The pen and paper helps to get that design from your mind to your hand before you go to the machine. It works.

I love that last spiral. I have a HST quilt called Woven that wants the sections in the front of the weave to be framed and those crossing behind to be denser. that last spiral would be real niice texture there.

Just what I was looking for! This is so approachable for using a home machine. Thank you for showing us something other than feathers. I make a lot of geometric/modern quilt tops and needed this inspiration for home quilting.

Glad it was helpful! I was so excited about this spiral series, I created a class. It's a featured class at the American Quilter's Society Grand Rapids, MI in Sept. ! I am so EXCITED. Just in case you are in the area, I thought I would share it with you. These designs are just the beginning. :) www.americanquilter.com/quiltweek/instructor/view/eventid/28/instructorid/142

@@LivingWaterQuilter Thank you! I had to chuckle - I’m in WA state but originally from MI. Last year, I was visiting friends in Kalamazoo and my (non-quilter) host took me to the AQS show in Grand Rapids! I’ll miss it this year, though, and I’m especially sorry to miss your class. Edit: Oh! Your clambake class designs would totally match two quilts I’m working on! 😍

I've only been quilting for a short time, but it turns out, with my Janome M7, which I purchased so I could both quilt and free-hand topstitch, I'm a natural at free-hand. I've actually, on paper, devised some of your designs on paper (we must think alike), but I haven't yet trasposed them to a quilt. I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm going to learn so much from you! Thank you for sharing your design free-hand quilting techniques. I know I'll be utilizing them.

My lifelong friend became a quilter 30/35 years ago (she went into Home Economics back in the day to teach, so, obviously is an exceptional quilter). Ironically, I have excelled her ability at free-hand topstitching (I'm thinking it comes from my teaching days of making fabulous bulletin boards, which I discovered, I did better with scissors than drawing)-- and, now she's sending me her quilts to free-hand (from Vermont to Oregon--and, of course, back again)! (Her quilts are so easy to free-hand because there are no ripples or bumps in her quilts, it's like having this beautiful canvas to play on!) So, I will be utilizing your channel frequently. Again, thank you-- AND, I will give you credit when I use one of your designs.
