@@PaddyQuiggin Yeah, but knowing Rob and his occasional self-effacing humor, he might make the mistake of thinking -he's- the fuckwit, and not be as likely to really try and stretch and grow as much with that thing; which I totally don't want to see happen. I know that if I had a CNC with that sticker, I'd feel intimidated to not screw up, even if I was the one who put it there. But a band saw? A band saw absolutely could kill you, and boy howdy would it likely hurt like hell. Granted, you'd probably have to either get rather unlucky, or really stupid to sustain a mortal injury on a bandsaw, it can definitely make the rest of your day a hospital visit in a hurry if you don't respect it, which is what I read that particular sticker is saying by way of "This thing totally has the capacity to kill you, and any injury fatal or otherwise, is gonna suuuuuck; respect required."

With all of the violence that car is going to be outputting, you may want to consider soft mounting your accelerometers. RC racing drones pilots figured this out a couple of years ago, accelerometers and gyros don't like excessive noise and have a hard time distinguishing actual movement from excessive vibration.

If your going to cut material that creates a lot of dust, you should hook up a Shop-Vac and put the vacuum tube near where the blade is cutting, so it sucks up most of the dust in the predominate area.

When you machine composites it's best to use carbide or PCD(Diamond) cutters. Composites are very soft materials and are most similar to wood working in some ways. Set your RPM's higher than metal working and be gentle with your feed rates. The type of resin(epoxy/polyester) used in the layup can be harmful to breathe in depending on the Resin type. If you ever wanna fabricate your own CFRP parts check out a company called Rockwest Composites out of Utah and they sell all the necessary raw material to make what you need. Aluminum oxide sandpaper and scothbrite to finish. The maroon scotchbrite fine grit pads are used frequently in the aviation industry to deburr holes in composites. Monster Diamond Hand Sanding Pads can leave a quick and nice finish without throwing carbon dust into the air.

Rob put thin rubber washers or something between the AEM Vehicle Dynamics Module and that metal plate; I am an engineering student working with IMU’s similar to that, and the high amplitude, high frequency vibrations of your drivetrain will create a lot of noise in the accel/gyro data. Mounting it with some sort of isolation, like rubber spacers, will filter out the high frequency “noise”, that is not useful for your ECU anyways. That rigid plate is a great mount! Talk about solid!!! Will make sure the IMU doesn’t bend under the massive g’s haha.

To get those pesky carbon fibre edges clean and straight is a chore. I used to take a eccentric sander/grinder with a 120 or 180 grid sandpaper to clean these up. The flat sanding surface of the pad makes it easy to get your edges straight and you can take of minimal amounts of your material if you want to trim it just a hair more to get a really good tight fit around your panels. You can also use a Delta-Sander to get into tight nooks and crannies or angles. We used a Festool ROTEX RO90 or smth like that, these things made quick work of said edges. Remember that taking material away is easier than putting it back on :D
