Good luck for everyone applying to colleges over the next couple of years! I wanted to thank you Brooke. I’m going to Yale for the class of ‘26! Your videos were so so helpful🤩🤩

Wow Congratulations!!! 🎉 What would you say was the main thing that set your apart from other applicants? Besides academics and test scores. What extracurricular did you participate in (if you don’t mind sharing)?

@@Passion4MedOfficial I think my essays were pretty good. I worked hard on them and truly made them personal. I was involved in plenty of EC’s. My biggest ones were school + community theater, youth group counselor and political advocacy 😊

Hi Brooke, I seriously can't thank you enough for these videos, they really helped me in my college application journey. Honestly, the fact that you're doing all this for free is mind-blowing! Thanks to your videos, I managed to get into Columbia where I'll be attending this fall :D Thank you so much 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Good video idea: How to not break the fine line of writing your ECs in a professional (slightly fancy) way vs ending up lying on them! I've seen plenty of friends give themselves little boosts on their ECs while jotting them on the CApp and then ending up with a fat lie. Basically ETHICS

Question unrelated to this video. My high school has an application called Naviance for college applications. Through Naviance I can see how many students from my high school applied to different colleges over the past four years. My question is as follows: All else being equal, do I have a better chance of getting into a college if many students from my high school applied to a particular college in the past few years or do I have a better chance if few or no students applied to a particular college in the past few years?

I am wondering that what kind of things personal challenges are. For instance, I am an international student and due to my financial situation I don’t have a counselor so I am preparing for college on my own: I research and find programs on my own, I study APs and SAT on my own… Will colleges view my status as a personal challenge ?

I really the ending. One of my dream schools is a very prestigious, famous school. But I always tell myself that it is not the end of the world not being accepted into the most prestigious schools ever. If you really want to get into an Ivy, then do it. If you don't, then strive for any schools that fit you. That's it.

Does anyone have ideas on some geography-related extracurriculars I could do? I LOVE geography and want to do computer science in college.

Maybe some geography competitions, or computer science summer programs

As always, great vid by Brooke. She really is the best.. Personally, I would NEVER consider applying to the top USA universities, such as Harvard. They are NOT the best in the world anymore. A big part of the reason is the admittance criteria. The UK doesn't have "extracurricular activities" requirements. This means that, on average, after graduation, Oxford students can run circles around Harvard grads in their chosen field. Of course, we all know the reason Harvard uses extracurriculars. It's so that they can justify more set-asides without actually calling then set-asides. Which is a way of saying .... more money from alumnus ... Oxford doesn't want "well-rounded" students. They just want students that are "crazy smart" in their selected field. Students that can truly affect the future of THEIR country.
