I realised that as a homemaker and a mother, I wasted a lot of productive time in deciding what to cook, navigating through my fridge and groceries. Now, once a week before my farmer's market day, my husband and I make this food planner where we think about the meals we feel like eating for the next week. So we know exactly what we are having for every meal. This has been a game changer for us! We stick to the list for shopping, bring in less and waste less. And also the amount of time we save with just this 40-45 minute exercise each week is unbelievable 😁

i’ve done this for years, i’ve been teased about it…but ppl who tried it loved it too. I would make a weekly menu, name it week 1, and then do it again, after awhile you can just rotate the weeks, i always have a couple simple quick meaks, balance tge chicken and red meat…now i do something even better, i selected 2-3 meals for each day, Tuesday is always “taco Tuesday “…so it’s Mexican food, Friday is always cheeseburgers and fries, homemade….having a rotating menu based on the days makes even less decision making. i was forced to figure out something when my kids were in middle school and so many activities, that’s when i started. People think it’s more work, it’s so much less work, as you say, i buy exactly what i need. food is used and reordered.

The first time I used a timer to clean up my room, was a huge game changer! I realized how little time it takes to make a huge impact in a space. Now I take 30min each day to organize some aspect of my space. It's been so good for my productivity

Love this. I used to get my kids to do a 20-minute tidy. You can do any task for 20 minutes and often find you keep going after the time is up.

If you watch tiktoks steadily for two hours a day, then you will spend 672 hours in a year, which is 28 days. Therefore, it's like spending the whole February on tiktoks.. 💀💀💀

sorry but i think your math is off. 2 hrs a day for 365 days is 730 hours. So more than 28 days. it's around 30 days.

I feel like crying!! I really really needed this! I hope I implement it in my life, I’m ambitious but disorganized so that leads me to depression cause I realize I’m not where I’m supposed to be. I also like the way she explains it in a good way without making us feel stressed like other youtubers

Don't stress yourself out too much! Not everyone has the capability to be productive all day, and it doesn't make you a bad human if you're not :) Start small. If cleaning the whole apartment seems to overwhelming to me i set a timer for 15 mins and do what i can, or say: "today i want the dining table and kitchen to be completly free of clutter and clean". U go!

Stop trying to abide by the standards of other people. If you are naturally disorganized, embrace that. Read the book Messy. Look for tools that work for you (most in this video won’t). Look at your strengths and leverage them. You will never excel at something you are not naturally good at. An hour spent on your strengths is worth more than 1000 trying to improve on your weaknesses. You are probably more creative than most. Don’t bend to the standard. Not everybody has to be the same or do things the same way. Be truly ambitious by daring to be yourself and succeed on your own terms. Do what is productive to you. Take care.

I feel with you, struggled like mad since childhood. Let us feel mless bad in that society puts us up badly nowadays, we don't get to learn and to see good ways / habits, and society/ads don't show it. Cf today w old movies: The healthy ways were self-evident, even the poorest worke´r had sound habits (except f drinking) And the poorest africans etc are mucj´h healthier than Swedes lets say, who stress too my+uch , eat too much sugar and junk, and have the highest microwave border limits in radiation.

Setting up a timer when you do any task actually also gives you an exact idea how much time it takes to do it. I've often been pleasantly surprised to see that something I had been procrastinating forever actually only took 15 minutes and the next time I would tackle it straight away

To me, it's the exact opposite! (But, it works just as well.) I hugely underestimated how long tasks like taking off the laundry from the line and putting it away or vacuuming the floors or watering my plants actually need. I was at the opinion "well, how long could that take? Surely not more than 10 minutes!" Actually, it is more than double the time. I planned to do so much stuff in two hours and always was behind my planning, never completing everything I planned to do - always feeling exhausted and ashamed, so I began to procrastinate. Now I know how long it takes me realistically - and therefore I can plan much more realistically.

