@@jgaffney567 There are a couple of issues with what you are saying. You're argument doesn't make sense because that's not what happened. If people started hanging nooses on trees then yes someone should stop them then. That seems like it could easily fall into a vandalism or damage to the scenery and you'd have a better argument than "it will make us look bad". But that wasn't even close to what occurred and a little discernment would have gone a long way versus knee-jerk reaction. 1. By all appearances and rhetoric by the conservancy on their site and media promotions the space is a public space including park areas. Is there a sign that says "no photography past this point" or "call 313.566.8200 for permission to photograph". Where are the rules posted and how visible are they at each entrance to the space? 2. It's a public/private partnership, which parts are public and which parts are private. Is it just the money that's public and the land and profit is private? 3. What happens if you stand on the public side of the gray poles and do all the same things as you stated above with the space clearly in the background? 4. What about the hundreds if not thousands of photos and videos that both professionals and amateurs have already posted of those spaces online? 5. How does banning a group of photographers help in their mission statements like "Develop a collective sense of ownership, accessibility and responsibility" or "Create and maintain an inviting destination for all"

Claire K I do security at a park location that city donors pay a lot of money to maintain and we do the same because some people could potentially be doing something inappropriate. Maybe filming a music video with inappropriate content. I think the guard could’ve been more descriptive with what exactly the photographers were doing so the supervisor would’ve felt more comfortable about it. but yeah just felt like explaining because it is an odd situation that happens a lot as a security guard who has to enforce city rules that may not always make sense.

This is why we flock to online. I saw this post on pinterest. "Adults: no skateboarding on the sidewalk, no loitering at the mall, no drumming in your yard. Funding for parks and busses is socialism.
