The Fire Knights are the personal warriors of Messmer the Impaler, each hailing from families of the Erdtree's upper echleons. They would, however, be chased from their homes after pledging allegiance to Messmer. Only they know of their lord's affliction- the dark serpent that courses through his body, his flames becoming like serpents themselves. The helmet they wear increases maximum HP, Stamina, and Equip Load. Their caped armor increases the power of incantations utilizing Messmer's flame (Fire Serpent, Rain of Fire, Messmer's Orb). Their armaments become more powerful with Fire or Flame Art infusions. Wego turned to Messmer's flame in attempt to rid himself of loneliness, but the bodies he brought back to life brought no comfort. His helm reduces the amount of FP needed to summon Spirit Ashes. The helm of Kood, captain of the Fire Knghts, bears the visage of the creature that keeps the base serpent that lurks within Messmer contained- the mighty winged serpent. It also increases the power of skills utilized by the Fire Knights (Flame Spear, Flame Skewer, Messmer's Assault; Flare, O Serpent). Though Salza burned more villages and brought more destruction than any other, he had a disdain for barbarism, shown in his refusal to burn the ancient ruins. His hood increases Intelligence. Queelign sought to become a second Impaler, remaking his sword into the likeness of Messmer's own weapon. Despite his devotion to the crusade, he would eventually fall, with a fleeting glimmer of grace being his only salvation. One can use the Iris of Grace to obtain his Spirit Ashes, or the Iris of Occultation to obtain his weapon, which can become more powerful with Fire or Flame Art infusions.

I mean yeah we saw a lot of tall enemies but here's the thing, all of them had some proportions yet here their arms are so long in comparison to their body that it feels like every one of them got through some kind of quartering before joining the Messmer's forces

as fire knights, their emblem is the winged serpent. it could simply be a visual design choice to make them look more gangly and inhuman, meant to invoke a snake in how the movement of the knights writhe and sort of glide through the air.
