I feel like LeBron has solidified himself among Magic, Kareem, Russel and all those guys who are in the top 5 somewhere, and Jordan is a notch above all of them, but if LeBron successfully takes down the greatest team of all time talent/skill wise, IMO he gets put in that Jordan category.

Both Lebron and MJ did things the other one did not do. Of course MJ fans only want to talk about the stuff MJ did. But Lebron has taken sub-standard teams further than MJ did. Lebron won without a great coach, much less the greatest coach ever. Lebron beat great teams in the Finals. Lebron could defend all 5 positions on the court. Lebron is the only player ever to lead *both* teams in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks in any playoff series....and Lebron did it in the Finals. MJ is the better pure scorer, but Lebron is the better team player and that's what I would rather have.

Hard to say. I would still pick the guy who can guard all 5 positions. The media votes on things like that and they do stupid things like giving Steve Nash two straight MVPs. Lebron is among the greatest defenders of all time and never won DPY? That's another strike against the media.
@LegendInThaMakin
@LegendInThaMakin 7 жыл бұрын
Jordan is 6-0 in the finals because he never faced a hard team in the finals. Jordan kept getting swept in the first round, Lebrons never lost in the first round. Jordan had one of the 50 greatest players (pippen) after only 3 years in the nba. LeBron played with garbage players for his first 7 years in the league, best player after him was big z. Jordan already had commercials calling him the greatest ever before he ever even made it to a single finals, he became the basketball messiah because nike promoted him as such.. he only started dominating after the bulls were stacked and bird, magic, etc were past their prime. He wasn't emotionally tough enough to play through his whole career, he retired twice, imagine how fragile he would be in this social media era. I could go on, people act like Jordan was flawless, God's greatest gift to man, I love no one talks about jordan getting destroyed by Shaq and the magic in the 95 playoffs after taking 1 whole year to rest.. like I said, I could go on and on. I kinda feel like LeBron is better, but honestly, if the Cavs beat the warriors this year, I don't care what anyone says, LeBron James is the greatest player ever in my books. I refuse to dick ride jordan like everyone else.

Well then go back and look how those teams played him. He was losing to hall of fame players and those same players was slamming his ass to the ground for every layup he took. Tossing him around like a rag doll in games lol. Let's have kawhi choke slam lebron after every layup and see how he reacts. Don't disrespect MJ. I'm objective though and I will say lebron is in that conversation right now and if he defeats a HEALTY warriors Team this year then he is the goat. Or atleast 1A 1B with MJ
@ethd2286

Boasting about being undefeated in the first round against weak sub .500 teams just proves Jordan is on another level. I'll take unbeaten in the finals over unbeaten in the first round against the Wizards and Pacers lol, what a silly argument. Not only did MJ not lose in the finals, he never got swept like Lebron, never got demolished by a record finals margin and never got outscored by a 6'0 bench player. In fact, all it took was 1 all star for Jordan to three peat while Lebron had to team up with 2 other established superstars to create a path to easy rings in a watered down conference. Lol I could go all day about this.

Woah, pause at 5:30.. There's no way that stat line is even remotely correct. I know we always seem to trust ESPN but I find it extremely hard to believe Iggy took 37 shots in the final 5 seconds of a game. I don't even think Brandon Jennings has been involved in 27 close games let alone take the final shot 27 times.
@GetOutOMahFace
@GetOutOMahFace 7 жыл бұрын
Nate Valentine actually that doesn't seem impossible. Crawford is known for hitting impossible shots, so I could see him getting the ball in clutch time. Jennings averaged ~22 I believe a couple seasons ago, he's always been a good scorer. Iggy is obvious because he was the best player on the 6ers in the 2000s after AI. Let's also remember, all players on the list have been in the league for quite some time and have had major roles in scoring.
@pixma38
@pixma38 7 жыл бұрын
That's their regular season numbers over the last like 10 years or something. LeBron is much more "clutch" in the playoffs. LeBron is 8-23 on game tying or go ahead shots in the last 24 seconds of a playoff game. By comparison Kobe is 7-28. But the stats listed above are also misleading statistics. Most guys throw up bad shots in the final few seconds because the game might already be out of reach in that moment. It's a poor sample size and doesn't effectively display how well players play in important moments in the game.
@eNVy_SiNz
@eNVy_SiNz 7 жыл бұрын
GetOutOMahFace it's believable if it said within the final 5 minutes of a game instead of 5 seconds.. It's hard for a team (Milwaukee) to conveniently have possession in the closing moments of a game 27 times.. It wouldn't be the first time ESPN has goofed on a stat, they've been on record retracting their analysis before. I know Iggy's past w/ Philly and Jenning's past in Milwaukee, it just seems wayyy too far fetched. If someone compiles a montage of Jennings or Iggy shooting that many times in the final 5 seconds then I'll believe it; until then, this stat is wrong *Lavar Ball voice*

