Tim when i was running Heavy equipment for a living every machine we had there was a 4 in 1 Bucket on it ,, the versatility of that bucket is amazing from tree work to landscaping and being able to use the bucket to say cut a inch or two of a grade using the bucket makes it easy.. just open the bucket some depending on how much you want to remove and tilt it so the front part of the bucket is the cutting edge and drag it backwards .. it works perfect...and also by fully opening the bucket you can move full trees by using the back or dozer portion of the bucket push up against a tree (the stump) lift up a little of the ground and just push it you cant steer anywhere you wanna put it..just keep playing with it you will never go back to a normal bucket.. to pick up boards like you were open bucket all the way ,, then lay it flat in other words so the dozer portion of the blade (the face) is facing the ground And on one side of the pile and the front part of the bucket is on the other side of the pile then close and tilt and close and tilt and close and tilt until bucket is almost in normal position i wouldn’t mis lead you buddy , once you learn how to use it you will laugh at a normal bucket.. i wish i lived closer to you i would come and show you how amazing they really are.. it was the right tool ,, just the wrong technic ..

My dad and I enjoy your videos, Dad is a retired heavy equipment operator and he said when he first got a 4-in 1 bucket he cussed it all the time BUT with practice you will wonder how you ever did without one. He did suggest that when you were picking up the rubble to open the clam all the way rotate the bucket forward and then back up dragging the rubble toward the bucket and begin to close the grapple. He also suggested a light layer of straw in the trailer before the dirt would have made things slide out better for you. Keep up the videos we really enjoy your efforts

Thanks for videos like this, they are extremely valuable for showing real world situations. These attachments aren’t cheap, and to see how they work or fail in different situations and conditions really helps a lot of us that are on tighter budgets make better decisions. So thank you Tim! Of course on the flip side I’ve spent a pile of money on my tractor after watching your videos...and frequently hear my wife yelling “shut up Tim” when she hears a video and sees that twinkle of I want one, in my eye.

I have a 4in1 Drott on a JD 350B crawler. I find it extremely useful compared to a standard bucket. Main uses of the 4 in 1 feature are 1. Picking up the last bucketful of sand, gravel or soil. No chasing material around and hand shovelling required. It picks up everything remaining in a few seconds. 2. Pulling large volumes of materials backwards, out of corners etc. 3. Cleaning ditches or cutting new ditches from the side. It's very fast and neat for this operation. Leaves a tidy rounded ditch. 4. Picking up logs. 5. Blade work (4 in 1 open). The cutting edge moves in closer to the machine with 4 in 1 open vs bucket cutting. More effective at cutting into hard soil, clay hardpan. Also very quick for pulling old fence posts when building fences, just drive down the fence line yanking them out with 4in1

Thanks for the demo, Tim. Think broom and dust pan. Technique matters. You are trying to use it like a bucket to scoop up stuff to carry...instead, try to spread the stuff out on the ground and eat it like a dinosaur...I think you can pick up more that way...come down over it instead of trying to make it skid into the bucket...The 4 in one would work much better than a grapple for picking up stacks of loose small material that would fall through the grapple. In addition, you can grade that kind of loose material going backwards by dragging with the open mouth, or by pushing with the relatively flat front...much better than a bucket. you can also distribute loose material like gravel by opening a small gap and driving forward...much like dumping from a chained tailgate on your trailer. It is a handy tool for loose, small stuff. It can also pick up the last of small material that you would shove around with a bucket trying to pick up. When the material gets big enough not to fall through the grapple, then it is the bigger tool to move it. Even then, don't you find that you come in over the top a little bit with the grapple when you want to pick up a pile of stuff rather than trying to push the lower tines under it first?... But, like you say, you can see everything on KZbin...thanks a million for the demo, and your hard work. I wait anxiously for every new one to come out and often review an old one to help me show others what can be done with the machine.

2 things Tim. 1 practice and watch 4 in 1 videos. 2 put a mount on the trailer on the right side in front of the tires to carry your forks. Always have your forks. The 4 in 1 can be a life saver. I have run equipment for years a lot of seat time on backhoes. My favorite was a Cat with a 4 in1 and forks remember you can't get around not having certain attachments but for general purpose work you will be hard pressed to beat my favorite. My buddies dad has one of these on his tractor, and he likes it for loading the back of the dump trucks. Apparently, he says it's easier to lift over the edge and then open up the clam shell and let everything fall out, rather than dump the bucket. Something about clearance issues he said. I'm not to sure, I've never used one before. A lot of times when someone tries to put two or more tools into one, it's almost always a compromise in some way. Most of the time I find it easier to just have multiple tools, rather than an "all in one" design. Great video you guys.

