Being a noob noob myself, I struggled with Maven and I really wanted to see how other people do it. On reddit, we get bot-like responses like "it really depends on your build" or "just take your time sweethurt (molests)" And on KZbin, people just boast about how they are defeating the UBER Maven so quickly and get Gaziliean Divs per hour Oh yeah, some small KZbinrs have Maven fights and stuff without showing any stats or builds so ... that's useful. Then your 4 stone race came up in my feed today and this is what I finally want.

Map drops for sure, you also need to make sure you are doing maps fast. Look at the atlas tree jung uses, you need to abuse kirac. Don't forget you can trade currency with the vendors for chance orbs and alchemy needed to buy from kirac.

WTB is my second favorite skill in the game and I often give it a try, the last one I tried building was on an occultist and resulted in the most successful I've been with that build. If I can't find a good slam build I like I will probably be trying out some version of this. WTB is just an exremely chill (no pun intended) build to play, it's very smooth, easy and comfortable.

The problem I see is we don't get enough time with the new patch info to test what will actually be good. They're more than likely hitting defenses (again) thus resulting in a lot of builds feeling terrible where they would have otherwise been fine in a previous patch. I think it's the main reason why you don't see too many creators doing this. Especially when it comes to finding some ground breaking tech that won't be touched on the patch.

How do you not get rubberbanded using shieldcharge? I have a very good internet connection but like every 3rd shieldcharge sets me back a little or gets stuck on some pixel on the screen. (european servers)

getting stuck is part of the life. most racers spend a lot more time walking than you'd think. you always want to walk a few steps between shield charges until you hit like 4+ aps. in general, people rely too much on moveskills too

Wintertide brand in particular feels amazing with profane bloom, something that elementalist can get too. But elementalist is king ( for damage numbers ), just because she scales effect of ailments, which boosts shock and scorched ground. On a leaguestart scenario, you dont have access to forbidden jewels, that's why I played occultist cold dot on leagustart for so long ( plus, on leaguestart, elementalist doesnt even come online, she is slightly worse than occultist ). Regen from occultist is fine, but frost bomb is enough already and you only need it for rares/maven bosses ( like you dont need disable regen as an aura ). The es regen node from occultist is extremely bad, idk how people pick that and think it does anything, a bit of es regen doesnt make any difference on an already paper character. As for the skill in question, wintertide brand, even if scaled corectly ( which no one can pull it off ever, even me ), it still has mediocre damage vs the normal spell dot setup. But since vortex is not automated anymore ( 1 more button press ), it's still "better" to play wintertide. I would suggest trying katabasis, which is not a meme at all. The damage on that skill is far better than the spell setup and it eclipses wintertide by a mile. Only weird thing is that you gotta get accuracy and extra strikes, so you must path down ranger area for the required stats. I pulled it off this league, being nr#1 trickster on ninja, which is cool. My char is nowhere near maxed, its even flawed for example on ailment avoidance ( I literally never changed my boots since yellow maps or something xD). But anyway, point is, in endgame is far far far superior and in early game is superior too. I had around 700k-800k dps total from 4l katabasis and 4l vortex( can use cold snap too), which is crazy. I used a 2h mace and meh gear in general (optimal setup is a 2h sword with % accuracy implicit, but I dropped the mace and sticked with it). If you fine tune the trash starting items ( meaning that you know exactly which mod is better early ) and make the tree much better, you can safely look at 1 mil damage ( on 2 4l ). But maybe katabasis is not for everyone despite being so damn good, it has that weird collision with rocks or environment where sometimes you dont shoot the ground effect. EDIT: Sorry for the wall of text, but it's hard to explain everything. And is very important to know certain things, because most people don't main this archetype and don't know the full picture. For example, with this skill, I've seen people that tried a 4 voidstone rush on wintertide raider and they said pob doesnt calculate damage corectly and it should deal triple damage. That is wrong, it doesnt do triple damage, not even 4 times damage with wintertide end's debuff overlapping, It has somewhere around *1.6 pob damage according to a series of graphs posted a while ago ( tried getting them since I didnt save anything and it appears as they were deleted). Even lance advocated for this build and said damage is wrong in pob, but he still doesn't realize that the damage is still subpar overall vs a traditional spell version or katabasis. What's cool tho is that you stick the brand on a target to deal damage, instead of leaving a ground effect, which is useful vs bosses that dash a lot, which most of em do. But that's just a bit of QoL.

I love this wall of text trying to explain that Jung and Lance are wrong just to recommend katabasis instead. Completely disregarding the actual proof that Jung has more damage already on this scuffed setup (1.5-2mil on a 4l vs your 800k on a 4l). You might be able to call it comparable at a stretch, to claim its "far better" is completely insane. You are also missing the point on vile bastion with EB+MoM. The reduced regen cannot be disregarded, you are in fact losing DPS by using frostbomb because you have to keep casting it, not to mention the QoL. IDK man your whole bit just comes off as really arrogant which is why I'm not being that charitable. Post a 4stone run with katabasis before you start talking smack about Wintertide.