For me, I find it easier to start with the easy tasks and work up to the hard one. If I have 5 things to do in a day, and I get 3 of them done right away (because they were easy), then I feel more motivated and accomplished to keep moving forward. Plus, once the hardest thing is done, then there is less to do afterwards in total, so it is easier to relax! If I start with the hard one and know that even once I finish there will just be more work to do, it's much harder to get started. But, different things will work for different people!

same. if i decide to start with the hardest task i procrastinate. but if i start with a simple task then once i get it done i feel a sense of accomplishment and gets me motivated to do something else.

Another Tip: spend 1-10 mins at night to set yourself up for the next morning! Ex: have your outfit picked or decide what's for breakfast. I'm often in a time crunch in the A.M. or feel lazy, but I worry about my outfit anymore bc I spent a few minutes to take care of it the night before :)

Thank you so much....great information, I have never tried time blocking, it am starting today, I’m 73, been retired a long time....but am still busy and waste a lot of time. One thing I do everyday, is get up and get ready for the day, also clean up before going to bed each night. A good habit😊

I have literally just discovered time blocking for myself and got this video recommendation. It is truly life-changing. I used to do it on weekdays only, but I realized that having a plan B for the weekend works great - instead of relying on random things making my day I can fall back on a good plan actually not to feel like my day was wasted. And I feel at ease relaxing during my “relax” timeblock.

When I make a to-do list I put down the estimated time for each task. This keeps me from procrastinating. For example, cleaning the house can take me forever to get started, but if it's broken down into 10 smaller tasks of just 5-10 minutes each then it's less daunting to start.

this is so usefulll I do this now for example 1. tidy the dining table (5min) 2. Organise shelf (10min) and pre-written it makes things so much easier and ticking the boxes is so satisfying

I allocate house shores for weekends only, so cleaning the kitchen, laundry washing and folding, moping and bathroom cleaning, dusting …etc are done during the weekends along with grocery shopping and meal planning. This way I have the whole week to solely focus on my studies. I will try the time blocking method for my studies and see how it goes. Thanks for the tips ❤

Yes I tried the cleaning up everyday for a little bit and found this did not work for school. So now I will use some of Thursday and Sunday to do these things 😊

On my best days at work, I find that breaking down a big task into smaller tasks to be more helpful. It's like time blocking, using a timer, but for smaller goals. Let's say I have to do a project proposal, I'd allocate 1 hr to come up with a concept, another hr to find references, and another hr for budgetting. If I cannot make it when a time limit for a task is up, I know then I would have to compromise on the other tasks, or I need to get help. Either way I can communicate it to relevant parties before it's too late.

Similar to “Eat the frog”, I do things that make the biggest impact first. So when I’m cleaning my room I look around and try and identify the three things that if I did them, would make the room look better (despite all the other clutter) - normally this is making my bed! I find this motivates me because I feel like I’m making progress quickly!

Wow, I love the way you explained 'eat the frog', no one has ever really done it in a way that made sense to me! Also the '5 second rule' is WAYYYYY better than the 2-minute or 5-minute rule! I have ADHD, so if I have no motivation, then nothing in the world is going to get me up for something that takes more than 30 seconds… but 5-seconds I certainly can do :) Thank you for taking the time to make this video! 👍

I'm a teacher and one time I told my students "sometimes in life you have to do things you don't want to do." And a girl's immediate response was "like eat a chihuahua!" So now that's my motto! I've never heard of eat the frog but it's funny that it's so similar! Hahaha!

I always think of my to-do list and my alarms for time blocking as an order from my past self, and I really try to obey my past self because she really needed this thing to be done and my future self will be very thankful I listened to my own advice.

I leave my phone in the bathroom overnight and set my alarm to wake up 30 minutes earlier than I used to. With daylight savings time in the U.S. it’s a great opportunity to take full advantage of the so-called extra hour! 😊 I do not pick up my phone when I turn off the alarm and I do not snooze. Apparently, Snoozing causes a loss of 2 to 4 hours of productivity each day that you go back to sleep. I spend the first 30 minutes to an hour of my day with things that matter to me, I’ll give my time and brain space away to others soon enough for the rest of the day. It’s important to give me value first.

