I am seriously glad I found this I always use frame to frame and it ends up licking ass but with pose to pose it looks like you actually have a idea of how long each action is

Pose to pose saved me a lot of fucking time when animating, back then I eventually run out of motivation when animating straight ahead as it feels like it will never end, but with pose to pose I felt like there's an end and therefore giving me hope that I could finish it on time PS: pose to pose will most definitely never work in stop motion, you're better off doing straight ahead

i tend to use a hybrid of both methods of animating, and i really like that because you can do the main poses first, and then go back later and fill in the inbetween poses.

The way my software Moho works is its kind of a combination of straight ahead and pose to pose Basically it's telling the software where you want a character or object to be at what time the computer basically does the rest But when I do a walking animation I typically do it step by step for optimum control

There was a phrase we learned in 2d Animation, "Not everything, all at once." Meaning do the primary action, then the secondary, tertiary, etc. Like this animation I'm working on has a woman dancing, since she's standing in one spot, I'm animating her trunk first, then I'll animate the legs, arms, hair, and so on.
