What do these tips have to do with open water? These are common best practices for pool swimmers. Actually I don't think tip 1 and 2 apply to open water very well, where you often need to adjust your head position to have a look or to avoid wave. Also the tip 4, it is a typical pool swimmer's arm recovery. Triathlons tend to have a straight arm recovery.

Completely agree. I heard the first tip about only rotating your head just high enough to breath - this is the first thing I learnt *_not_* to do with open water swimming, where the surface of the water varies too much to reliably get a breath that way.

1. Leave one eye in the water when breathing 2. Keep your head still unless breathing 3. Rotate your body side to side 4. Maintain relaxed hands throughout the recovery. Your welcome!!!!
