Our baby will be 4 months in two weeks. I'd say 3 months we had him on a routine laying him down at 8-8:30 rocking him to sleep and laying him down. Maybe one-two times a night he would wake and get fussy and as soon as we put his pacifier in his mouth he would go back to sleep. No night feeding. Sometimes would feed him right before I left to go to work and that would be either 5 or 6am and then he would go back to sleep. Now as he is about to hit 4 months here soon, he is starting to be more fussy throughout day and night. Recently had a slight cough and high fever. We know he is teething. And did watch your video on your teething video. Not sure if it sleep regression. It's only have been a few days. I'm thinking of starting sleep training here soon!

My baby is 12 weeks old. I'm watching this in anticipation of what to do next month. Right now he goes to bed about 9:00 and he wakes up about 8:00 with one or two feeds in the middle. I'm fine with that. His naps are still on demand but I want to create a predictable schedule so that I can teach online while he is sleeping so that is my end goal.

I have a 4 month old and we are LOST when it comes to sleep. I am unsure how to implement this into our own life. He wakes up several times a night and ofc I breastfeed him. I'm so tired of being tired and being woken up 3-4 times a night. I'm desperate! I'm finishing out my maternity leave and will be back to work in December and I REALLY want to get to working on this sleep routine and really have it down. The reason I went back to maternity leave from only working 1 month from my disability leave was because I was SO TIRED. I'm also so unsure of when to start.

My 4 month old goes down between 7:30 and 8:30. He usually starts feverishly sucking his thumb and that is usually when I feed him. He doesn’t wake up really and when he is finished goes right back to sleep. I would love for him to sleep through the night. Any advice on my proactive feeding at night? Maybe I should wait to see if he cries and let him sooth himself back to sleep? Amy advice would be appreciated.

Do you wake baby to eat? How long would you wait?
@foreseengust10 ай бұрын
I think the rule is to never wake a baby to eat, unless the baby is a newborn who is sleeping way too long or is underweight. If baby is healthy, just feed them after they wake up.
@foreseengust10 ай бұрын
At 4 months, you're supposed to wake them up if they're napping longer than 2 hours apparently. Not because they can't go that long without food, but because long naps ruin subsequent naps and nighttime sleep.
@christiannalewis65142 жыл бұрын
Ok I'm asking too many questions here, but here's what I can't figure out. You talk about 1 possible night feed at 4-5 months old. How do you determine 1. Whether they need it 2. What time of night to give it and 3. How to get them from feeding 2 or 3 times, down to just once? If you tell me I just need to purchase the course to learn this info that's ok haha😆
@littlezsleep2 жыл бұрын
Hey Christianna! My baby course will walk you through step by step how to drop the night feed down to just once between 12-5am :)
@foreseengust10 ай бұрын
The most important thing is to feed the baby enough calories in the daytime, and then the baby won't need to be fed much at night. After making sure to feed enough during the day, feed the baby the first time he wakes up, then try to just rock the baby back to sleep the next time, without feeding. Assuming your baby is 4 months and not underweight.

I want to add my boy only wake up once at night. This haven’t changed during the regression however falling a sleep is out of window. Before he would fall a sleep within half an hour after feeding max. Now he falls a sleep and wakes up after half an hour and screams for at least 2/2,5h before he falls a sleep again! Hi Becca! My 4 mo (and 1 week) has been going through the regression. He has been sleeping 6-7 hours stretches since he was about 2 mo. Usually naps 1.5-2 hours but recently has been napping 30-36 mins and I’m not sure how to count the wake window. We have the Snoo so he can stay there super quiet, happy and bubbling to himself for 30 mins. So if he slept for 32 mins and then stayed there for 30 mins. What should I do? Should I try to save the nap for 30 mins? (Sometimes it works!) should I count the wake window since he wakes up, since I take him off the Snoo (even if he has been awake for 30 mins) or something in between? He doesn’t eat at night but he wakes up and he goes back to sleep when we put the paci on. Thank you for your tips!
@littlezsleep2 жыл бұрын
Hey Pia! I would recommend getting out of the Snoo, swaddle, and dropping the paci. At this point he is developmentally able to soothe himself to sleep, so those props are actually hindering his sleep. He is waking up after a sleep cycle (30 minutes) and looking for something else to put him back to sleep. Prior to reaching 3 months he was sleeping 6 hours at a time. So for a full month he's just been sleeping maybe an hour to 2 hours at a time at night. Ironically, during the day he can nap up to 3 hours but that's very rare

