Everything is pretty clear. You tried to be very helpful in explaining what you did. This video would go to the next level in helpfulness by actually showing the sensors being added and put in place. I really wasn't clear on what I was looking at for the coolant temperature sensor. I could not see what was cut in where and it was a bit confusing for me. I'm very new to this and for the most part your video was helpful but I feel like I only got 65% of the information.

Sorry to hear that, but I do appreciate the feedback so I can make future vids better for everyone. I still have the van and the gauges really help give me piece of mind !! Thank you again for the feedback.

Very informative. I like the idea of tapping into the bi-pass water hose for temp readings. I'm having a challenge determining which GlowShift adaptor to use. Do you have the size? Also, what do you think of tapping into the hose between the water pump pipe behind the pulley and the elbow on the engine case as an alternative location?
@GarageKing3 жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks for reaching out. I just went and measured the old bypass hose and its 1 inch inside diameter. I looked everywhere for a place to do this and the bypass hose is the best as there is a fairly straight part where you can get the adapter in easily, its right between the cylinder heads so you get a true reading before the thermostat opens, and the reading is balanced between the two engine sides. I would go for that elbow as I think its too tight, plus I'm not sure if that's a constant flow area when the T-Stat is closed, it could be, but I'm not sure. I really looked the whole thing over and thought the bypass would be best. Still works like a charm (had the van out a few weeks ago) Its up to you whatever you feel is best, but I think the bypass hose between the cylinder heads is going to be the most accurate and it works. Gauges on these vans are a good idea because if it ever overheats you may find yourself pulling off the cylinder heads if the rubber seal splits.......

Great video, It makes me want to try the same set up. Did you post a full shopping list" that would be super helpful. Mahalo from Hawaii. 1989 2.0 T3

Thanks for the comment and I wish I was in Hawaii right now!!!!!!! I bought everything from www.maxtow.com/ the gauges are actually quite expensive so I didn't think anyone would want the ones that I bought (I figured people would buy cheaper gauges) The double vision gauges I got are over 100 each so you know thats like almost 500 bucks just for the gauges. The rest was not too pricey, the adaptor for the hot water sensor was the 1 inch one, and then just the sandwich adaptor for the oil filter. I thought it was really cool to do, but its not cheap that's for sure. I did think about cheaper gauges, but I thought what the heck you only live once !!!! Happy Saturday to you ;)

Which model of Glow Shift sandwich adapter did you get? I have seen conflicting versions form people for the 2.1L waterboxer.
@GarageKing3 жыл бұрын
Hey brother I looked everywhere for my bill and can't find the model #. Believe me I search, even through my emails. I believe you should get the one with the threads 3/4-16 UNF if you have a North American vehicle. Sorry for the delay, and hope I helped you out.

What brand do you have a link?
@GarageKing3 жыл бұрын
Hey brother, I found them on www.glowshiftdirect.com/ and when you scroll down on the left side go to the MaxTow Diesel gauges, they are there. Or www.glowshiftdirect.com/white-blue-maxtow-series/ They are not cheap LOL:) But they are good :) I'm not an affiliate and I don't get paid anything if you buy from them so its an honest review. Thanks brother :)
