I was going to do a 5 photography view points in Bangkok video and was researching if anyobody has done it and found this video. pretty cool! And nice pictures! Let me know if you are in BKK again!

Hola David, you're from Barcelona? I lived there for a few years. Awesome city! I'll let you know if I visit BKK. I enjoyed your videos as well. You should still do a 5 BKK Viewpoint video. There are so many spots there. You might like my other video "Bangkok Pixelated". It's another great spot.
@DavidCJPhotographyEN7 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, yes I'm from Barcelona, but been living in Thailand for 7 years now. Are you based in Asia as well? Or just travel non stop? Yes I'll still make the video, I think I'll just repeat the Baiyoke because it's a must, but the idea was to do 5 roof tops. I saw your video about the Mahanakhon Building and actually another photographer here asked me to go this Saturday to check it out, we'll be looking for a higher spot, but maybe check that parking too since it has a nice train view. Great pictures by the way and very useful videos! Hope we can make one together!
@PeteDeMarco7 жыл бұрын
I've been living in Asia for almost 10 years now. If you want to get a high vantage point for the Mahanakhon, check out the M Silom. It's a private condo with a pool on the 30th floor or something like that. It has a perfect view of the tower. I didn't go there but it looks fantastic. I think you'll need to rent an AirBnB though at the M to get in. Here's one: www.airbnb.com/rooms/8708027.
@DavidCJPhotographyEN7 жыл бұрын
That's great info! I actually live at an M condo as well but in Sukhumvit area. I'll ask if I can get up because I can't spend the night there tonight, I will also check some other tall buildings in the area, I have seen lots of pictures from different angles. I'll let you know if I find something interesting.

Hi Pete, were you a guest at the Shangri-La hotel? If you were I might give it a pass as I assume you'll need a guest card to use the lifts

Hello Pete, I’m also looking at staying at the Shangri-la so I can shoot the sunset from the fire escape. It appears getting onto it was no problem. Was your room in the Krungthep Wing?
@pacmanfrog19827 жыл бұрын
Bravo, really useful. May I ask if is allowed getting in the hotel?
@PeteDeMarco7 жыл бұрын
Ciao Francesco. Well, my guess is that it's probably not allowed. If you stay there they might let you go if you ask. But I don't know.
@rleunissen5 жыл бұрын
Isn't there an alarm or something on the door to the fire escape in the hotel? We're going to Bangkok in January, would love to take some photos there.

HI Pete, I liked your video, being lived in Bangkok over 5 years and passed several times through that location, never paid that much importance, now that I do not live in Thailand any more and after checking your video it caught my eye. You mentioned that you were at the Mandarin Oriental hotel and you got to the 16th floor to take the blue hour shot. Were you staying at that hotel? or just asked them to give you access for some time. Also from the location you shot it looks very close to saphan taksin, which seems that this building is either shangri la hotel or the Chao Phya tower, please correct me if I am wrong. Looking forward to hear from you. I will be in Bkk soon for few days, I would like to check out that spot. If you have any other locations please do share. Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work.
@PeteDeMarco6 жыл бұрын
Hi Pappu. It's the Shangri-La near Saphan Taksin. That area is not open to the public. You should get permission from the hotel first.
@sarkarpappu6 жыл бұрын
I have already checked with Shangri-la they do not give access to outsiders and definitely not to terrace or fire exit. My question was what was the building that you shot from in your video, which building is it?
@supermalevitality66515 жыл бұрын
when you took the photos at the baiyoke hotel at the very top, did you stitch the photos together? what was your shutter speed and aperture?
@PeteDeMarco5 жыл бұрын
The photo from the Baiyoke is a single shot with maybe a 16mm lens on a full frame camera. I don't remember the shutter speed and aperture. One thing I do remember is that the floor is constantly moving in a circle. So you can't do a long exposure. You'll want to shoot at least 1/60 a second to make sure there is no motion blur in your shot.
@supermalevitality66515 жыл бұрын
@@PeteDeMarco amazing shot, wide lens. I will go there in a month or so, thanks for the quick reply

Hi Pete! Great video, I've watched it several times now, since I'm going to Bangkok in two weeks. Do you ever use filters and a remote trigger for your long exposure shots? And do you have some EXIF data on those shots shown in the video?
@PeteDeMarco7 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks Mads! I almost always use a remote trigger. If I don't have one with me though I just set my timer to 2-second delay. As for filters and long exposure, I have an ND10 which I rarely use. Most of my long exposures are at dusk so there isn't a need for one. I sometimes use the Sony Long Exposure app too. Have fun in BKK!
@1992MrMads7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. Just didn't see you using a remote trigger in the video, but useful knowledge. Did you want to share some EXIF data from the images? I'm new into photographing light trails and long exposure in general, so some examples would be very appreciated!
@PeteDeMarco7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think I forgot the trigger at home. Here is a video I did about how to create light trails: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqfOin-Phd6AjKs. The EXIF won't really help because the light is different in every situation, as well as the amount of cars passing by. The video will explain.

oh wait, the IS in the sony body and the lens?
@PeteDeMarco7 жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah, I have the DJI Osmo Mobile gimbal and record with my iPhone 7. Most of the footage was with recorded with it.
@PeteDeMarco7 жыл бұрын
I don't use my Sony camera much for recording video. Mainly shooting. But the IS in the A7II is awesome. The first photo I shot from the Baiyoke tower was hand held at 1/15 sec. Just a slight blur. Although I don't recommend doing that if you don't have to.
@kunsunrethy7 жыл бұрын
wow thats incredible. cant imagine the steady video footage from handheld i find it a bit difficult recording with camera, but maybe im not used to it.
