I used a brush attachment for my drill to clean the upholstery and carpets in my car. At first, I used a very strong brush attachment I bought from AliExpress, not realizing how aggressive it was. After seeing the damage it caused, I ordered softer brush attachments. Unfortunately, by the time I realized the mistake, the upholstery was already damaged-not completely ruined, but definitely not as good as before. It's a mistake I can’t undo, but I learned an important lesson for the future.

Made the same mistake when I started, luckily it was on my own car. Now I use the white brush attachments.

The white chalky residue left behind by some cleaners can be attributed to hard water, minerals on the area being cleaned, alkaline cleaners dissolving minerals and/or minerals actually in the cleaner. You can neutralize this by adding some sort of acid; citric or vinegar do an excellent job with this. Rinseless solutions aren’t very effective cleaners? No, sir, that is incorrect. They are highly effective cleaners. However, they aren’t very effective degreasers. It’s important to know the distinction. I use bubble free rinseless for pretty much everything. Yes, even wheels and tires. It requires a little more effort but it saves a bunch of time by using only one product to do the whole vehicle. It’s also highly economical. Of course, there are extreme situations that require more than just rinseless. Of course, there are more extremes that even heavy duty cleaners don’t work. 😊😊😊

Just with your first tip. I always tell people microfibers suck so bad for absorbing anything but all my friends will say is microfibers for everything. Glad to see im not crazy in using other towel types.

I find the white chalkiness is actually a by-product of the steamer, not the chemicals. Using steam on older plastics has a drying effect and it "shows" itself as white. Just what i've noticed but ill also be on the lookout for the chemicals.

I’ve noticed it with the meguiars apc like he’s said never used a steamer in the past.

I applied VRP from Chemical Guys on a friend’s car. It’s a great product that restores and protects plastic, but since it’s water-based, it doesn’t repel water. After it rained, the product didn’t hold up well. It left streaks on the car's paint near raised plastic areas, and the plastic itself had water spots where the rain seemed to break down the product unevenly. Later, I switched to a water-repellent plastic protectant, also from Chemical Guys, and it worked perfectly. There were no water spots or streaks at all after using it.

Save your money and stop buying chemical guys. Try Malco aqua bead

I’ve cleaned several cars, including my own and others', using a product from Chemical Guys called Nonsense, which is a very strong all-purpose cleaner that can be diluted. In my opinion, it’s a great product. However, when I cleaned the plastic parts and wiped them with a microfiber towel or brush, the plastic started to turn white, which really worried me. Sometimes the white residue came off after further cleaning, so I assumed it might be dirt, but I’m still not entirely sure what caused it. Some people say it could be because the plastic is old and was already damaged, not because of the product itself. After applying VRP or any plastic protectant, the plastic returned to its original color. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences as well!

Oddly enough, Meguiars APC is the one product I won’t use anymore. Unless I dilute it past its effectiveness, I get residue on everything.

Just spray super clean degreaser full strength on the entire interior, super safe. It’s also very effective if you let it dry before scrubbing.

Another young detailer who thinks he is the first to do detailing and feels the need to share his often repeated by others on KZbin expertise. There is more than his ways to clean a car so just do what you have had success in doing. Remember, you are not sending your car to the White Room at NASA.

He's been around for awhile, but honestly... is car detailing even hard? you could teach almost any normal person how to do 95% of what you need to know in a single day lol

Yup, this guy makes some good and bad videos. The products he uses aren’t the best in my opinion. I stick with specific cleaners for specific materials. I do not use APC for interior. It’s just a problem waiting to happen. Koch Chemie makes really good products!
