Good evening all. Was looking through some of the available guitars and saw Gibson is selling reissue SGs with the ebony block set up appropriately. A couple of the other guys I watch online that build use those blow up paint rooms.

Trog usually doesn't review import/cheap guitars. I just sold my 2 Epis - Korina/Gold '58 LE Explorer and SG Muse, one from AMS(same co. as Zzounds) and one from Sweetwater. Both were gorgeous, both sounded wonderful recorded - I wouldn't take these on a stage,lol - the necks were fine for my very specific needs - smaller hands - but ultimately it was the laurel board on the SG and Pau Ferro on Explorer that made me say bye bye. Get to a store and play some laurel and pau ferro. $550-$700 Epis play well, the necks feel fine they sound okay especially for recording - But the grainy sandy laurel 👎... . Using the credit I gained thru AMS and PayPal I bought a Gibson Tony Iommi SG off Reverb mint $800 off list and can't even look back at Epis That's just me butting in with my 2¢ and 58 years out of my 71 of jammin' 🎸

If you start with an SG backplate you can just make the route fit the back plate... otherwise, you could fabricate a custom one.