Hi,Becca! My 4 months baby sleeps independently at night and nap times and I try to follow your schedule with 4 naps. He wakes up every morning at 7-7:30 and I try to put him to bed at 7-7:30 pm. But sometimes we cant have 4 naps because he has the first 2 naps of the day of 1h30-1h45 and we end up with just 3 naps because the 4th nap will then be very close to bedtime..but with only 3 naps ,because the last one is usually 30minutes, he ends up beeing awake more than 1,75 h before bedtime. So I don t know how to fix this,should I wake him up from the naps at 1h30 max if I see he sleeps longer?

Hey there, Emilia! Great question regarding the 4 nap schedule. We recommend capping naps to 1hr15-30 max on this schedule so that you can fit all of the naps in. This may mean you need to wake your little one up from their nap(s). The last nap can be a short, 15-30 minute cat nap, too!

i read that 30-45 minute naps can be common until 5-6 months…is that true? if baby is showing sleepy cues before 1.5 hours, will they be overtired for nap time?
@littlezsleep2 жыл бұрын
Hey Rachel! At 4 months old short naps are usually caused by three things: baby relying on someone to help them fall asleep, incorrect wake windows, a room that is not dark enough. Sleepy cues are actually not a good indication of when to put baby down for a nap! We want to follow wake windows instead so that there is enough sleep pressure for them to take a long restful nap

His naps are good i wake him from every one because i feed him every 3 hours... will be 16 weeks on Friday but he is normally ok to stay awake for 2 hours after his first nap of the day, so im trying to drop his last nap of the day because he will not nap before the 2 hour mark on that last nap, and if i waited for 2 hours his nap would be from 630 till 7 but then he wouldn't have a long enough wake window before bed at 830. I just dont know how to get around this.

Hey there, congrats on your little one! At 16 weeks we recommend a wake window of 1h30-1h45m, with a very short on-the-go nap for nap #4 - that way you can fit in all the naps so that you don't run into over-tiredness at bedtime! At 20 weeks you can drop the last nap and jump right into the 3-nap schedule with 2-2.5 hour wake windows!

We recommend a wake window of 1h-1h15 at 14 weeks but there can be exceptions! This length of wake window prevents over-tiredness and short naps! If your little one is staying awake for 1.5 hours at this age, and it's working for you and their naps, then that could be their sweet spot! The beauty is every baby is a little different, and that's why there is a range for wake windows. :)

My baby (born at 37 weeks and I’m EP) has been sleeping through the night (in her crib) since she was 8 weeks old. We’ve been fortunate to not have needed any nighttime feedings. Her daytime naps are mostly short - but last just under an hour on average. Should we expect a “regression” to occur??

Hey Jennifer! Congrats on your new little one! Your little one may have a 4 month regression if she is depending on something else to put her to sleep (rocking, patting, singing..) Check out my video on the 4 Month Sleep Regression explained!

Sounds like a great way to stress parents the eff out for not following your set in stone schedule for all babies.

Ok my girl is 17 weeks- we’ve been working on teaching her to nap in her crib for over a month by putting her down for her first nap in there. It seemed like she was getting it as she put herself to sleep AND connected her sleep cycle on Christmas, but since then she’s been resisting it hard and sleeping in there max 30 mins. This morning? 20 mins. The rest of her naps have been contact so she’ll actually sleep, and it feels like she’s tipping into the regression so I haven’t wanted to push it. If 2/4 naps are supposed to be in the crib but in the crib she doesn’t really sleep…how do I do this?! Help!

Baby is 19 weeks and sleeps independently but I'm just not seeing 11 to 12 hours yet! She is a chunk but is still usually up for 1 night feeding.

Hey Lindsey! It is totally appropriate for baby to have one night feed up to 6 months old!