@carltheblackcop3615
@carltheblackcop3615 7 жыл бұрын
Szx19 Lies. I have plenty of reasons. Here we go: KD was in a position where he could contend for a championship. He had another all star by his side and was literally one game away from going to the finals. Yes, you could argue that LeBron did go to the finals, but remember that he had absolutely no business being there and the only reason he was there because he single fucking handedly carried that team on his back. So LeBron had no chance to win a title. Reason 2, KD joined a 73-9 team, LeBron joined a 47-35 team who lost in the first round. Reason 3, LeBron went to Miami to BEAT the Celtics, not JOIN them. Durant JOINED the Warriors instead of BEATING them. Does that cover it enough for you
@Szx19
@Szx19 7 жыл бұрын
Carl the Black Cop You're the only one lying fangirl. I never remember KD telling Sports Illustrated that he was gonna build a dynasty in OKC and never be a ring chaser as LeBron claimed he would for cLeveLand in an '07 article. And you can quit bringing up '07. it was COMPLETELY irrelevant by the Summer of 2010. LeBron had gotten Shaquille O'Neal -- who wasn't the same as 2000 but still an All-Star -- he had Mo Williams, Antawn Jamison, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, 3 other All-Stars at some point who were playing great along with JJ Hickson and Anthony Parker who were playing over their heads. Amare Stoudemire could've been acquired that February also, Phoenix was shopping him and Danny Ferry consulted LeBron -- da KING declined it wanting his team intact as is. The Cavs had the league's best record and homecourt throughout 2 straight years running. 66-16 in '09 & 61-21 in 2010 and the Cavs were favored to dethrone LA. LeBron was back to back MVPs before he absolutely CHOKED against a Boston team out of its prime. Durant was never annointed or back to back MVP or favored for that matter to beat Golden State. He was a free agent and signed with a team he could win with. LeBron literally did what he claimed 3 yrs prior he never would do, to sign with two players drafted just 2 and 3 spots AFTER him!!! What Durant did wasnt worse AT ALL than LeBron...it was thee exact same! Jumping on a bandwagon cause he couldnt get the job done

Disagree with this. Lebron said it himself hes chasing the ghost of Jordan. I'm not saying he needs 6 rings but he has to at the very least have a .500 or better record in the finals. If the Cavs and Warriors face off in the finals like we all expect to we're in for an historic moment. If Lebron can beat a healthy Warriors team than his legacy is complete. He'll have beaten probably the best starting 5 you'll ever see. That Warriors squad is stacked even though it has flaws. Lebron and crew will need to be on point and elite EVERY night they take the floor in the finals and i hope they do. So sick of these Curry fans that still think hes a GOAT.

fuddyduddie1 but with your reasoning that would mean that players like bill Russell is better than MJ, and players like Kevin Durant and Allen Iverson are all tied for being the worst players in NBA history, if, like you said, only winning matters.

Markers Jordan's the better basketball player and had the better career. Jordan had an answer for anything you did defensively. He had the better jump shot, post game, handles, turnaround jumper, fadeaway jumper, footwork, speed, inside finish, both hands inside, pump fake, pass fake, could go left or right. Anything the Defense did Jordan had a counter in his arsenal. He was a Dean Smith prodigy, show LeBron a 2-3 zone defense as the Mavs and '07 Spurs did and he becomes a deer in the headlights and plays hot potato w/ the basketball

Lebron James recently said he's got nothing left to prove, which is something I briefly mentioned in his legacy video almost a year ago. Today I wanted to take a look over his career, and narrow it down to four reasons why he's simply got nothing left to prove to anyone. Do you think there's anything left? The conversation is so much different while he's still an active player. Haters will hate until the day he retires, that's when you'll be able to look at his career objectively. When he retires he's probably gonna be top 2 in points, #1 in playoff scoring, wins, total win shares, and all of those other key stats. It's definitely going to be a different argument but at this point I don't think he has enough on his resume to be BETTER than jordan, but I think he will when his career is over.

if LeBron wins 3 or 4 more rings by the end of his career would he still not be considered the greatest even with 4 finals losses? it's hard enough to get to the finals. that would be 10 or 11 finals appearances with 6 or 7 rings to end his career. that's pretty impressive

I think this is one of your best yet. Great format. Good argument. One question that I often feel like is missing from the GOAT conversation is "Who would you rather play with?". Who do you think other NBA greats would rather play with, Jordan or James?
@fujinofshadow
@fujinofshadow 7 жыл бұрын
LeBron is easier to play with and he would elevate a players game. Jordan would outright just carry you and treat you like cosmetics in the court. Difficult question. If you want to play and win, LeBron. If you just want to win, Jordan.

@alanartero1999 7 жыл бұрын
I guess the question I am really asking is: At what level does that become relevant when we are talking about guys that do belong in a conversation with Jordan, with nothing more to prove, and we're asking who is better?

You can tell he's angry about the Warriors. Last year he was passive against my Raptors, relying mostly on his teams 3 pt shooting, so when they bricked we took two games. This year he scored like 35 a game or something crazy. He didn't give us a chance. I suppose I just need to respect greatness.
