I wish his voice remained this good for a few years. I really like his deeper tone, but I miss the falsettos in some phrases and here it's just perfect. 2:08 I did not expect that, he nailed it.

Amazing vocals on this. Reminds of a mature 1984 delivery. I hope the full show circulates.

He sounds so strong, and hits the falsetto notes so easily.

Wow. A soundboard. Wasn't expecting this to be a soundboard from the very first show of the big picture tour! This was from The Roxy 10/8/97

@0:40, 1:22, 2:08, 2:50 at least he was able to hit that high note post-surgery 👍🏼

I was there!!! Tickets for this intimate concert at the Roxy in Atlanta were by lottery only! Best concert by far I’ve ever attended!!! I was standing so close to his piano I could almost touch it!

So ¿we have the complete soundboard recording of this show? It will be amazing because we don't have any soundboard or decent quality recording of these shows (1996-1997)

Hi Gary. There's some fantastic audience recordings from the 1997 legs of the Big Picture Tour! :)

The show immediately after this, 10/10/97 Winston-Salem, is very good quality and can be found in full on KZbin! The GBYBR on that tape is almost on par with this

Actually he played this in 1986 and 1990! But I haven't found any record of these shows. I hope that we can find it soon.

Richard Yang He didn’t play it in either of those years.

@@EltonStuff He may be referring to an error on the setlist.fm website? -- the times that he played the piano opening of GBYBR in the 'Bennie and the Jets' solo sometimes gets listed as a full performance which even caused me confusion early on.

He played this song after a long time. The last time was in 1984, then again in 1997. I don't know why took many years to perform it again maybe he was insecure if the song would work 1 tone down.

@@fod150 Yes, around 1990 he bemoans that the "soft notes are hard to hit" in the song. I think he had to rework it. He also comments in another interview that his voice has changes so much he had to take it down to sing it now.
