Jeff was just so wildly creative during his days at TSR, the 1e Manual of the Planes was one of the first RPG books I ever owned and it's amazing how much of the foundation of D&D cosmology is still built on his work. But I only read Jeff's D&D comics a few years ago--they were really good! Thought the John Rogers/Andrea Di Vito Fell's Five comics were really fun and Jim Zub has been solid on D&D comics for several years now. Thanks for posting the video, Ed! 🙏

I re-read the comics a few months ago and pointed out how I loved the stats in the back, and I think it was Jeff (or James, can't recall) who said those almost didn't happen. I love backstories like that.

3 years into a very snotty Pathfinder streak, holding my nose on 4th Edition D&D entirely, I found the (DC) Forgotten Realms comics. My interest in the comics (all) and the novsls (some) were awaken. I was healed, I now shrugged 4th Ed and delved deeply into the TSR Novels, from 'The Crystal Shard'.

My first introduction to Dragonlance was the 3 graphic novels. My favorite was the Tony DeZuniga artwork in the third. A lot of my Dragonlance material goes back to these books as my memory of the series

I seem to remember a manga style Forgotten Realms hardcover graphic novel series and the black and white Kenzer D&D comics that came out between the DC books and the Devil's Due books that didn't get mentioned. Any insights about how those came about or why the manga series never got completed and stopped part way through the series?

A question for Ed, should he have the time to respond; I am currently doing a deep dive into all things Waterdeep (basically pulling from every major source for the city over the past four to five decades and compiling every location and updating them all to 1492 DR for a massive sandbox campaign set within the city) and recently came across the Misty Beard tavern. Absolutely fell in love with the characters behind it, and was wondering if anything major has changed in the past 120 years since Volo's Guide to Waterdeep? Right now I have it so that Allet and Vindara still live due to potions of longevity and still run the tavern (in fact, I even had Allet marry into and eventually become the matriarch of the Amcathra family, fulfilling her goal to join Waterdeep's nobility) and I was wondering if you had any insight on the location in the modern day that you might wish to share.

43:50 "Put it in an AI" I imagine Ed had PTSD flashbacks of when I made a similar comment on a video from another convention (sorry about that, by the way - it was not the effect I intended). Maybe using AI to write whole books is an overkill (and also it wouldn't let people experience the fun of writing), but it could be interesting for brainstorming ideas (which is part of a bigger conversation about using AI not as substitute for human work, but as an enhancement). I guess that's a more nuanced (hopefully better) take on the topic.