As you have learned 4-in-1 buckets are NOT grapples. They really are good at being a bucket AND a dozer blade as well as being able to pull large amounts of dirt backwards. In a pinch it can pick up a single limb or log 4-in-one buckets don't have the open gap in the side that allows grabbing bundles of trash. But another thing you are used to with the Artillean grapple (and one of the BIG advantages of the design) is it has two, independent jaws. Grapples with just one big jaw are not nearly as versatile.
@RoughNeckRage3 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ. I move brush, logs, rocks, gravel, dirt, and anything heavy with my 4 in 1. Experience helps with operating one. Tim is being very hesitant and easy on that thing. This is a bad example of the the 4 in 1.

Load the concrete onto the pallets and set that in farthest in the trailer for tongue weight. Then the wood, and dirt last from the sides to prevent the sticking to the bed. You do great work. Always different ways to get the job done.

We use a 4in1 / we call it a bite bucket all the time. Once learned very useful. Try this open your bucket all the way tilt forward till the open top part of the bucket is just past what your trying to pick up and lower the lift till on the ground back drag the material then tilt back and lower the lift then close the bucket. If you can flutter the third function switch while tilting back lowering and biting the material it works great.

Tim, if you could load the dirt from the sides you can lay down a sheet of 6 mil plastic first which will make stuff slide out much easier. Of course you will have a few bucks in plastic but it's well worth it. It's great to keep the paint nice, but paint doesn't let stuff slide out as well, hence the plastic. Obviously if you want to load from the back it won't work as well because I imagine the tractor will pull the plastic. I like the 4 in 1 bucket for the quality to save trailer space but it does not leave all issues unresolved. It works, yes, but in general it (obviously) does not work as well as the other tools do separately. Overall this was a very informative video Tim, Thank you!

Do you leave the tractor on site when you have a full trailer? Do you do anything to help from someone coming up and messing with the tractor or even stealing it ? After all you can just go buy a key

Tim, my 4-1 bucket was a $3000 mistake I sure regret. I later bought a grapple and find it far more useful than the 4-1. It is twice as heavy as my regular bucket meaning it won’t lift as much. I’m not happy with this bucket and would never recommend one.

Dennis...it depends on what you are moving and where. Yes, the 4 in 1 is awkward and not the best choice but as others have said, it is a multi tool. I move dirt in some awkward conditions/hills and it works great for that. It moves brush and odd shaped things better than most other options.

Greg K I totally agree & I use my 4 in 1 to pull out mid size stumps & bushes just fine 👍

There’s got to be something the 4 in 1 can do....my bet is you will soon be giving it a Thumbs-Up!! Hope so

Cool bucket. Didn't even know you could get one for a sub compact. I'm sure you will get use to it and find it very handy! Nice trailer! I don't miss that kind of work. I got anxiety every time I had to drive the mason dump to the landfill. I was always the guy with the load that wouldn't come out. "constipated' LOL.
@henryrodgers34095 жыл бұрын
That was a great job in dumping . That dirt was like mud and it's going to stick . Had a tandem dump truck unload a trailer full of manganese at work. Now when I say full I mean a load that's only a few inches high because manganese is very heavy . Up went the box and only 1 side of the box came out . Truck and trailer ended up tipping on it's side . Brand new truck . Be careful when dumping a heavy load making sure both sides are clearing . Not impressed with that 4-in-1 bucket . Like you said a grapple is the way to go. Great video . A good learning curve for your subscribers .

4 way bucket is pretty nice isn't it Tim? I like mine a good bit, it has a learning curve. It does add a bit more weight up front.

If you had a "Flip Screen" bucket you could sort that material right there. You could leave the dirt (if he needed it) and hauled the rock away. They are made for skid steer or excavator. I don't know if they could attach to a 1 series or 2 series. Call Flip Screen to find out.

The notifications from KZbin DO NOT COME FROM THE PEOPLE UPLOADING VIDEOS, they come directly from the KZbin Site Algorithm. If you are unable to comprehend that, there are plenty of those videos explaining that stuff. All you need to do is ask the right questions.