mashaAllah great clip! I tend to use tips I got from sh. Muhammad Alshareef years ago on a Time Management course: 6 D's- 1- Deter - e.g. unsubscribe from marketing materials. 2- Delete - get rid of what you don't need. 3- Do it now - if takes 3mins or less. 4- Delegate - if someone else can do it and you can't. 5- Date it - note down date/ time of when you will action the task. 6- Drawer - store what you may need later e.g. coupons

Great tips thank you! I have been doing time blocking some days and it is super helpful! It gives you an opportunity to create an achievable plan. If you just list ten tasks you need to do during the day, it might happen that you do bad time management and can’t do all that. But if you do time blocking and create a time slot to every task during the day you have an actual detailed plan and it is surprisingly easy to follow it! 😊

I’m definitely going to try the time blocking and assigning a specific task to that time - I usually create time “zones”, but more often than not it doesn’t work out. After watching your video, I think the reason why my time zones don’t work is because they are not defined enough. I’m eager to start planning! Thank you for the tips! Something I like to do that helps me save time in the day, is checking the weather and calendar the night before and picking out my clothes when there is less time pressure

As a neurodivergent person, I really struggle with knowing how long a task will take me. I started time blocking a little while ago and found it really helpful. Advice to other neirodivergent folk, or people in general. Don’t feel bad if you don’t finish your whole task in the block you dedicated. And I like to time block on google cal, because then I can shift things around if things take longer. Also, to add to the conversation, I set a timer sometimes, for tasks like cleaning, but I know that for work related things, it just increases my anxiety. Great tips. Thank you ☺️

Thanks for the reminders. I use a lot of these tips, although the 5 second rule is new to me. One of the tips I do often that wasn’t mentioned is “batching tasks”. I find it’s helpful for everything from prepping meals to answer emails or making phone calls. Instead of doing a variety of things in the space of one time block, do several of the same or similar tasks for a period of time. This reduces cognitive load and increases efficiency.

I create a weekly planner, which consists of a daily checklist of things to do. I draw boxes on the left and then write down the task next to it. I then tick the boxes as I achieve those tasks. I've always been a timer, so I always set my stopwatch on my phone, and this truly helps me achieve all the tasks I've set for myself that day.

Thanks for these tips! I do several of these already such as using timers for tasks and blocking out days to certain segments. That is good to know these tips are effective. I have to remind myself when I’m making tasks that you’re making progress. Especially if you’re trying to organize spaces like your room or your office, it’s going to take time, but you can do it!

Love this video! I'm big into productivity but hadn't heard of the term of micro-visualization before but use that strategy all the time! Combined with time blocking is a Powerhouse combo!

The tips in this video really do work. I have severe ADHD and these are things that I have figured out for myself through trial and error over the years and they make such a huge difference for me when I’m actually remembering to implement them. It’s things like this that make the difference between living a life of chaos and exhaustion versus a life that is challenging but manageable. (Life is never without challenges when you have ADHD, but there’s definitely a spectrum of how good or how bad it can be, depending on how well you can implement techniques to manage it.) These tips will help to not let something small snowball into something big that will be harder to deal with later. Great video!

Really? I tried this twice, my ADHD rage quit so hard I was over and simultaneously underestimating EVERYTHING, the blocks got thrown off which lead to severe stress + anxiety :D

I use time blocking, and even schedule in some breaks for “fun” time on my phone. But I also do a lot of my work using my phone, so screen time isn’t accurate for showing wasted time for me. Another thing I just started doing, is keeping a towel by my sink to quickly wipe up splashes of water after using the sink, so it can go longer looking decent before I need to clean it. In the future I’m planning to make enough money to afford a regular cleaning service, because mundane cleaning tasks take up useful time I could use for my career instead.

Something I do to stay productive is to combine 2 or 3 tasks if possible. For example: My baby has to be rocked to sleep for his nap time, so while I’m rocking him, I check emails on my phone while listening to a chapter of scripture. He has 3 naps a day so I save the productive phone tasks for then. It’s something I would otherwise just be sitting on the couch doing👍🏼

My babies are grown, but love it! Great use of time,Mama! I do Duolingo language app and phone games between my physical house chores due to cancer and get winded with physical activities. I also listen to podcasts and audio books when doing chores.

