THANK YOU!! Finally, someone who understands that those forst 2 games for the Bears, and for Caleb, were just about the worst Match-ups they could have been presented with. Now, yeah, you may be right in that those 2 teams helped him to develop faster, but as far as how he played in those first 2 games, its like he was set up for failure. Those 2 teams, the Titans and Texans, are great Defensively! Both have great Pass Rush, and the have fast LBs and very good CBs. Then add in the fact that the Bears had not figured out their Offensive Line issues before those games, and it was a recipe for disaster. Caleb played decent against the Colts, but it was in the late 3rd quarte and all of the 4th quarter of that game when he began to really turn things around. He played very well against the Rams, almost like a "Game Manager" kind of game for him. Then, in his last 2 games he has exploded. And I dont care what the competition was. He is still a ROOKIE in the NFL. You can only play (and defeat) who is on your schedule. I am confident that Caleb will continue to grow this season and the Bears will continue to get better and add more pieces to the puzzle! Theu will be a Playoff Team by next season!!

Once again I am here to say that I've sassed about Caleb Williams and the Bears system a lot in this past year, and today I am not going to add anything to the anti-Caleb Williams propaganda. I want to point out two stats, one that doesn't sound great, but has some interesting notes to it. Williams has a 40% Completion rate when pressured, that's 32nd in the League (I don't know just how many QBs count so that doesn't mean he's the worst QB in the League on this metric). However, for a night and day metric, Caleb has only 8 interceptable passes (#11). Meaning he does not really take risky throws when under pressure, he just throws the ball away under pressure. For reference, let's bring up Sam Howell who the Commanders wanted to replace. Howell had the 2nd most pressured throws last season, a 56.6% pressured completion rate (11th in the League), but he was #1 in both Danger plays (bad risk plays) and interceptable passes in his rookie season. There are up and down stats for Caleb Williams, but he plays it safe which is important for a rookie. He's not making "Rookie Mistakes."

I look back on that Bears vs Texans game and still think the Bears could have won that game and would have won with common sense play calling and common sense play calling. Matt Eberflus was wasting challenge flags and time outs and Waldron was trying to be a rocket scientist instead of a good OC. This is why I DO think the Bears should make a play for a stout DE to pair with Sweat if the cost is right. The Bears roster IS alot closer than people think. My biggest concern for the Bears isn't the roster, it's the HC and OC. If they can keep Eberflus and Waldron from going full crash helmet mode and they are able to bring in another standout DE the Bears will make the postseason and win at least one game in the postseason.
