I don’t really understand focusing on ourself like how can you know if your driving well if you don’t compare to others?

If youre comparing with teamates through data then thats great or even having a coach will help. But it could be misleading comparing to other drivers without data if theyre in different equipment (chassis, tire state, wngine builder)
