His view is obstructed coming in to the turn, and once he's hit the barrier he probably reckons his best bet is to just push through it, hence why he keeps accelerating. Almost worked too

It's tommy Rustad, he is still sometimes driving, but is mostly doing steward and organisational work. He was actually the head steward in Cape Town for instance.