​@@U2VidWVz I leaguestarted it since it came out in affliction, will do it in the next league as well. Im nr#1 on ninja rn if you type katabasis trickster and sort by dps. I cant verify the wintertide calculations either, sources are erased and their only place was reddit (unfortunatelly) and a few youtubers (but those had the numbers inflated which was wrong). The calculation which was used by everyone at the time was a 1.6 multiplier in pob. On reddit ( I hate to go on this site 🥲) were 4 very well put graphs, which showed wb's dependancy on cast speed, duration and I forgot the other one ( the 4th one combined all of these in 1 graph). Since Im not that good at math, I couldnt clearly understand everything and couldnt try to replicate myself in a doc. Only corner case where you could decide to reroll katabasis imo is if you find the skill annoying to use sometimes vs rocks or narrow spaces ( because depending on positioning, you can just not shoot the ground effect ). But that's it, someone else pointed that out as well ( im not sure if youtube deletes the comment if I say the name, but that guy is mathil, he made a tanky occultist with it a few months ago which you can check out). It's not a good reference on how he build it, it looks pretty bad, he threw some gear together, most of which are uniques. Personally, my trickster can use full rares and not depend on them. On ninja I have an unique ring to give me extra curse ( mathil did that as well ) and cane of kulemak, but both these uniques are not mandatory at all ( the cane can be replaced by a good 2h sword and the ring can be replaced by a normal ring with % ele damage to attacks ).

You dont even understand that you even have to ramp it up and in leaguestart scenario you have to have insane cast speed to keep yourself at max stages consistently and as much as possible. And I still have no clue how you came up with that number anyway, my occultist in lake of kalandra had 1 mil wintertide pob dps and that was at level 93 after I played the league a lot. Maybe you think that it deals multiplied damage which is not the case. Casting frost bomb doesnt ever lower your dps, thats probably the weirdest thing Ive heard so far. I main cold dot and right now im nr#1 on ninja for trickster katabasis, if you filter by dps. I dont think I can talk smack when I know the in and outs of the archetype and when I played every single iterations of cold dot. Katabasis is the best one by far and its an incredible buff to damage consistency, damage itself and QoL. Wintertide brand tax characters with about 15-20 points just to pick brand and duration nodes, which is ridiculous. And you dont ever get more damage than this attack skill, you dont even have to be low life. Doing a 4 stone run is not my thing, but Ive already seen wintertide brand tricksters and raiders people that I interacted it and told me what damage they have in pob, which is exactly what I expected, what I had before and what Im talking about. Occultist version is basically the same thing and its something Ive played for years. I wasnt saying these people are "wrong", they are not wrong about anything. jung says its a great starter which it is (and occultist pops are amazing with this skill in particular) and lance made a hiero early sanctum runner that was doing the job it was supposed to do. There is nothing wrong in this. My point was that the archetype got such a big buff that people dont see it and its curently under the radar. So I wish people would bring it to the light. I already know 1 guy that posted his character online and he's on ninja under me, but thats it. And sorry if I come out as arrogant, but on this channel I posted my thoughts on occy cold dot and jung himself said its bad. Now he came up with this character which is extremely funny to me, because I was right at the time. But diference now is that I have solid proof of my building skills and experience, so there is that (because you either have to top ninja or be an online figure, which sucks). I will try and make videos in the future, I already prepared uber cortex showcases. I will also try to record early progression, like quest bosses and feared kills, because a showcase at that level of investment I have is eh. On early parts you can see more things. My feared kill was done on 3 mil dps and I had a 11c 2h 6l corrupted sword, which is pretty wild imo, to have that much dps on garbage gear. The 800-900k or whatever I was talking about is something very early, that was my pob at level 83 or something, and pathing wasnt that optimal, nor damage on gear and the weapon. If I fine tune early prog I can safely say it reaches a clean mil on a 4l.

A good example of how leagues getting incrementally harder just leaves a lot of skills behind. Apart from Penance Brand of Dissipation being OP in Affliction, brands are really bad now, you can tell by the fact that the only really *good* way to build brands now is to do Energy Blade Inquisitor with Battlemage to get like 2k flat lightning dmg to spells.

Doubt 4 voidstones is actually useful for a trade environment. If you are playing trade, you should always buy a carry whether or not you can do it or not. The carry fee is based around 6 people using the boss encounter so usually less than half the fee to go in solo. And it's not cheap either if your first 200ish chaos is a big improvement for your build or buys the first batch of scarab for your farming strat soloing the last 2 voidstones is not the way to go. If you want to see how well the build will do in a league start environment after the watch stones, why not just show the content you intend to do with that build?
