - f/2.0 which allow for a larger part of the idol to be in the original frame, allow for more light to reach the camera sensor, and also to use flash if necessary. A zoom lens used by a fansite member to take photos from a distance especially at low light conditions cannot compete. The freelance photogs do that for a living. They sell their best images to/thru Getty. Getty Images is one of the largest media agencies. Hope this helps.

@@relaxcalmly1742 All pro photogs shoot photos in RAW format with high resolution cameras. That way they capture more details but that could be a problem especially with portraits. But remember, idols go to events after they have applied make up and done their facial skin routines. Getty images have some basic adjustments applied but when published by magazines are usually without any retouching. The magazine editors don’t care to make idols look good. But if the client is not a magazine but the idol’s agency, or if a mag article is sponsored by the agency, then they do hire retouchers.
