From recent discussions with antivaxers, I noticed that frequently I'm not arguing with their claim equivalent of 3+4=8, and instead I'm arguing with their claim equivalent of 3+4=badger. When both parties are using math, or science to arrive at a conclusion, rational debates can be had. At some point, all semblance of arguments at that level are just completely gone, and it becomes an argument with people who have entirely left reality behind and have willingly chosen to live in an alternate conspiracy filled subjective reality. It's next to impossible to reason someone out of that frame of mind when they don't accept logic, science, math, or any other fundamental aspect of reality that most people live by.

One point I think should be made. If vaccine were to "cause autism" is that bad? Nothing wrong with autistic people. Obviously to be autistic is to be born one and i think most studies have indicate that it is genetically passed down. So... It can't "give" autism. I understand if it's about worrying that your child(for example) will not be able to "live a full life" or "be able to survive" or something but to be fair the main reason it can be difficult for autistic people to live in this world is cause of how society represents them and how it is mainly for abled and neuroticle people(basically disabled and neurodivergent people are thrown aside is what I mean)

What about people that are not anti-vaccine but are anti-vaccine mandate?
@thephotoandthestory3 жыл бұрын
I think the vaccines are great. I'm not a big fan of mandating them because I think it pushes folks further away and doesn't really solve transmission. I'm also incredibly uncomfortable at the way the White House is attempting essentially a national mandate without congress's authority. The states have traditionally been the arena for this. That's why you have a state like Mississippi, which provides no religious exemptions for public school vaccinations while nearby Tennessee or until recently New York State had them. We need to be very careful not to overreach with this. Covid is a serious situation but the extreme measures being proposed have significant unintended downsides.
@IMayHaveNukes3 жыл бұрын
I would be all for vaccine mandates if they actually made these dumbass antivaxxers go and get their vaccines. But a lot of easily search-able statistics show that mandates don't really work. Mandates would probably just create more distrust for institutions and create more antivaxxers
@thephotoandthestory3 жыл бұрын
@@IMayHaveNukes I think you make good points. The only justification at this point is propping up the hospital system. Also, the institutions are burning themselves good by their own lack of clarity and accountability. This is insane. Everyone who wants a vaccine has one at this point. Now it looks - even if it isn't the case - to be about government control and profits. I'm glad I'm vaccinated. But I bristle at having to show identification to eat somewhere. I am driven mad that my 5 year old can't test back in to school. I resent my candyass neighbors who identify with the isolation of covid, bask in it and need more government to assuage their lonely, spiritual ruin. I think the only workable solution is just raising rates or denying treatment to unvaccinated people. It's cruel. I wouldn't support it but at this point the only reason to mandate vaccination is the hospital system. I would actually be more comfortable of president Polydent and all the obnoxious authoritarian governors would propose that. I think that would be more consistent with their policy goals.

@@mysticcity312 because vaccines are never 100% effective, and some people with diseases that affect the immune system cannot take vaccines.
