Came here after listening to Ghent 98 (again) Barely 1 year earlier, and the voice sounds so different... we all grow old someday, and things change unexpectedly in life! Thanks greg!

This is amazing, The best post-surgery version by a clear mile. The only version that maybe comes close is the next show Winston Salem, but even still the tone and the delivery on this version is sublime.

The 1997 versions of the song have some real gems included! This version is among the most surprising EJ vocals from this era!

I’m sure it’ll be a real privilege if the entire unedited soundboard of the entire show surfaces

@@GregsynthWizard I found the setlist of this show and it is identical to Winston Salem the next night. It's making me wonder if he nailed the falsetto notes in Philly Freedom, Bennie, or even Saturday. Here's the info: 08 Oct 1997 The Roxy Atlanta, GA, USA Big Picture Tour 27 songs Setlist from 08 Oct 1997: Simple Life The One Grey Seal Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Honky Cat Take Me To The Pilot Can You Feel The Love Tonight Tiny Dancer I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues If The River Can Bend Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me Something About The Way You Look Tonight The Last Song Daniel Love's Got A Lot To Answer For Long Way From Happiness Made In England Believe Someone Saved My Life Tonight Philadelphia Freedom Levon Bennie And The Jets Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting) Your Song I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That Sand And Water We All Fall In Love Sometimes/Curtains

@@willthetrill4849 I am waiting for the day when that show surfaces too. There just aren't enough performances of We All Fall In Love Sometimes/Curtains in my opinion. I didn't know Winston-Salem was the next night.

and yet elton himself claims that the surgery took away his falsetto
@GregsynthWizard
@GregsynthWizard 10 ай бұрын
He's certainly said some somewhat self-contradictory things over the years about his post-surgery falsetto abilities, but he might be using his peak falsetto era as the main basis for that claim then oversimplifying the explanation. On an interview from 1987, he mentioned that he got his falsetto back three weeks after the surgery, so there's that!

@@GregsynthWizardCould be, considering the newest example of him properly using falsetto Ive heard is the new york performance of levon in 2018, tho it has always sounded fine to me despite Elton’s reluctance of actually using falsetto, he seems to be perfectly able to Interesting that interview bit, never seen that one, thanks for the info
