4 Shabby Farmhouse Thrift Store Makeovers | Brass Candlestick | Shutter | Lampshade | Cabinet Door

I just love a good trash to treasure makeover! In today's video, I give a Shabby Farmhouse update to a few thrift store items: a brass candlestick, an old shutter, a plain lampshade, and a beat up cabinet door.
I mount the candlestick to a scrap wood frame with a shiplap look. The shutter gets a new look with a farmhouse wreath. Our bare lampshade is transformed into a beautiful shabby chic complement to the lamp. And, the cabinet door becomes a useful chalkboard!

Thank you Debra! I price using different techniques. Some are priced higher due to the amount of time required for the project, such as an item painted with 3 coats of white paint and sealed with wax or poly. Some items only need to be cleaned and sealed. I usually check Etsy and handmade vendor markets to see what a good average price is too. I don’t mind pricing a bit higher, because I can always reduce the price later if necessary. Jami Ray Vintage has a great KZbin channel where she upcycles thrifted items, telling what she paid and how much she’s selling it for.

I am sooo doing the lampshade on this ugly old lamp I have! I think some lace strips on on the lampshade between the muslin would look really cute and hide the light bulb and Hardware. Also, I like that little blue bird stick at the end of your video...did you make that?

Thank you! I would suggest an LED bulb rather than an incandescent bulb to avoid any overheating. Good question!
