I love GDL! I also enjoyed Ajijic (stayed there on vacation for a month). My Spanish is very basic, so I'm interested in attending a Spanish school in GDL. I'm curious what Spanish school would you recommend?

Great video, I am a Mexican living in California for the last 38 years and planning my retirement back to Mexico. There are definitely many words and lingos in Spanish that are difficult and sometimes impossible to translate, but one thing is for sure, Mexicans are not racists, for the most part anyway, and not in the way that we see it in the US. So for someone to call you Negrito or "Negrita", is a way to describe you in a dear way, like someone that is chubby, will be "gordita", or someone that is blonde, will be "guerita", or someone that is short, will be "chaparrita", someone that is brown skin will be "morenita" and so on, these are some examples, it is more of a reference to identify someone, never about being racist, a Mexican would never understand the racism that goes on in the US and what black and brown (me) people go through. I lived in Guadalajara until the age of 17 and go back often, I hope you enjoy your life there, is definitely a lifestyle that I miss, and hope to go back to soon, I visit often and have family and friends there, if you ever need anything, I will be happy to guide you.

My only concerns moving there will be employment. Can we move there and get good jobs ?

That requires research because it depends on your specific situation. All visa types don’t allow you to work for a Mexican company. Assuming you’re American, you would need a Us employer or work online.

I totally understand. The difference is the purpose and history behind the word in the US. Those words weren’t used in other places so they have a different meaning and connotation like many English words used in the UK or South Africa that a totally different meaning in the US. Thanks for listening
