My dad had an aluminum Panhard in San Francisco. Astonishing features, fuel economy and performance for the mid-50's. He was sad to let it go when we emigrated to the UK in 1957.

The Bristol 400 had the most amazing rapid steering quite unlike anything I have driven since. The Ginetta G 21 with Holbay engine was considered to be a very balanced vehicle to drive. The Panhard body thickness was incredibly thin and I once saw one in a scrapyard in crumpled condition. It looked like very thick kitchen foil. It seemed amazing to use something so fragile to create a car body.

7:52 ..... Built for long road trips???? You could easily fit 2.8 UK's inside my home state of Texas. El Paso is closer to San Diego California (724 mi) than it is to West Texarkana (812 mi). A little bit of gear head trivia, 10:34 .... this is from where the name "Panhard bar/rod" came from. Who would have known it was French, sacrè bleu!

Ugly Stutz!! The lead designer, Virgil Exner, was fired by Chrysler for the horrid designs he concocted in the early 1960s. Why didn't the developer of Stutz take notice?

I think I have a very rare car on my driveway… It's a Humber Super Snipe Series 5 from 1965. These used to be run by the British government, the Royal family, even by the police. But alas very few people in the UK knows what one of these is. Even the AA when I called them out shortly after buying the car and having it serviced, (rubbish Chinese "Locust" ignition parts), the AA man radioed back to the control room, after he told me he was looking for a Honda, told them it's a Humber, as in a classic car, and not a Honda. It's also been mistaken as a Hummer, even though I have told them it's a Humber as in Humber Bridge. Someone even asked if it was a Wolsley (10 out of 10 for suggesting another defunct British car marque). Mind you I fun and games when I owned a Bond Equipe 2Ltr Mk1. The AA kept on telling me that require a special trailer because it's got three wheels. And I did explain that it's got 4 wheels. Such is life.

Yep, Ginetta have been around for decades, even had their own racing series for a while, probably because nothing else could keep up! Re the Bristol, all their cars has walnut veneered dashboards! Very very classy! But to be honest, the Beaufighter plane looked way better than the 412/Beaufort! They looked better side on than at the front.

I can't believe that Zagoto would let their name to be associated with that boxy styling mess of a Bristol. I guess driving it would be okay with a big V-8. Is it me or does that front reminds us of a Yugo? I'm a fan of Bristol, their previous models were quite attractive but this one...ycch! The Beuford looked much better but still had that big slab over the headlights. If they had brought the hood line down to a soft edge it would have looked much better. Gorgeous interiors on these cars. The Panhard was cool ugly. It looks like the took 49 Ford, washed it in real hot water and it shrunk.

I have to agree about that resemblance to 49-50-51 fords. Taillights are almost exactly like the 51.

The Bristol 412, Italian design at it's worse, always thought that the Bristols that were built before the 412 were things of beauty. The 412 alas, was an ugly car that looked as if it was a kit car. Interesting upload.

Re-read the title, rare/forgotten cars YOU never heard of, not that no one ever heard of. You completely ignored or missed the context, not fair at all. I get it the state welfare education system has dumbed us down so we can't understand simple English.

The Bristol 412 looks as if Zagato wanted to sabotage the Bristol company. It is as ugly as a product from the garage of a talentless tinkerer. The sight of it hurts my eyes and I wouldn't show my face anywhere in this car.
