You translate your mastery well in your videos,...and have a great ability to describe your technique to viewers, which connects us to your art even more, because we too learn to see the importance of the subtle nuances that create a convincing image, making us see as a master like yourself sees. I sure appreciate what you do, and the level of talent you have attained.

Another fantastic lesson with a LOT to think about like varied distancesbetween trees, light, dark, contrasts, foliage, movement of the trees, etc. One of the best teachers on the net i think. Always reminding us of the little things that make huge differences- your tree painting reminds me of Carlson and maybe Paynes trees too. Lots of character to them, making them the stars of the show.

When I see Phil’s work it’s like I just crested a ridge after a long arduous hike and far off in the distance is the actual peak which is my goal. At my age I’m just hoping to get half way. Beautiful work.

I have a photo that I took from that spot in Utah. I put it away because I couldn't get the trees and brush to look natural. I was a lot closer than your photo, but it shows me exactly where my mistakes are. Thank you 😊

Thank you so much! I'm doing trees lately, and while I've figured out some simple things on my own, I really plateaued in what I could do. Now I know I need to be more deliberate in designing the trees, and I'll be happier. My simplifications are a bit random compared to the beautiful thoughtfulness of your trees.