Or you could use your baby’s nap time as an opportunity to relax and appreciate your wonderful bundle of joy. They grow so fast it’s good to totally absorb them and relax yourself. Have a breather. Not everything had to be efficient. ❤

Honestly I NEEDED this today. I feel like I waste my time and procrastinate then feel depressed later because I didn’t accomplish everything that I wanted. Then I go into a spiral of doing this over and over

I set a timer this week to complete a certain task, and I got it done! Another time I tried setting the timer this week I was interrupted a few times because I work in a high traffic area and have constant interruptions.

I started making a done list that i write down at the end of the day. I found it really useful to look back at everything that i managed to do that day. When i have a to do list it tells me the things that i have done but also shows me things that i didnt mange to get done. But a done list makes you feel better because its all the things that you have managed to achieve that day, including things that you hadnt put in the to do list. It also gives me motivation to have things to write about on the done list for the day.

Yes time blocks, doing hard stuff in the morning, completing small tasks as I go and alarms have been game-changers for me professionally and personally. I’ve not tried timers yet though so will be giving them a go. Thanks 😊

Thank you for this video young lady. Came right on time for me. Been getting discouraged because there’s so many things I want to do around my home, and also make for my home, but months have gone by and not much has been done. So I realised that I waste a LOT of time in the evenings on KZbin when I get home from work scrolling through things I’m interested in just to relax before I move on, and the “few minutes” ALWAYS turns into hours. 😩 So I’ve implemented this today, and it’s been absolutely wonderful being able to cross so many things off my list. 😊 I wrote down that I was going to watch your video in it’s entirety and another video, so having done that I’m proud to say that I’m going to be disciplined enough now to switch off and get on with my next task (although something else did catch my eye 🥴), but no it’s on to the next task. It’s just common sense that if you get the most important bits out of the way, THEN there’ll be time to relax in the evening. So thank you, thank you, thank you! Same again tomorrow. 😉

Classic but great tips after watching amytv etc. Timers are great. I surprise myself with how Short a time Household tasks can take. When I am struggling to start with dishes, vaccuming etc I put a time on 10-15 min not needing to do more than that. I get more Done than I think and usually I feel this new urge to fully complete tasks feeling on a roll.

thank you for this! i need to start implementing these habits right now, literally procrastinated my whole morning today lol. a habit i like to do is have “zones” for specific tasks. example: a desk that is designated to only painting and creative projects (no eating or using my phone). in my mind it keeps me focused on the specific task that needs to be done.

I think these things are difficult. We are Tiktok a lot because we are stressed, but then when you don't get stuff done, it's also stressful. So it's a viscous circle. I think it's good to try to do better, but it's also important to figure out what your stress sources are and try to solve those or accept those.

1. Time blocks 30-1hour time blocks you are blocking out every hour of your day towards a specific task(ex relax, watch tv) Eat the frog(doing the most challenging task first doing the task that is technically in the important and urgent category) when you start with that task it’s usually the task that leads to the most procrastination because it’s the hardest task and usually the most important as well so by starting there it means you’ve completed the one task that you want to get done in that day The first task In your time block the first task in your day the first scheduled appointment should be that frog(what is the most challenging thing that you keep putting off) The five second rule If something will take five seconds to implement

Great advice. I do time blocking already :) Going to put my phone away and have certain times to check it. I home educate two girls. I time block everything I want to achieve, including exercise.

Great video. These tips really work. The 5 second rule is actually rooted in the fact that we have 5 seconds before our inhibitions kill off the impulse. If you take more than 5 seconds to stand up to get on the dance floor, you will most likely sit out the dance. Most tasks take more than 5 seconds, but taking the first step in performing the task takes seconds. I hate making phone calls. It takes less than 5 seconds to hit the call button. Once the phone rings, I am more likely to carry the call through. I had a high school friend once who moved past me at the swimming pool to leap off the 5 meter platform into the water below. I came back down the stairs. When I asked her how she could be so fearless, she said "that's easy, you only need to turn off your brain for a second, and then there is no turning back". That's the 5 second rule.
