My understanding of why they resorted to capturing ships for ransome was due to no other options. These people were fisherman but larger ships from other countries over fished their waters and put them out of business. In the beginning at least they were just trying to survive but I am sure some of them got a taste of good money for their ill-gotten gains. FWIW.

I didn’t know anybody was still flying the old P2V-7s. My last flight in one was in 1968 when we switched to P-3Bs. I wonder where they get parts.
