Thank you for mentioning my battery card. I'm glad that you find it useful. Thanks to your video the card got a lot of new stars on github which motivated me to speed up next release 😊 Now you will be able to show info from battery notes integration in more places than before. I plan to add some new features in the card specifically for battery notes integration in the nearest future. BTW I have linked your video in the latest release notes and on the community forum 😊

Love the battery notes one. thermal comfort I already use to let meywife know if her car is likely to need de-icing. The kitchen floors lights go red for bad traffic, blue for frost or pulse from one to the other for both when she walks into the kitchen in the morning. She than has an automation to scrape the ice....she shouts at me to get up and scrape her windscreen for her. Not so fond of that automation

@@BeardedTinker thanks! It works really nicely, the time to work automation is just based on the Waze sensor. It’s so much more noticeable as all the announcements get tuned out a bit!

Of the termal comfort component the absolute (instead of relative) humidity sensor can be very usefull. I use it for to monitor the drying of my laundry. Since with the exact same amount of moisture in the air the relative humidity will drop when the same air warms up and visa versa. Also comparing absolute humidity of outside with the absolute humidity where my laundry is drying can decide whether it is usefull to open or close the window. (and when closed turn on the dehumidifier instead) This has saved me soooooooo much money and the WAF is through the roof!

Did few videos on that - but need to check again data used for sensors as I've done some changes to heating in those rooms and it may have impacted math.

6:20 This part is not very clear and doesn't work for me. What do I need to do in order for this card to work/appear with a populated list of my batteries? Great video though as these are truly useful! Just need to get them to work now.
@BeardedTinker
@BeardedTinker Жыл бұрын
It depends- As I've shown in video, I've added all of them by hand. But you can use code from documentation to auto-populate it - check documentation here: github.com/maxwroc/battery-state-card?tab=readme-ov-file#default-card-config

I think a simple sensor, like a Tuya or Aqara temp and humidty sensor work well outside. I have a tuya zigbee sensor outside in a housing, it has been out there for about 3 years, and it works flawlessly. I just have it in a location that is not in direct sunlight so it doesn't report wrong temperatures, but all sensors will have that issue.
@BeardedTinker
@BeardedTinker Жыл бұрын
They do - people tend to overcomplicate things and try to find something for a specific use case (outdoor sensor) while actually, most will work if protected and housed properly. And that reminds me - still have unpacked SwitchBot BLE temp/humidity sensor, that actually is advertised as outdoor one. Need to test it.

Dober dan, thank you again for an informative and well structured video. For christmas is about it come, may I add a wish to my wishlist. I would love to see a "How to build a (or your) dashboard" including the code to rebuild it by the viewer. Currently I snip out some code of your videos, but with your experience, i would love to see how you setup a complete new dashboard for beginner and experts (you see, maybe this will be a series of videos) ;) Just a little wish for 2024. If not possible or too much work: No problem. Hvala vam na vašem trudu Reimar

Thanks for the great video, one more question: Why do your plants have batteries? Which sensors do you use?
@BeardedTinker
@BeardedTinker Жыл бұрын
Ah, I'm currently using mostly HiGrow boards with custom ESPHome firmware. Trying also Zigbee plant sensor, but not happy with that one and also not happy with batterylife of ESPHome one. Probably will replace everything with BLE version.

Also on the last one, instead of using outdoor sensors could you just use the senses from your weather integration?
@BeardedTinker
@BeardedTinker Жыл бұрын
If you pull them as sensors, sure, why not. But those don't update that often and also don't necessarily give exact data for your location. But for general use weather data is more than enough

Is there a card that has the battery percentage and the type of battery it uses
@BeardedTinker
@BeardedTinker 10 ай бұрын
Currently, not just one card, but with Battery notes and Battery State card, you can do that. Also from what I've heard authors have been in talk to make it easier to combine results from both components together.

I found no way to add batteries to the Battery Monitor that were exported via Z2M. The problem here is that they don't show up as devices, only as entities. And here I can only add devices.
@BeardedTinker
@BeardedTinker 10 ай бұрын
I too use ZB2MQTT. Not sure what devices are you using, but if it's via MQTT, you should see device with multiple entities. But you can always ask author, he is a great guy and very active with development.

Some (most?) indoor humidity sensors will not survive in condensing humidity conditions. I've ruined a few wirelesstags that way. They worked for a while, but never survived too many foggy nights.
@BeardedTinker
@BeardedTinker Жыл бұрын
I have 5 that are in "extreme" conditions - from temperature and humidity side - 2 for fridge/freezer, and two directly on the outside in Stevenson screen + one without a case also outside. So far so good after few years. Even batteries last OK, not as long as those inside, but still at least a year.