I personally don't like four in one buckets but they are a good tool but I do like that trailer I'll have to do some research and see if I can get one in my area.

That is why I like my tooth bar on my bucket. It digs in better and it give a nice extended lip for long boards/tree debris to rest on when its curled. The toothbar can be put on and off with two bolts but I would probably have just brought my box blade on the rear for ballast and smoothing. If you have a strong friend with a rake/shovel then when you drive into the pile he can shove some additional material in to make sure you get a full bucket. Unfortunately for cut logs or those bricks you got to get off the tractor and hand load into the bucket. We all want our equipment to look new forever but unfortunately you are going to trade time for utility if you don't get past that with the trailer. Great video! Oh and you are exactly right. You don't know until you try something. :^)

A four in one bucket are good they have there purpose they work good if that,s all you have my self i,ve used all types of attachments but i like a grapple and a bucket and my landplane for grading and a thumb for my backhoe

So I was considering one of these 4 in 1 for a 2038R. Would you buy it if you had the Frontier mechanical grapple? I now have added the Summit third function with dual rear remotes. I like the mechanical grapple but sometimes it would be nice to grab something with the 4 in 1 for just a quick load.
@TractorTimewithTim9 ай бұрын
I would never buy a mechanical grapple. The 4 in 1 didn’t work so well for me on the 1 series. Not enough flow to control it nicely, and it is pretty heavy.
@robthurlow13475 жыл бұрын
Generally with the 4 in 1 and 6 in 1 that are quite common here in the uk the trick to using the grapple of the bucket more effectively is to roll the bucket all the way forward open the bucket to full extension and then place it down over what you are wanting to grab. You need have moved the object around so thier is space for the top half of the bucket behind what you are wanting to pick up.

I like my grapple it's my favorite attachment, I think you will find the right times to use the 4 in 1. I do like that trailer thats one nice unit!

Love the trailer. I’m gonna have to go check them out. Looks like it’s time to replace my 10K trailer. I don’t recall seeing a video on the trailer I’ll have to go look back and see if I can find it.

Oh by the way...TTWT has been my "go to" for everything 1025r related. I recently did the 50 hr. service, had my tablet right there with me with your video cued up...just to make sure I crossed all the "T's" and dotted all the "i's" .... I really appreciate all the effort you and your family does for the "Johnny-ites" around the World....Thanks

lol honestly thanks for the laugh. I’m not making fun I’m being serious. I remember my first day with the 4-1 lucky I had a teacher but this was classic 🙏🏽😂. Thank you for that.

I would certainly prefer to use a normal grapple, or normal bucket over this, but if you need to constantly switch between the two I can see how it would be very useful.

Tim, I love the trailer and am considering one myself now that I have seen it, Curious though if I am misunderstanding the law or if it is different in your state. My understanding of reading if you ever have a tow vehicle (Trailer) over 10,001 LBS you need a Class B CDL. Can you help me understand if the Class B CDL is required?
@TractorTimewithTim3 жыл бұрын
No that is not a correct reading of the law. As long as total gvwr 26,000 or less, no CDL required.

I bought my tractor today and your videos have helped a lot. I did go with the 4 in 1 bucket instead of the grappler. I still have time to change. What do you think. I have a ton of brush and logs to move and a deck to excavate for Thanks again

I would get a grapple over a 4-in-1 any day!!!
@Ezrider3595 жыл бұрын
it may help you get a full scoop if you drive into the pile then rather than tilting back on the bucket first lift up on the loader arms with the bucket still flat to the ground and then curl the bucket back while your driving into the pile at the same time.
@angryoverlanding59555 жыл бұрын
I used a 4 in 1 on my 4410 for years and you just need more practice. It is very versatile. Think about opening wide and reaching over, then pulling back then rotating and closing. Also you can open full, tilt forward and place the open forward inner edge on the ground. Then back drag, it cuts in like a box blade. So many uses, just practice.

Good morning Tim! That's a pretty interesting design on that bucket. I can see it being useful for a number of things but not as a replacement for a grapple. Question for you - how do you clean up the street after you work on a property? Do you have a broom for the front or rear of the tractor that runs off the PTO? Thanks for demonstrating the bucket and the trailer! Cheers!
@TractorTimewithTim5 жыл бұрын
Hand broom and shovel. In this case, customer did it for me. ...with a blower. We have a battery powered blower which we need to put in the truck!!
