I was looking around during Cyber Week here in Germany for a second guitar (roughly 8 month learning) and just by chance, i stumbled across the TE-40 TBK. I am not a gloss and gold kind of guy, but when it arrived...damn it looks so smart and slick. As a late beginner i find the TE-40 to be such well balanced and sounds absolutely amazing. String height is perfect, intonnation is bang on....for €139 one can not find a guitar like this. I started out with a used 2010 squier bullet strat, it has a small issue with the nut and maybe a few high frets, but as a beginner it works. This TE-40 is so sweet, i am keeping it. I may upgrade the nut and string trees as you did, but it is such fun to pick up and play.

I have three HB's. A tele-style semi hollow body TE90QM, and jumbo acoustic 12 string and an acoustic 6 string 000 dreadnought. The two acoustics needed setting up (the action was extremely high!), but that doesn't bother me, I like to have a luthier I trust go over new guitars anyway. The TE90QM, was practically perfect out of the box. All I have done to it is put higher gauge strings on it. Love it and all my HB guitars!

I haven't seen a lot of love for the RB600CS model (Rickenbacker 6 string) online and I'm here to tell everyone. It's AWESOME. I love that guitar and recommend it to anyone wondering if it's one of the better guitars in their lineup. I only had one MINOR manufacturing flaw with a bridge saddle that wasn't molded properly. I simply did a little hand filing to it and after that? not a single thing. I swear by it. As always, great playing Jonathan👍! You have a very laid back playing style.... Not sure why, but I ended up with SEVEN Harley Benton guitars, all of which have great bones (i.e. nice body/ tone wood, generally great fret work etc). Unfortunately, every single guitar had one or more issues. Some were quick fixes but others cost me time and money, similar to your tuning and hardware issues 😆. What irritates me is that the company puts QC stickers and tags everywhere but not a single guitar was actually QC'd - otherwise I wouldn't be writing this.

Jonathan Koh stopped the purchase after the shocked of seeing the shipping fee costs $155 SGD to ship to Singapore. Which is rather crazy for a supposedly cheaper guitar buy. :(

Yes.. the delivery is now handled by another company I think.. one solution is to get some friends to combine the order.. but I really don’t know what the situation with the delivery charge. I wonder if it’s a set amount for 30kg like last time.. or is it going by individual order weight.
@shiroangphotography4 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Koh yeah I sent them an email to enquiry too. They mentioned due to COVID they used UPS now instead of their usual (and much cheaper) DHL. UPS doesn’t have flat rate, and starts at a high cost point. I did asked them what is the previous DHL rate to Singapore, they told me it is 50 EUR flat rate (probably up to 2-3 guitars), whereas UPS is 97 EUR by weight. Although I tried playing around you might get a flat 97 EUR for 2 guitars for certain lighter models.

Hey Jonathan! I've had my SC Custom for almost 2 months now, also B-stock like yours but just as good as an A stock; mine is VB (Vintage black) with gold hardware (so aesthetically like your TE-40). I'm a newbie tho, but I love it. I am surprised to see that yours seems to be very light, since the only thing I dislike about mine is that I find it really heavy...no idea why yours is so light and mine so heavy since the only difference should be the finish. But anyway, I'm used to it now. There are several other of their guitars that have caught my eye, but I think I'd better wait and see where my playing goes to before I get another. So I have my GAS under control for now! Thanks for the videos!

Hey Jonathan, any thoughts on HB CST24T (p90) vs Fusion Pro II HSH? Am torn between the 2, would really love to hear from someone with experience on it :) (Background, play wide genre, mainly just record covers, current gear Epiphone LP with split coil and an epi sg special I'm looking to sell off haha.)
@JonIsJustTooLoud4 жыл бұрын
the thing is..they are very different guitars....Pickups and body wood difference...with the genres that you have stated...you'll be better off with the fusion pro series... I hope you have subscribed..and if you have, welcome to the channel!!✌♥

Wait, your SC Custom is "really light"? Mine weighs like.. a million pounds... xD
@JonIsJustTooLoud3 жыл бұрын
✌🤓
@melexdy Жыл бұрын
Mine is 3.7kgs which is considered as light for an LP. The body however is thinner than LP's or even the Harley Benton traditional LP models. The sc custom is shaped more like an esp and the pups do sound good when you lower them.a lot! Mine has some fretwork flaws on the 15 fret. 15 and 16 th fret sound very muted
@Winterhe4rt Жыл бұрын
@@melexdy Mine is closer to 5 kg. And even if that would be normal for an LP its ridiculous in any case. The heavy wood is proven by now to literally have 0 influence on the tone of these kind of electric guitars so its just a completely stupid "feature". Which is probably the reason HB fixed the weight for the newer models.
@melexdy Жыл бұрын
@@Winterhe4rt that's a big boy! Yeah I don't like heavy guitars either. There is no way you can strap 5kgs around my neck for more than 10 mins

Jon mate, most pickups will sound great into digital modeling pedals :D I think these Roswell sound really bad into actual tube amps or solid state for that matter! I think you will get more viewers if you mic a cab and play into a tube amp. Just my opinion of course.
@JonIsJustTooLoud5 жыл бұрын
Che Guebuddha sure thing brother! I respect your views.. but I trust my helix native ( not a pedal board) enough to know how each guitar would/should sound. As I do lots of recordings in this little room of mine, I’m more or Less am accustomed to how things sound like 🤓✌️
@mountainman87754 жыл бұрын
Che Guebuddha, I‘ve got a fusion pro sounding killer out of a Vox tube modelling amp.... I fear I‘ll never get to test them on a real tube amp because of budget, but it‘s sounding good so if it ain’t broke....

I had a friend make my TE-40 split-coil why do you say it can't?
@JonIsJustTooLoud5 жыл бұрын
Well I just found out that it is coil splittable if you want to! I just assume it wasn’t possible because the guitar did not give you the options. That is strange in HB’s part😄
@bluesman71195 жыл бұрын
I respect your views on HB and other guitars, it's great to hear from a Professional Musician opinions on mid range and budget guitars, , if HB were made in my home country of Canada or in the USA, or Mexico for that matter, I am sure the cost of that HB would of been at least 5 times greater than on the Thoman site, the reduce cost of labour and parts, plays an significant role and the ability to buy massive bulk also, but what I am learning is the quality is not bad or as bad as some are led to believe, the one HB that I have my eyes on is the Harley Benton HB-35Plus, ridiculous you can purchase that guitar for £176 pounds, I have mention the JHS Vintage Brand though a bit more expensive they have the Trevor Wilkinson guitar parts which are highly respected, great analysis as always Jonathan God Bless :)

mmm iam sorry to say that i disagree....... the tele style guitars are very hard to play. if i compare that to one of mine, where i just have to "kiss" the strings, on the HB i have to really press the s... out of them.also the price... for that money you can also get a good ibanez or a chapman or even a really good squier standard or 50s 60s squier. hmmm

@BrandOdyssey5 жыл бұрын
They all sound the same. Each model doesn't have a unique sound. They don't have individual sound character. I also bet they feel similar to play FEEL WISE. Compare that to a Tele vs a LP. They are like playing different instruments. Different feel and tone.
@JonIsJustTooLoud5 жыл бұрын
BrandOdyssey yes you are not far from the truth. But I must say that the fusion pro maple neck has a distinct tone to it. ✌️🤓

then again.. I played on all of them over here so they would more or less sound the same because of the way I tone them.🤓
