Did you ever revisit your local (big green) hardware store for just the ball bearing parts? A link?

Here's a link to the ones that I used, at my local HammerBarn: www.bunnings.com.au/taskmaster-43mm-zinc-double-ball-catch-2-pack_p0035496

Those cupboard latched were like 8 dollars each last I saw

These ones cost $4.53 per packet, but after cutting them up that gives you enough ball bearing thingies to make 4 bench dogs. www.bunnings.com.au/taskmaster-43mm-zinc-double-ball-catch-2-pack_p0035496

Serious question, why are the called dogs?
@TightwadWorkshop Жыл бұрын
No idea. It's probably just an English-language name for them.

I imagine because they’re your workbench’s best friend.

That sounds like a good explanation, but I think we'd have to go back in time a few hundred years to ask the guy who invented the term. Language is funny, "dogging" used to mean hammering wedges into place to tightly close doors or hatches on a ship, now it means something VERY different. 😀

I saw 'improved dogs' and got excited, this video was very helpful but a mild disappointment from my initial expectation

My workbench top is only 1200x550mm. There's no way your dog would fit on that.
