Everything about this demo is great -- complete list of the signal chain using decent but unremarkable gear, a consistent loop for a signal for exact comparisons, no talking but somehow still gives insightful and humorous commentary, realistic riffs and licks that non-blues soloists might be playing... a sub for sure.

I get this opinion a lot: 'using a solid state / transistor / modelling amp instead of a valve amp makes this demo shit / useless / wrong / invalid'. Here's my long answer from my Klon video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYGvapmugq-giZY&lc=UgwVumdoH6gfiuA3WBV4AaABAg.8ubO8FTD9BN8ubk2BkI9G9 (read my replies to the first comment) TL;DR: 1. Most drive pedals are designed to emulate the overdrive or distortion from an amp. Using transistors. Like those amps you don't like. 2. It's not the '90s anymore. Solid state / transistor / modelling amps are no longer absolute pieces of shit. 3. These videos are comparison videos. It's not the base sound that matters, it's how they compare to each other. The differences between them are the same regardless of the amp. 4. Lots of people have non-tube amps, likely many, many more than have tube amps, and they use / would like to use pedals. Hope that clears it up.

I got the Little Bear R.Attack based on this vid after hear-seeing this: - The Vintage Rat mode was indistinguishable from the RAT 2 to my ear. - Dirty Rat Mode has usurped my only dedicated Fuzz pedal, an Ibanez Big Muff clone (SF-5) - Turbo Mode, with it's LED's just starting to flicker and clip offers a pleasing substitute for my Blues Driver clone (BO-100). It's a shame that wasn't demonstrated as it really shows what a versatile range that little R.Attack has; from bluesy edge of breakup to full on germanium fuzz - all for just £$€40-50 !

I've been through countless guitar pedal reviews on KZbin and yours are by FAR the best. When you directly compare pedals with the exact same looper sound, one immediately after the other, it's actually really easy to hear the difference between them! Most reviewers on KZbin fiddle with their guitars between turning off and on pedals, or play different things with different pedals and it completely ruins the comparison. Your approach is way better. Also sick riff 👍👍👍
@ThePedalBored3 жыл бұрын
This is exactly why I made them :) It's so difficult to compare when people stop in between pedals. I could never remember what the previous one sounded like, so I thought I'd try a different way of doing it, and I'm glad people seem to like it.

I own the Black Secret and considering buying the R.attack one because it's so cheap. The only advantage I see besides that, is that it has a Dirty Rat switch, which the Black Secret doesn't. Judging from this video, (I think ) the Turbo and the Vintage modes sound the same. Thoughts?

Cool comparison. The best I’ve seen. Would have been nice to add the jam rattler and the big ear woodcutter. For the future!

I looked at those too - and the Walrus Iron Horse - but they all were just straightforward takes on the original RAT2 whereas the Soothsayer has LED clipping, diode lift, and so on.

Just dropped cash on the Little Bear, has all that gating and sag of the original plus the other Rat models included, I bought an EHX Flatiron but it doesn't "crap out" like these do and that's what I like about the Rat, the fact that it smashes those diodes so damn hard with output that it sags and cuts out for a millisecond.
